No. The truth is that both in the August transfer window last year and this year, Mendes has been whoring him to clubs around Europe. The media stories are similar.

Last year, City gave it a thought as an alternative to Kane but balked at his wages and age. United ofcourse reacted out of emotion and swooped in last minute. Everyone else said no. The rest is history.

This year, no takers so far. But given the opportunity he would move. The silence from his camp when it comes to dispelling most of these news speaks volumes especially after he/ his PR team swiftly put down links with Sporting Lisbon.

You can defend him all you want but he is making a mockery of United and if he fails to find another club, of himself.

I mean De gea is not far off him, so I could care less that arguably one of the greatest players to ever player the game, who was also our top scorer in a team as shit as I've ever seen, should be rightfully getting that sort of money. That's before we factor in his commercial appeal.

DDG is now on 260k a week give or take. That's over a 100,000 week difference. That's a big difference.

Also he was always going to be top scorer as we basically played 'give the ball to Ronaldo' all season.

Notice how the two previous seasons we scored more goals without him? How on earth did that happen I wonder?
 
I wonder if we can start docking his wages yet... that could raise some serious much needed $$s. Depends what this 'personal' issue is?

Tbf imo the term fanboy is correct but hater is not. I don't think anyone here actually hate him even if they really want him to leave.

Me for example. The day he leaves I simply won't care about him anymore. I don't hate the guy I really want him to leave only because imo it's the best for United. And probably for him too but tbh I don't give a feck.

Hopefully, Ten Hag doesn't pander to Ronaldo. Otherwise, he'll meet the same fate as the last 5 managers who tried this.

No ... it means EtH and the rest of the United management is smart. United don't have the funds for a striker that can immediately guarantee 15+ league goals, which is the bare minimum they need to challenge for top-4. They can postpone this to next year now.

This is a marriage of convenience - no team can afford Ronaldo and United can't afford a good striker ... rather than humiliate and anger Ronaldo, EtH is fueling his rage and demanding that Ronaldo show other teams what they missed out on. By praising Ronaldo's professionalism, he is laying the path for Ronaldo to come back into the team as a valued player. By talking about extending Ronaldo's contract, EtH is publicly recognizing Ronaldo's contribution and slowly ingratiating Ronaldo to himself. A motivated and angry Ronaldo is a scary Ronaldo.

This is untrue ... Ronaldo was sold because he asked for a salary increase AND that we pay the taxes that he owed (not our problem) AND accused Papa Flo of not defending him enough in the press, especially when there was talk of Luka winning Ballon D'Or. There was also a matter of Juve paying us 100 million Euros for a 33 year old that could be reinvested.
 
We have about as much chance of winning the CL as Atletico, and his Real legacy would he completely tarnished. Don't see the positive in going there.

As long as Ronaldo is rotated then I will be happy. Probably means he won’t be happy though.

You probably do not have much idea on team dynamics/balance/chemistry, in my comment I said "keeping him this way". I did not suggest to sell him as there seems to be no buyer. You have to consider the effect that approach will have on other players, they will not be as understanding as you are, they are closely watching everything just like the fans. They will think if Ronaldo can get away with this with so they can. The moment they are punished for something way less minor, they would think about Ronaldo and scream "double standards"..

The message is that the greatest player of all time who also happens to have suffered a family tradegy gets treated differently to them. The rest of them can ask to be treated like this too when they do anything but put in crap performance after crap performance for us.

Ronaldo has handled this the wrong way though. If he wanted out, he should have said it in March. Its taking away from ETH’s moment to really shape up our season and its frustrating. The story needs to die and he either needs to report for training asap or leave already. I hope its the former but if not then we move on.
 
Been casually lurking on the Caf for the past few weeks and keep noticing this thread being one of the most active. Does that mean that Ronaldo is still not back for training?? What's the issue here?

Looks like Atletico is the only glimmer of hope now. I don't mind him staying because the strikers available are not convincing. Ten Hag also seems to know how to fit him in and Ronaldo isn't one to down tools even when unhappy. The problem I have with him staying is if he's going to bring in any negative drama in the dressing room, or when taken off etc

I don't think it's gonna happen but they are the only viable option.

They did get Suarez and Costa in the last few years, so Simeone doesn't have a problem with signing strikers past their prime.
 
So, we are binding him to slavery once again. Have we absolutely no shame ! Cristiano needs to be able to fly free again and maybe the good neighbours of those whom we wouldn't even sell a virus to, need to free him from his servitude

That's what I'm afraid of.

Just going along with the whole thing like nothing happened after he basically went on strike and pampering him will just show he's bigger than the club and ETH will have a huge problem right away.

This is the kind of double standards that undermine the manager's authority. He shouldn't be tolerated for acting like a petulant child because he's Ronaldo. And nobody with a functional brain actually believes he doesn't report to training because of a family tragedy, all the while sending his agent all around the world looking for a new club for him.

This is Ronaldo you are talking. He has never consistently tracked back when playing as a winger even under Ferguson and never consistently pressed playing as a forward. He wants the glory and non of the dirty work. So what makes you think that at 37 he will all of sudden change his game.
