Nah. Ten Hag has played Rashford there and shuffled the flanks. That was mostly the case pre tantrum. After the episode Ronaldo had started every game and played every single minutes and has been crap for the most part.
Ten Hag isn't even subbing him anymore and would rather push players in non familiar positions where they are less effective and impactful(Bruno out wide) to accommodate him.
Ronaldo should have at least come off in 2 of the 3 matches he started and finished since his return to the team.
Face it, his episode has made him untouchable so far, let's see if it continues with the return of some of our players from injuries.
Lack of pre-season could definitely explain him being really really bad in his first few matches. It can’t be blamed for him being still really really bad almost half way through the season. At this point we have to accept he is actually really really bad.
He's even worse than Rooney at the very end of his time here.

True, he shouldn't have missed pre season unless it was very personal reason. I am assuming he was gaining unnecessary upper body muscles during summer which has messed up his balance and resistance.
But if my theory is correct then he will be fine at his next club by doing leg and core resistance training while losing his upper body muscles.

His biggest struggle right now is he can’t even get goal side to take advantage of any chances.
It's even more irritating to know GD ended up the difference. All those chances against Omonia and Sheriff. We prioritized CR in chance creation and substitution pattern even after it was clear they couldn't keep up with Rashford.
The biggest worry about Ronaldo is I fear we may have to put up with this for the whole season.

He's lost everything, hasn't he? A shadow of the player he used to be. Can't even finish anymore, which was his one great strength through the years.
Add that to the can't press, can't run, can't dribble, can't pass and can't stay onside, and he's pretty much done at the top level.

Just how is it an excuse? I'm not saying he'd be the second coming of Jesus if only he had a full pre-season instead of spending the whole summer sulking in Portugal and complaining to Mendes, but at his age the line between maintaining relative sharpness and falling completely into the abyss is very fine. By his own delusions he chose chaos and now it looks like he's deep in the latter.
This man thought he was still a CL quality player. His pass to Garnacho was good, but everything else he did was awful. The ball bounces off of him when he comes deep to receive a pass. He has a terrible touch/pass and then he waves his hands like it's the rest of the team's fault.
How he missed the lob over the keeper is beyond me. That is the type of goal he used to score in his sleep. We win the group if he scores that.

I'm fecking begging Martial to come back. It's the best chance we have for Ronaldo to go back to the bench and stay there.
Same. And I’ve had plenty of doubts about Martial in the past. Ditching useless Ronaldo aside, if Martial and Rashford can regain the chemistry they had a couple of seasons ago (and Martial can somehow last the rest of the season without any other significant injury) that could be the difference between a reasonable season and an amazing one.
We won't comentop four if he remains in the side. Our defense has to be amazing to accommodate him.
It's hard for me to say he's totally done because he still scored 24 goals last season. I really don't think he can have changed that much, he was still scoring at the end of last season. He's in a funk and I think he'll get out of it at some point

Either he's saving himself for the world cup or he's over the hill. Will always like him for what he did achieve at Man Utd but he won't be our problem next season.

With our luck with refs/VAR this season they’d have found a way to call it offside if he scored. Not that it matters. He missed. As usual. Feck me those stats are bad.
