Cricket

I just gave that innings a standing ovation.

Power hitting at its best. Remarkable innings!! Genius batting from a fabulous player. Wasn't just aimless slogs, they were proper shots he was smashing all over the place. A joy to watch.

Amla too, love watching him bat. Superb from them both.

And the 3rd guy, poor bastard has a century that hardly anyone will remember!

 his interview now was quite funny, saying the worst thing WI could've done was get him out.

De Villiers has to be the most audacious hitter ever, remember seeing him destroy Steyn in IPL too, incredible batsman.

South Africa's greatest batsman ever? He's better than Kallis in my book anyway, because I rate 'not being a boring bastard' quite highly.

I think he is the most naturally gifted batsman we've ever had. Second is probably Gibbs.

AB without doubt best batsman in the world across all formats. Simply the best. This is not the only sport in which he is so good. Had read something about AB having played at very high levels in few other sports too.

Amla is 2nd best after him in best current batsmen and of course Steyn no. 1 bowler without any slightest of doubt. For these 3's sake, I am hoping SA win the world cup. Deserved word is often overused but these 3 truly deserve winning world cup.

True-but SAF historically chokes even with world class players!

SA muddle it up by playing a huge number of all rounders, not defining responsibility. This time is the first they've turned up without a proper all-rounder -- Parnell and Philander don't count. They are the favourites for me.

South Africa have the highest number of match winners but they have no all rounders at all which will probably lead to their downfall. In big pressure matches you need depth in batting and South Africa will have a problem chasing scores

just watched some of his innings and it was stunning.

AB is by far the most talented "modern" batsman. Incredible player in any format of the game. Nevermind that he captains and keeps wickets as well. Just an allround player.

Has a team ever had 3 centuries in the same innings of an ODI? I can't remember it ever happening.

Nope. I asked the same question earlier, first time it's happened.

Really?

I think India would've come very close recently. I remember Dhawan got out on 90 odd in one of the matches and Rohit/Kohli made centuries.

I heard Pollock say it's the first time it's happened. Although, it may be that it's the first time the top-3 in the order have all got centuries.

Might have to refer to CricInfo to get the definitive answer.

Those strokes where he gets down on one knee and hits them for 6 over fine leg are strokes of pure fantasy.

The timing has to be so perfect to be able to generate the height and power to clear the ropes. And when you are moving across the stumps and readjusting your whole body to play the shot, to get the timing correct must be ridiculously hard.

Yet he was doing it so easily, time after time.

That knock from de Villiers was simply amazing! Best batting display I've seen and I've watched a lot of cricket!

What does everyone make of the latest with Australia v India, David Warner is in trouble for telling Rohit Sharma to 'speak English' while they were sledging each other.
Personally I can't see how 'speak English' can be considered racist!

This is more like it England! 51 more runs required to beat India with 31 overs and 9 wickets remaining. Now use the momentum to go and beat the Aussies!

This NZ team is awesome! 93-5 today, they make 360-5 at end of 50 overs.

Azhar Ali to be named ODI captain ffs. One slowpoke is replaced by another.

ODI: Azhar C, Sarfraz VC
T20: Afridi C, Sarfraz VC
Tests: Misbah C, Azhar VC

England doing well in their warmup match. They bowled St Kitts & Nevis International XI out for a grand total of 58, and replied with a 95 N/O from Captain Cook, and a 72 for returnee Jonathan Trott.

I know it's a throwaway warmup match, but it's great to see Trott getting some runs on the board after what he's had to go through.

Downton is 'no longer in his job' according to Sky.

Thank christ for that, absolute disaster from day one.

Pietersen's gonna make an ill-fated comeback isn't he?

A few months too late for that, surely. As an England fan, seeing our best ODI batsman left out of the world cup because of some petty in-fighting between stubborn upper-middle class tossers really annoyed me. No-one will convince me that team would've done worse with KP there in place of Morgan
