Coutinho / Liverpool to sign Brazilian from Inter?

Haven't kept track of him for at least a year or so but I really loved the look of him - always looked too frail to be ready for European football back then

Don't know too much about him other than if you bought him on FM10 he was a legend... Anyone with any useful insight?

Yep, just the FM evidence, although this should be treated as a key prediction indicator.

Plays better as an AM iirc

Yeah, advanced playmaker. Still a good player in FM13, and would be a good buy for Liverpool.

He was amazing for about a month for Inter and then suddenly disappeared completely.

A bit like the hype that followed Davide Santon for a couple months where he was destined to become the best left back ever.

He had a good season last year with Espanyol didn't he? I thought he was certainly highly rated at Inter, but as Top says it could be another Santon situation.

Think he only went on loan to Espanyol for half a season. I remember him scoring a nice volly, can't remember who against.

Edit: Just checked up on Kerlon as someone mentioned him; he has reached the dizzying heights of playing in the J League.

I've just seen his picture. Looks like Kammy's bastard lovechild tbh

Did pretty well on loan but hasn't done much outside that yet. Very good talent though.

It's easy to forget with a player like this who's name has been around for quite a while that he's still only 20, which is no age for a footballer really. A lot of future greats have been playing reserve football or on loan in the lower leagues at 20 but Coutinho's got a Brazil cap and played 37 times for Inter Milan.

It's a reasonably high risk deal but for £8m it could be one well worth taking. Coutinho can play in all three of their attacking midfield positions and from what I've seen looks like a player who has the potential to be one of the best in the league.

Plus even if it doesn't work out he's young and talented enough to have decent resale value and probably won't demand huge wages.

Probably a decent buy for Liverpool if it comes off.

I'd like to see him go to Southampton if anything. Will strengthen the league and it's good to have more teams capable of entertaining. Generally, the shit teams can't afford good technical players, but Southampton have a few and I think he'd fit in there.

Ah, Kerlon, the famous seal dribble.

So he actively doesn't want to go to Liverpool?

He's class..needs to kick on with his career though, stalled a bit at Inter. Tore Spurs a new one in the 4-4 at the San Siro.

It's Liverpool. Even if they signed Messi I'd back them to feck him up somehow.

I saw him play for them a couple of times when he arrived and thought he had serious potential. He looked class on the ball then. What happened him?

Potential can sometimes be misleading. I remember back in his Inter days thinking Balotelli would be as good as C. Ronaldo. That's before I knew about his temperament.

I remember Martins looking like a good player for Inter back in the day.

looking like it could happen

Yep. 13 million Euros apparently. Southampton are in for him too, so likely he will end up at one of the 2.

Reckon there is a chance they will get him as well as Ince.

Who? Ince?

He has probably more output right now, but Zaha has the greater potential. Will be like 5/6 million + Pacheco anyway.

Fairly happy with this signing, completely fits our profile and we need that player between the lines. Think he can be great if he can fulfill his potential.

Won't Suarez be playing deeper now Sturridge is there as the leading-line striker? Coutinho is an attacking midfielder, and you don't play both CF's and CAM's together or it'd become far too congested. Shades, I think Suarez could be your between the lines player given his dribbling ability, unless you're looking at a 433 with Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling up top and with Coutinho in the midfield.
