Why exactly is Gooch better than Kirsten?

Gooch in England, home country: 5917 runs at average of 46.22, 15 hundreds. (3/4th hundreds at home, please note).
Kirsten in England: 910 runs, at an average of 45.45, 3 centuries.

Gooch in Australia: 1089 runs,a t an average of 33, 1 century.
Kirsten in Australia: 698 runs at an average of 43.62, 2 centuries.

Gooch in India: 591 runs at an average of 42.21, 1 century
Kirsten in India: 471 runs at an average of 52.33, 2 centuries.

So Kirsten has more centuries in England, Australia and India combined (7) than Gooch has overall in his career away (5) and at lot better average at Australia and India.

It is not like Kirsten played shittier balling than Gooch in Australia and India and played in an era 1994-2004, when pitches weren't made as batting friendly as they are in last few years.

If I am saying that my team is capable of winning kolkata and SCG to take the series, Kirsten is proving to be a better option clearly to have at top.

Wtf is up with your crappy? You don't rate Kapil or Kumble? BURN HIM

Heh.. I never said I don't rate Kapil I actually did say I consider him our best fast bowler ever, others said they prefer Zaheer or Srinath.

As far as Kumble goes, no doubt on Indian pitches he was lethal but he took a long long time to get going on foreign pitches.

Well you still attacked him in the other thread.. Kapil was pretty darn good. Kumble is one of the 3 great spinners of the last 20 years.. Can't believe anybody can disagree with that.

Gooch is much more than stats, TMH. He is quite possibly the best English batsman of the modern era. I guess and older English cricket watcher may give a better picture. He had a 20 year career. He had 5 year chunks in the middle where he was avcerage 55+. He maintained his position, averages and consistency for much longer than Kirsten. Its not close according to me
