I know strike rate is not important in test match but pujara has to score runs. You just need one good delivery and all your good work could be undone.

Exactly Ash. As Waugh just said on commentary, lose two wickets and they're 5-120 and gone.

I never rate such innings. It's one thing to start slowly in a tough condition but this is a good pitch to bat on and this innings doesn't make any sense. Hope he scores big but it's a poor knock so far.

16 runs of 100 balls is one of the worst strike rates I have ever seen since Dom Sibley.

Yes, but forgot how negative he was.

Took a look at his stats SR of 40 away from home, 16 off 100 is very excessive.

As an England fan do I care who wins this series? Is there an outcome that mildly improves our very small chance of making the test final thingy?

Think we've lost one of five series since the WTC was brought in. Don't think there's much between us and these two tbh. Their batting lineups look seriously fragile.

I'm not much of a fan of it, because primarily I watch cricket for entertainment, but he's done it countless times in the past and it clearly works for him, so I'm not sure the comments above about needing to get off strike really get to the heart of it.

Anyway, what a bit of fielding from Hazelwood.

It's a four-year tournament and we're only 18 months into it, and even that period has been truncated. Give it time.
Oh, I thought we were much nearer the end of it than that.

Carry on supporting India like I always do against the Aussies then.

Doesn't matter as technology said he didn't :)

Yeah absolutely the correct decision from the evidence. Would have been interesting to see if they'd have overturned it were he given out on field though.

Think it would have been overturned if it was given out, as there was nothing on hotspot and the 3rd umpire said there was a gap between glove and ball.

It is about to end in a few months, the final is supposed to be June 21.

Add Kohli to India, and add Warner to Aus (who is very good in non-swinging conditions).

Yeah we'll see about that when you lot visit Australia

People seriously underestimating just how how relentless this Aussie bowling lineup is. Cummins is the best in the world and then you've got world class players like Starc and Hazelwood

As I type this, Cummins bowls an absolute peach to dismiss Pujara.

That's pretty much what I thought I'd heard.

Yeah it's correct. Its gonna be Australia and NZ most probably unless we plonk England 4-0 at home or something stupid like that.

Rohit got out at 70 in the 27th over and Vihari got out at 142 in 67th overs . 72 runs in the middle 40 overs after a solid start on this wicket irrespective of the bowling is just awful. Add 50 runs in those 40 overs and you can be in the game

Starc is good at cleaning the tail, and not necessarily world class in red ball cricket.

India gave up too many runs and were missing the control of Ishant.

Agree with this. Aus batted at 3.5 in the same overs which is an extra 70 runs.

What's the point of Pujara if he plays like he did today? Does he deserve his place?

Forgive me if that's a stupid question

You’d rather India’s top order bat like Pujara did this innings than bat like literally anyone else bar Gill. This is test cricket, and he’s equal top scorer for India this innings... yes, he deserves his place.

Pujara is not the one to blame, he plays like this. More criticism should be given to Vihari and Rahane who were garbage. That's where we are missing Kohli.

Yep. Pujara is great.. any team could do with 1 pujara

3 players slowing it down is too much.. Pujara is the best at that role.. he stays.. the others have to justify their selection.

Wonder if Warne cry again after this Siraj dismissal like he did after Paine dismissal last time around? It's almost as if rules has been followed.

One thing this Australian team does extremely well is target the opposition team’s body.

Starc is really good at this and is a good way to break the opposition team’s bowling attack.

The problem with Pujara is that there's not much value in 'batting for time' in test cricket these days, when compared to even a decade ago.

Australia want to attack spin, get Jadeja on at the other end too.

Edit just realised he's out injured... We're fecked
