Could the Glazers realistically stay?

If they don't get a satisfactory offer, they'll stay. The club's value has gone up and up even while we were shit for a decade, and now that we might be back on track again, it'll only improve even faster. I could easily see them waiting another year or two. If we were to win the league during that time, or reach a CL final or something, they could probably squeeze an additional billion out of a prospective buyer; and all the while, they're raking in millions in dividends for doing literally nothing. As long as they don't urgently need a huge influx of cash for some other venture, they'll have no qualms waiting for a better deal.

The clubs value has gone up and up in spite of their ownership and the value they are placing on it is in their head. It clearly isn't worth what they are asking. Thats like saying "I won't sell my house worth £500k now because in 3 years it might be worth £600k so I want £600k now". Oh and you need to do massive amounts of work to the house and the only reason the house has increased in value is because of the market, nothing to do with your own actions.

The club needs massive investment, they have nearly £1bn in outstanding debt and the squad still needs a lot more investment. They would be absolute idiots not to sell now. Unless something changes that injects a huge amount more money into the PL or the ESL happens, they won't see Uniteds value increase.

They will also have the issue that some of the current buyers will probably buy into other clubs in the interim, other clubs might knock United down another level if they have outside investment and no one will want to get involved in an expensive charade in 2 years time if they "decide to sell" again.

Thats ignoring the backlash from the fans.

They would have to be so so stupid to stick around at this point.

Stating the obvious, they’ll do what’s best for them. They have no interest in what happens at the club (or to the club) beyond what will make them the most money for the least investment.

They might be stupid but I doubt it. They just don’t care about the impact of their actions on the fans or anyone else. They’ve had years of protest and rebuke and what they’re doing now has nothing to do with that.

I’m not an economist but, logically, they will sell when the demand price and supply price are the same (another way of saying the buyer must meet their valuation). At the moment they’re not willing to sell at the price at which demand exists. Perhaps we should be saying the buyers are stupid for trying to get the club cheap.

I think we're in a particular stage of the process where panic may set in. The seconds bids went in, there's been a period of no news when we maybe hoped we'd have heard something by now.

But I don't think there's a realistic chance that they'll stay, especially with the recent financial information that became public and the level of debt they've put the club in. They can get some sleazy high-risk funding from Elliott and kick the can down the road if they want but I think its completely unfeasible and they must know that.

Now is the time.
