Cristiano Ronaldo - Much Ado About Al Nassr

That second goal was something else. What a volley, Van Persie style! It's definitely one of his best goals in recent years. You know what they say: "Form is temporary, class is permanent."

8-10 games to go this season. He'll get to at least 940 by the end of the season you'd think. Had 895 goals before this season started. One more season + possibly bit more over that should do it.

934

Al Nassr 3-0 up against Yokohama in the AFC Champions League QF

3-0 at half time… This is the first time the AFC Champions league doesn’t keep the East West separation until the final and so far the West Asia teams ( well the 3 Saudi clubs owned by PIF) are destroying the East Asia teams.

Not quite that straightforward, because his scoring rate will slow as he gets to 41, 42 and even 43. I know his cult think that he is an indestructible, ageless machine, but he is not. He's a human being. He is still a long way away from that mark, and he knows it.

He will simply move to the second or third league in Saudi to get his goals. As long as those leagues are classified as "professional" it would count.

I get that, but it doesn't matter how low he goes, the output will drop and he will eventually be crawling towards the target. He may get there, but it's not going to be as easy as everyone is making out. Every day that passes takes a little more of his vitality away.

He could just come back to United in that case. We play like a Sunday league team but are a professional outfit

What an utter embarrassment of an ending to a fantastic career that would be. The league he's playing at at the moment is bad enough as it is.

feck me I love seeing him fail. Schadenfraude isn’t a strong enough term.

This is truly pathetic and sad. It's one thing to dislike a player but wanting a former United legend to fail is crazy to me.

Why is it "embarrassing"? He's 40 and he's playing in a league that is supposed to be for semi retired pros. Messi is also playing in MLS.

No trophies for Ronaldo again this season.
Pretty much every team Ronaldo has played for this decade has severely underperformed as they’ve been served to his needs at the detriment to his team. Fair enough a vanity sport washing project like Al Nassr but for Portugal it’s just wasting the careers of some of the best players in the world.

I don’t think he really cares whether he wins titles or not. He just wants more games to get those goals. It’s all about 1000 now, and it has been for some time.

Best 100m a season they ever spent?

To be fair, it probably is. They had 400k Instagram followers before his signing, and today they have more than 27 million.

I guess that boost to reputation is worth 100 million a season? Who really knows!
