To be fair, he did say before all that "I've been told by people close to the player". I thought it was unprofessional of Reddy.

But overall, none of them have a scooby. They just know what we know from other sources.

Personally I didn't begrudge him leaving in 2009 because I was brought up to believe that the club is always bigger than a player and knew we'd still be competing under Fergie.

But this whole episode of him whoring himself out while the club is trying to rebuild itself leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Back when Juventus got relegated, Del Piero and Buffon stayed to get the club back in the Serie A. This cnut can't even try to help United back on its feet just because we're not in the CL.

It’s not an inevitable end. All he had to do was humble himself and realize he’s in his last legs. Plenty of former star players have refashioned themselves as useful squad members because of their quality and mindset, there’s no reason he couldn’t age gracefully too.

He just doesn’t have the self awareness and humility to think beyond just himself.
 
He expects the freedom to pick and choose when he has to be with the team. If he wasn't playing every week he'd probably be like Cavani. Thought it was mad he expected Ralf to leave him behind if he wasn't part of the squad. Understand why but that's a privilege granted at the manager's discretion. Getting subbed and skipping the bench and the manager's fulltime address to beat traffic is wild.

Also don't understand how it ever sounded normal, even if it was permitted by the club it would still be silly. People need to just apply common sense here and imagine if every sub was allowed to go straight home. They shouldn't even be asking such a privilege.

I personally think he’s struggling to accept his decline and that he’s not the player he used to be. It’s as if he’s become more defiant in trying to prove he still has it. Trying to engineer a move has backfired on. He probably thought there would be a queue of clubs after him.

Yeah that's what it feels like. Maybe I'm weird, but it makes me a bit said. Certainly not how I expected this to play out ten years ago, but like you said, it's his own ego and perception leading to this sorry state of affairs

I can't even see a club willing to take him on loan. There's no way the club are going to pay his wages and lose his commercial value at the same time.

I know Ronaldo fans wouldn’t like to agree but even last season, despite his 20 odd goals there were more than enough occasions where you could see his legs couldn’t keep up. Some passages of play it looked like his balance and coordination was struggling. Yes he was still able to offer something, but the decline was there to see. It’s only going to be worse this season.

He's not just any "former star player" so that type of comparison doesn't make sense. But he should have gotten all his wishes in writing in his contract if he felt so strongly about it. Heck, he could have put "if Utd just about squeak into the EL at the end of this season, they agree to give me to Bayern for free next season" and with the optimism around the club last year, they may have agreed even to that.

Kaveh Solhekol sounds like such a bullshitter. We've all come across people like him in our lives. Such an inauthentic, sweaty, toe-sucking energy.
 
The latest words from ETH is very damning for Ronaldo. I was initially on his side when the news came out that he was allowed to leave, but now from the horses mouth we hear he just got up and left.

That's disgraceful behaviour, and also the other players. They should be made to apologise to the whole team including the youth players and staff the following morning, and made to work to regain their place in the team. They should all be treated the same.

I can forgive players not in the match squad for leaving early, even if I think they get paid good money for just being there and supporting the team playing.
But leaving as a sub is just a whole new level of arrogance, friendly game or not. Get rid.

I think that even if you're not in the squad you should stay and leave together, you're still part of the team even when injured/not in the squad. Otherwise what's the point in even showing up?

Leaving early is a bad look full stop, I don't even like it when fans leave early, I've never done it myself. Stay and support the team.

I've wondered if some of those criticising him leaving, are the same sort of people who turn their backs on the team and walk out of OT after 80 mins, whether we're winning or losing.
Hypocrisy or double standards?

There isn't a fan in Old Trafford being paid to watch us play and be part of whatever the team does after a match. What Ronaldo and whoever else left after that match did is unprofessional.
 
If Messi starts scoring in the group games, he will explode. Even without that he just wants to add to his tally anyway. Hopefully if we get Sesko we can let him go, I don't think it's worth the drama and bad atmosphere.
 
I think Madrid winning the CL last season is what really broke him. They did it without him and the guy who scored the winner is playing in the position he was.

On top of that, if he joined City he would've had the chance to play them in the SF. That must add to his bitterness
 
Would sell him to Chelsea and make them weaker tbh.

I definitely think Real winning the CL without him hit his ego. He'll feel in his mind that he was the reason a lot of those players ever won it in the first place.

Out of interest, why did he leave Madrid for Juventus? Was it his choice, or Madrid just took their last shot to get a huge fee?

He wanted a big pay raise + extension and Florentino Perez turned him down, they only offered him an extra year I believe. He threw his toys out the pram afterwards.

Can't say that it hasn't worked out for Madrid...

Ramos left for the same reason, I respect a club having a set and strict wage structure and being unwilling to bend to players over it. It's why the likes of Bayern and Madrid are where they consistently are

It was the contract I think. Madrid were only offering a short extension, while Juventus came and offered a 4 year deal.

I agree with you. I think they should come to every game and stay the entire time, they get paid very very good money for being a part of the team not just for the games they play in.

But it just can't bring my piss to boil if those not part of the match squad leaves a bit early anyway, so for me it's more a thing of what's ideal and what's acceptable.

He wanted a pay raise after the 3 peat and real said no while perez was chasing Neymar. Also I believe he was butthurt about real not wanting to help pay his fine for tax evasion.
