It’s going to be a long October for us. We are going to play 9 games this month. Impossible we let Ronaldo play most of it, but with Martial injuries (again) it looks like we don’t have much of a choice.
Much, much better from him. Dreaded seeing him come on after his last match in the Europa league but it was a good performance today. Took two chances away from Bruno when he shouldn’t have, but scored a nice goal and his running and overall play was good.
He did well last night, especially after the goal. I hope that goal was the spark he needed.

I actually thought this was one of Ronaldos better games for us in a while. Great goal, always a threat and during build up play he was also very good and didn't lose possession too much at all. Some lovely passing. Good game from the old fella.

You keep ignoring the fact he went on strike in the summer and didn't report for preseason. He trained in Portugal while his agent tried to flog him to all and sundry. It leaves a bad taste and is why the analogy of Ronaldo being the doting, loving wife for 50 years doesn't add up at all.
That's a big if - considering he couldn't find a club in this summer and we are short of strikers. He could have 30-40 games left easily.
I said after Ronaldo's showing in Cyprus that I was worried about him not even hitting the target, but that he'd gone through a similar run last winter and picked it up in Spring. Hopefully this goal against Everton will get him going on a little run. It was a very well taken goal. Just wish he had managed to get himself onside for the Bruno goal that was chalked off.

It’s a bit weird, although completely expected, that you can’t criticize a player because he’s an all-time great or because he has scored a winner (and you should celebrate that while not noting the rest of the game) — and if you do, you’re a hater. People even tried to praise his Thursday performance, ffs. He has scored a great goal and we’re all happy that he did, but this shouldn’t exempt his from any criticism.
The standards of his off the ball work are also quite dire — if this is a good defensive performance, like many on here claim, I don’t know what isn’t. He barely participated in any pressing (Bruno had to do the work for two players), which is the most important thing for our football under Ten Hag, won 1 tackle and made 2 defensive headers. Is it more than he usually does? Yes. Is it a good performance off the ball? Absolutely not.
That’s the problem with these Ronaldo threads, sure some people might be too negative (but understandable given how he treated the club and results with him since he joined) but there are also 4-5 posters after every game seem to invent their own game or share Ronaldo fan PR accounts.
Casemiro wins man of the match from BT Sport (not saying it was a perfect game) but people will say ‘sloppy’ or pick out errors in his performance without throwing around ‘hater’ tags at any criticism.
His all-round game being really good in the last two matches makes me even more disappointed that he fecked around pre-season and clearly wasn't fit for the opening day. He can still contribute a lot playing like this.

My favourite part about having Ronaldo in the team is that he can be utterly abject for 6 months and score a single winning goal and all the fanboys will suddenly come out of the woodwork to proclaim him the current GOAT.
Ronaldo is Ronaldo. He has lost a step or two and he is not the GOAT anymore. In form, he is still a formidable player though. Yesterday was by far his best performance of the season so far, and that is a good thing. Like it or not. We still need him. Martial is made of glass and Rashford is inconsistant. I liked Ronaldo dropping deep and linking up against Everton on occasion. It was a mature display, bar the stupid header where Bruno was perfectly positioned. Much improved. Welcome back. The standards plummet when it comes to judging Cristiano's performances. A one on one finish is treated as spectacular and "goat level" and the bare minimum he should be doing interms of working hard to win the ball is praised through the roof.

Looking at his performance, i am more impressed that he has adapted his game to make tackles and press, though it is at a lower level compared to the others (e.g. Bruno). Considering his age, that is quite decent.
He needs some improvement on his decision making on some of the passes, otherwise it was a very good performance for someone who is adapting to a completely different style of play.

He played the centre forward role well. Held it up, came deep to get the ball, won headers at both ends of the pitch, pressed (ok not that much, but he’s 37 and playing his 2nd game in 4 days) and tackled a few times… and scored the winning goal.

I would say that there are so many people with a negative agenda against Ronaldo, that anybody with a positive opinion on Ronaldo is bound to be seen as a Ronaldo fan PR account.
I say agenda as all of those posters bashing Ronaldo are basing their facts on articles which are not proven to be true. In fact, the only truth about Ronaldo during the summer was that he was facing a difficult family situation which almost resulted in him leaving. Otherwise everything else was false. Unfortunately those posters just wanted something to bash Ronaldo, even if it was fake.
Technically speaking, and by definition, it’s not a strike if the club allows it/accept his reasons for it. But we can speculate all day and call it a strike if you wanted. Saying that the lack of preseason is all down his fault though, which badly affects his early season form.

Just as nauseating as the people who come in here saying how bad of a game he had, despite him being absolutely on point with his first touch passing all game, heading the ball into Rashford for the disallowed goal, pressing, dropping back, tackling and winning several balls on the defensive phase, etc. Not to mention that, well, he scored the winning goal.

Edit: My analysis of yesterday's game, and broadly speaking, is that I expected a game like this to come very soon for Ronaldo. I'm very attentive to details with this guy, and he did have nightmare games until a couple weeks ago, but I was really pretty sure he had kicked it up a notch on physical levels in the game against Spain and in the Europa League game. For me, Ronaldo has always been about maximizing every step he takes to score a goal, that means pinpoint accuracy on movements, timings, body positioning, split stepping, and they all seemed much better in these last 2 games before yesterday. Namely, the last chance he got against Spain and Omonoia were quite telling for me, sure, the keeper saved the former, and he missed the goal latter's shot, but everything about those plays were perfect in execution, and up to the standard I do believe he still has. So it's not surprise to me he kept this broader level going into yesterday's game, and the goal he scored is just exactly what I expect from him. First touch was just perfect, then controls the ball twice in a split second to adjust it's course, shot is perfect, pace, timing of the run, etc. He has not had that gassed look for a couple weeks now, and even at the 94th he sprinted hard to impede a shot from an Everton's player and would've gotten there if the referee wasn't in the way.
All in all I was expecting a game like this to happen. Ronaldo missing chances is not a concern for me, him not getting chances is concerning, because either he's not well with his body or the team is lacking in the attacking phase. Best game of the season so far for him for way more reasons than just scoring. Good game from him, not incredible, but certainly not a bad game.

Horrible post, claiming that Ronaldo would rather score a hat trick in a defeat than not scoring in a win. It’s always appropriate to criticize a player’s performance and it’s always appropriate to question a player’s character when the facts support the criticism (Joey Barton, Luis Suarez and Mario Balotelli come to mind) but to flog Ronaldo for putting padding his stats above team victories is out of order.

My point was simply that I'm surprised at the level of dislike some Utd fans hold for a player like Ronaldo. He's done some things wrong but jeez, some of you are far too sensitive.

Remember last season he was in shocking form over the Christmas period, and then he scored vs Brighton and then literally carried the team from there with his goals.

Think you're confusing hoping a player fails with believing a player is finished.

But we are miles better with Martial in his place, and will need a striker in January anyway since Ronaldo can't really do it bar the odd game like yesterday.
