Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

I think he'll do fine at Chelsea, aslong as others do the running for him.

People said that about Lukaku. Problem is Tuchel wants the whole team to do the running.

Selling to Chelsea should not be an option at all. He's under contract, would be gifting them the player to take them into the title race.

Both Juve and United got less points in Ronaldo's first year compared to the year before yet you somehow think a 37-year old Ronaldo would add 20 odd points to Chelsea to make them contenders?

Just as a reference, a Ballon d'or holding Ronaldo along with Benzema, Kaka and Alonso added 18 points (78 to 96) to Real Madrid in 2009.

He would likely unsettle them more than help them at this point. In the case that he does help them in the title race .. better them than City or Liverpool, seeing as we aren't in the title race this year.

I'd love him to go there. He would just mess up the club, just like he did at Juventus and us.

What does Ronaldo have to do for people to see through ever since he made it on the world stage with our club he has used us every step of the way to further his own selfish ambitions.

Fantastic footballer one of the best to ever do it, but he doesn't and could not care less about Manchester United, quicker you accept that easier it is to just get on with it.

Just sell him. He was never meant to be a long term solution anyway. It is the timing that is a problem. He knew long time ago that United would not end in top 4 and he knew about the problems among some of United`s players. Why did he not make this decision earlier so we had a better chance of signing a new striker?

The whole "we don't know when he will show up" thing is embarassing for the club. Not needed at this time.

We will most likely keep him for another year as a stop gap unless the Mason thing can be resolved this season.

Think that might be a journalist looking for clicks term rather then an official United stance, maybe just maybe.

People shouldn't really be upset about us selling him to Chelsea. It would be great if we can do it quickly, allowing EtH to move on and plan for the season ahead without him.

I don't see him fitting into Tuchel's setup at all, he would cause more of a disruption over there, especially with him needing the team-play built around him. And even IF he did turn out to be success and helped them to win the league, I would rather Chelsea won it than Liverpool or City again. One thing is sure, he probably doesn't fit into the style EtH is expected to implement (due to his lack of pressing) so we don't really lose much by losing him. Maybe we lose his goals, but a better team setup should make up for it nicely even with less good strikers in his place.

We know he has expressed the desire to leave, if Chelsea are the only feasible suitors AND he is willing to join them, would people prefer that we force him to stay against his will?

If it was soemthing from his private life thats meant he is missing surely one of his PR team would put a halt to all the press speculation that he wants out

We both know that isn't true, or he wouldn't be on indefinite hiatus.

The sensible person would think he's been told by the club to kindly stay away and we will sort your move out so you cant bring the whole house down with you.

The redcafe approach will be we have no idea where he is and are trying to track him down and we are definitely not selling him because we say it in the press.

What are you on about? Does Mason know all the club secrets or something?

The family issue doesn’t seem that far fetched to me. I mean, if his wife doesn’t want to return to Manchester after losing a child there, it’s feasible and understandable.

I didn't vote for Ronaldo before he joined United. But try to be positive when he joined.

Why i didn't vote for Ronaldo. Because i was looking for both short and long term solution.

A Patrick Schick of CF. And at that time before the Greenwood case and i have strong believe and confidence in Rashford. Why i wasn't 100 % convince about Ronaldo.

Another big reason and factor why i didn't vote for Ronaldo. I knew even with Ronaldo. Not a chance United will beat City and Liverpool for premier league title. Same as champion league title. Even with Ronaldo, Ten Hag and some new coming this year.

So i have always think and focus building a winning and dominating team after Liverpool and City without Van Dijk, Salah and City without Kevin De Bruyne. It's about the timing. When to hit it hardest. When your rival and enemy get weaker.

Ronaldo at his age. Not the right time to hit and take over your dominate rivals. Might City and Liverpool are good with the rebuilding. But world class players like Salah, De Bruyne, Van Dijk and and maybe Mane. If they leave or retire. It will affect theirs team in some ways. For me. I believe they will get weaker.

De Jong, Martinez and Schick . All 24,25, 26. That is the ideal age. When Salah and Kevin De Bruyne are close to theirs retirement. Ronaldo at the age of 37. Don't suit my plan and focus.

So if its true. He wants to leave. Ten Hag shall start to talk with Patrick Schick agent and convince him to join United.

Schick share to Euro 2020 top scorer with Ronaldo. Schick above Haaland this year in Bundesliga.

Schick is the answer of the life after Ronaldo. I am 100 %. Schick is so complete as you can come, as a complete CF and attacking player. The boy has everything. On a really high level.

Build both for the short and long term :

The starter of the attack CB Martinez ------ The brain of the teams: De Jong, Eriksen, Bruno ------- The finisher of the attack, what others start and build from = Schick & Rashford

United future super CF duo = Schick & Rashford

Eriksen - Fred/Garner/Rice - De Jong + Bruno + Schick - Rashford 4312 formation.

This sounds crazy but if Ronaldo leaves I can see Ten Hag going for Antony for the RW, Sancho left and trialing Rashford as a 9.

Wont work I reckon and we'd need to shift with a false 9 tadic role for either Eriksen or Bruno

You love Patrick Schick don't you. This is the 3rd thread you've tried to make a case for signing him in just a few minutes.

I would say Martial instead of Rashford.

Sancho/Rashford = left
Elanga/Antony = Right

If Martial trains well, he will start.
This is the breaking point for him now, as its now down to HIM.
He has the 9 available, the CF position for grabs with zero competition. He just has to work.

Right, I take it back. In terms of marketing he is indeed worth some money

He's also a great goal poacher, not quite as great as RVN was but still.

There are 2 issues with Ronaldo

A- He's not a team player. He expects everyone to do the work for him and would throw anyone under the bus but himself if things go wrong
B- He simply can't accept his age. Which means that anyone daring to put the guy on the bench will find himself to face a proper meltdown. That's half acceptable when the player in question is a WC player in his prime but becomes toxic when he's a 37 year old who needs resting

As a Chelsea fan, if you gave me the choice between signing a proper right winger to play in a front 3 with Havertz and Sterling or sign Ronaldo I’d take the right winger 10 times out of 10. But the market for top class wide players that we can sign is rapidly diminishing by the looks of it. Raphinha and Dembele off the table, no links to a Gnabry etc.

I think this is perhaps the only way Tuchel will agree to any Ronaldo move. Because a long term solution isn’t possible this window.
Does this mean you/Chelsea fans are convinced by Havertz as your main number 9 in the long run?

Playing a striker as a striker somebody stop this man!

For at least this coming season, yes. It’s his best position I think. Not really a classic #9 but it’s the best area to get the best out of him.

By accounts the likes of Maguire, Shaw, Rashford and other academy players also have a massive ego and snapped back when being questioned/given advice by him.

He's exposed how terrible the rest of the squad are if anything. He did his job and scored a load of goals last season. We're now facing a season with Martial up front, who by the way was desperate to leave until no one wanted him.
You can write what you want but the truth is that United in 2020/21 were much better than last season (under Ole). And the only thing that changed was Ronaldo signing for United:
"The campaign before Ronaldo arrived, United scored 73 goals in the Premier League - 16 more than they did with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. It's a trend which has followed him from Juventus, where his arrival also led to a decline in goals scored." From sky.

Ronaldo is a player who plays to score goals but contributes little else to the team and that has been true for many years. The only difference is that previously he played in with teammates who did the dirty work for him. He just had to concentrate on getting the glory because Benzema, Modric, Rooney et al played to serve his insatiable appetite (and mammoth ego) to score.

For the first time last season he played in a team where he had to be the leader and the driving force of the team rather than just score goals. And I'm afraid he failed.

After our worst season in premier league history, it’s a shame that the headlines are Ronaldo wanting out instead of an amazing start to the transfer window.

It’s certainly big season for him coming up. It’ll be his third season here. We’ve seen the flashes of brilliance. We’ve seen purple patches. It’s time to see some real consistency.
