My take on the scum is that he is pretty much about himself. He never played for the team. For him, it was about the limelight and in football, it's the goalscorer who gets the limelight regardless of everything else hence the obsession.
Nonsense. Ruud was - as any striker should be - obsessed with scoring goals but it was far from everything being about himself as much as it was/is with Ronaldo.
As for Beckham, while he cared about his looks, his hair cut and loved the cameras, when it came to actual football he was as much a team player as anyone could be. His decision making when a teammate was in a better position was almost always right (he passes the ball) and he genuinely celebrated goals scored by his teammates. His defensive work and that he could run the whole game alone should tell you how much he played for the team.
Whereas with Ronaldo 99% he only celebrated his teammates’ goals (and mostly even that only reluctantly), when he himself had already scored in the same game. His celebration for the 4-1 pen in that CL final perfectly summed him up. Celebrated more than Ramos did his priceless equaliser. Brilliant player but utter cringe.

Have you read the other quotes? Of course, he's being a hypocrite but there's at least a bit of reflection here with mentioning his age.
I didn't expect him to hold the EPL in such high regard. Personally, I think he's underrated the extent of Serie A's "revival".
