Didn’t you post the same exact post in the Casemiro thread about McTominay? Are you a bot or you just have a very limited vocabulary?

I only said Mctominay had nothing to worry about for now. I expect Casemiro to get sharper.

Ronaldo on the other hand is finished. Legs totally gone.

He was miles offside for that first half chance and was still caught by the defender before he even got to the box. Seems to have lost about 30% in the off-season. Maybe it’s fitness… maybe he’s just hit the wall

He does look completely finished. He didn’t have much of a preseason, if any, but nonetheless, he looks a complete liability at this point. Just fecking miles off it. He’s 37. It was going to happen sooner rather than later. He showed signs of it last season, major signs, but this year - by god - he looks completely done.

I don’t doubt he has a few great games left in him. The greats almost always do, but it’s going to be so few and far between at this point. We just look infinitely worse whenever he enters the field. He’s so easily marked out of the game and makes everything we do so predictable.

Nit just that he is useless, he kills our play completely. And our players are trying to pass to him every time
This, this, and this ... Yes, Antony faded badly in the 2nd half, but first half he was one of the biggest victims of the Ronaldo effect, Dalot had the ball many times with Antony making runs in front of him, and Dalot just ignored him and looked central for Ronaldo, even senior players like Eriksen did the same. There was a sequence where we managed to get Elanga with space to run, what does he do? Try to pass it to Ronaldo who's sandwiched between two players.

On another day, one of those forced balls comes off, he scores a belter and everyone assumes he's the saviour. It's not just that he's bad, makes us worse

We still do not know why he missed preseason. His pace over 10 yards has completely gone.

I know, he stank up the place tonight and he should be some sort of impact sub, but there was an interesting tidbit today from the commentary team on ESPN Southern Cone.

The guy met Cavani for the first time a couple of weeks ago and got chatting. He asked about playing with Cristiano and Edi thought the world of him, particularly how professional he was and highlighted how even having won everything, with the club in trouble and playing shit under Rangnick it was him pushing for everyone to start putting the work in and suggested they should be having double shifts for training. Apparently Maguire didn't agree and that was that. Oh captain my captain, feckin'ell.

With the press over there you know there are agendas, planted news, etc. This guy was just filling time during a boring match and isn't at all invested in the going-ons at United. Whatever insight I get from his ramblings always turns out to be legit.

I think he needs a game or two to at least get up to full speed before obituaries are written. One of the things with being old is you probably don't immediately hit the ground running without a preseason, you can't just rely on natural physicality.

Clearly he's a long way past prime now, light years away but it doesn't mean he won't improve from this particular showing. He'll need to. Offside, struggling in the physical confrontations, and ineffectual.

He just isn't very good anymore. He is just too easily dominated physically. Not his fault, he is closer to 40 than 30.

Should not be an impact sub as some are saying. Should not be involved. We just need to take the hit on the wages and the fact that we needed another striker this summer, blood some young lads.

I hate knee jerk reactions after games. But tonight I thought for the first time that he looked like a 37 year old.

In previous games I just put it down to a lack of match fitness. But you can tell he knows certain things are beyond him now so he took a dive or just simply gave up running.

Shame, but it happens to everyone.

Last season he went through a few months in the winter time where he looked like this, slow, struggling to control the ball and make passes, poor calculated shots, then it all came back.

Can only hope missing preseason is affecting him a lot and he can bounce back but I doubt it now or if he does it won't be for long.

Awful. Too bad no decent team were unsensible enough to offer him a contract. He should never start. He was killing attacks as much as Fred was. He also missed a sitter. A couple of years ago, he scores that header easily. I absolutely hate how we play when he's on the pitch. The gameplan seems to be to constantly feed him. It's either that or the players just can't help but keep giving him the ball. He isn't that guy anymore, and not worth being the focal point of the attack. Coming off of the bench should be his only role.

I'm sure he'll score eventually, and people will be saying he's back, but I think he's done at this point.

The offside strolling looks like he's just punishing the team for not finding him. Many of them weren't even on. It's often obvious he played his career as a wide forward.

As much as I like he leaves, I think he can still be a good impact sub, especially in EPL, when the opponents are tired out. Say last 20 mins for instance.

Legend and our best player in a terrible season last year.....but even as an ardent supporter of him and knowing the Ronaldo we signed wasnt the Ronaldo at Madrid......the signs really dont look good this season so far.

Last year he looked like he had lost a yard of pace, a split second in reaction times etc etc but he was still given chances going to put the ball in the net as he still had enough pace and guile. It looks like he has lost that extra 10% all round and bar his aeriel prowess, its sad to see one of the worlds best possibly now only looking average

People blaming his performances on pre season.

He's finished, a very limited player, last season goals were covering up for him now his goals are drying up everyone will see him for what he is.

He's timing this season to be hitting peak during World Cup.
This is his last shot at winning it everything else is just collateral for that this year.
THIS!!! So much THIS!!! Winning the World Cup is the only thing that will enhance his legacy and give him a shot at one final BdO (like R9 and Canavaro) to bring the gap down to 1.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the only thing he is useful for at this point in his stage on the pitch is headers. Literallt useless on the ball and kills so many attacks. Glad ten hag didn't feel pressured to use him as a starter because he's not even good as a backup at this point.

That's also a problem. If like last season we're committed to waiting for those increasingly scarce blotches of form we will be out of every competition. These days his bad form is really bad, we can just write off those games too.

There’s something off with him. He was far better last year and the “he didn’t have a preseason” excuse is beginning to wear thin.

Should no longer start any game. Has to be a substitute from now on.

It's age. When the decline hits, it hits fast.

He's making the right movements but just doesn't have the legs for it.

I think it’s one part fitness, one part he’s a year older, and one part he may be sulking a bit that he didn’t get his transfer.

Gary Neville against West Brom all over again.

However how he is losing his touch/technique is shocking. Barely a ball sticks, barely a pass is appropriate.

I'd much rather have Ighalo back. Or Cavani.

If he continues like this, when Martial is back we might not even see him in the Europa league.

Makes the decision of keeping him seem even more odd.

Did we have a choice? He wanted out but nobody came for him and he's under contract.

What did he do today that Charlie McNeill can’t do? Smack the wall with a free kick? Stay offside throughout the entire match?

He will come good the more the season goes on. At the moment I think mentally he's off. He clearly didn't want to stay. As the time goes on he will make deal with it and his performance will improve. I still expect at least 15 goals from him this season.

One loss in the Europa League isn't a big deal and if he improves greatly then he'll be useful. My worry is us wasting our project/ development baby playing him. We can't really play a progressive style with a static Cf.

Awful to watch .. his goals last year just benefited him more than us & covered his real performance which is so bad … his fanboys will blame everyone & keeps saying things like he will score 15 goals ‍♂️ … your guy don’t like our club & he just used us last year to get more publicity when he saw no one talking highly about him no more …. Leave my club

There are another 10 players on the pitch. It won't be ideal, but yes the team can still play progressive football. He's just one of the compounding players that prevent us playing progressive style.

Well exactly. One or two slow moving parts can give the opponents the physical advantage. I still hope he attains full sharpness and form. There are plenty of games where can contribute and put away chances. At the same time we need Madtial fit as the system can't go down the dumps because of a player rested / rotated here and there.

Thank feck next year's contract is a club option. We wouldn't be daft enough to trigger it, right? RIGHT?!

He aged into being a 9 instead of a winger and now he's aged into solely being a header of the ball with good movement in the box. In theory we could use that well if we pen teams back and have Antony, Eriksen, Sancho and Bruno hitting crosses and passing it into the box, but we look miles away from pegging teams back, partly because they feel extremely comfortable playing a high line with Cristiano as the 9.

If he really wanted to play in the CL, I think the best move would have been to go to Ajax and score 30 goals in the Eredivisie and they are capable of pegging teams back even in the CL because they can pass it. You can see why he wanted a partner up front. A 3-5-2 with wingbacks might also squeeze a final season out of him.

I was just being argumentative, amol ;) .Ronaldo just looked finished. Offsides just because he's too lazy coming back, and his ball control inside the box wasn't there anymore.

Yeh, he has his use only as subs.
