I could be wrong but Isn't Vihari meant to be a beast in domestic cricket? Shame he's not performing at this level, Iyer as well not doing very well so Saha looks a good shout to be fair.
 
Pant gone from 7 off 35 to 55 off 67, took a liking to Lyon, reminds me of what Ben Stokes done to him

Is Jadeja going to bat if needed? Pitch doesn't look like its playing up to be fair considering its day 5. If they can get the deficit down to 200 runs these two still in defiantly a chance.

Both Mark Ramprakash and Graeme Hick were beasts at county level but struggled with the step up to international level

Many thanks guys, If only Pujara could at least rotate the strike more then Pant can carry on with his stroke play. Starc bowling very poorly.

Rahane was a big wicket. If he had stayed till lunch with Pujara, India had a chance. I like Pant but i don't really expect him to be able to play a long innings on a fifth day pitch. Attacking the bowling is great but one of these balls is going to misbehave and that will be the end of it. Would have been entirely different scenario is Rahane had betted till lunch and Pant had come out to bat at 225/3 or something. His batting would have put pressure on the Aussies. But i would love to be proved wrong though.

He's a walking wicket in my opinion , Its only a matter of time... Its annoying to be honest Pant is seeing it like a beachball and then he cant trust Pujara to rotate the strike. Going to lose Momentum BIG TIME.

Broader point of him not rotating enough.. yeah.. but right now, Pant got a knock again.. I think Pujara is going to try and keep most of the strike till lunch..

True, its a dumb tactic. Just allows the bowler more time to set you up and to execute his plans. Its even dumber since there is a left hander at the other end.

I haven't seen a bad ball yet and I've watched every ball today, Pitch seems to be holding up really well. Looks slow more then anything.

Nahh ball has stayed low multiple times.

Also it's funny to call Pujara a walking wicket when he's faced more balls than anybody else.

The equation for him today is simple. If he bats till the end, we draw. If Pant goes crazy and wins us the game, great. However, the draw is most important.

He's not scoring runs and doesn't look convincing? He can't even rotate the strike mostly. That's why I suggested the walking wicket comment. The only reason the ball has stayed lowish is because of the slower balls. There is no proper demons in this wicket and it would be an excuse to suggest otherwise.

Maybe you are correct. But he has to be careful. No need to give too much respect to Lyon as he can become deadly if you keep defending him.
 
Wonderful session for India. Pant was just brilliant. Kudos to Pujara as well for hanging in there. Have to take over by over and then see where you are after one hour or so after lunch. Australia will be under pressure if these two play another 20 overs and score another 60 odd runs during that time. Good game of cricket this.
 
I think Aus will only feel a bit of pressure if we get the deficit down to 160-170 by the time the new ball is taken.. and then the new ball goes for a few quick runs.. They might start to rethink their strategy at that point.. but really.. thats highly unlikely.. we are 1 bad shot or 1 moment of brilliance away from throwing it all away... and yeah.. I have no faith in Vihari.

India have already surpassed expectations for today, the fight shown with the amount of injuries and forced changes has been incredible. Vihari has copped a lot of stick and justifiably so, if ever there was a time to prove you belong at this level.

These guys have all dominated international youth and first class cricket but keep getting dropped by Kohli.

Another 20 overs and the temptation to bat Jadeja will be high.

Risk is his injury aggravates and any chance of sweeping England 4-0 at home diminishes.

It is not a popular opinion but he has become a meme bowler to try and injure the opposition bowling attack and does that reasonably successfully.
