Ronaldo is a player that is used to winning, had won everything. He plays with passion for the game.
United is not a club that is compatible with his ambitions, is not a club that is used to winning.
The player with most goals last season for United, and United supporters want Ronaldo to leave, saying the problem is him, just because the guy likes to win everything!!!
I do not doubt that Ronaldo's mentality and that he was one of our two standout performers last season on the pitch. He got the goals and got us past the UCL group stages, but we needed more than that last year. I do not believe that Ronaldo is as toxic as some tabloids/rumors make him out to be, but he did jet off to Portugal when he was out "injured" for the Man City game. You can't tell me that such a move would help with the already toxic dressing room atmosphere.
If he wanted to play in the UCL so much, he should've helped rally the team to a top 4 finish.
Oh, but isn't that the captain's job? If he didn't like the lack of leadership being displayed, he should've stepped up, displayed some leadership, and get us to that top 4 finish. It was ours to lose at one point.
Sure, we can blame Ralf, Maguire, Bruno, Rashford, etc., but Ronaldo was a senior player in the dressing room (often regarded as a club legend last season), he held a level of influence over some of the players, and he could've stepped up off the pitch, because squad unity was badly needed to overcome the disaster we witnessed last season.
As for him staying/leaving, it's Erik ten Hag's call. I believe that ten Hag has the tactical ability to incorporate Ronaldo in the team and utilize him properly, and if he wants Ronaldo to stay, then I'm all for it. But if he wants to build his team differently, then I'll support ten Hag's decision too. I want the decision to be made in the best interest of Manchester United.
And, no, I am not a hater. I love watching Ronaldo play, and I bring him back to Man Utd in every FM game I've played. In fact, I'd love to see what ten Hag can do with him and how many goals he can score in a functional team with a tactically sound manager. And, I really want to see the ad that Adidas shot with him, Beckham, and King Eric. But, like I said, the club has to come first and foremost.
