Turnaround? He was always a horrible prick.
No idea how he was reported in Ireland, but to MMA, he was a fun, witty breath of fresh air who had the majority behind him as he seemed to be self-deprecating and the in-joke was on other fighters taking themselves way too seriously.
As far as I'm aware, he seemingly lost his mind at some point, and it's been a train wreck since.
I think it was more a case of the mask slipping. When he was young, hungry and penniless he was able to keep himself in the gym and out of trouble. Once he got success and money, it wasn't long before he dropped his fake humble persona.
Got to admit when he was 1st in the UFC I loved him, but as time wore on especially in the lead up to just prior to the Mayweather fight being announced he went down in my estimation and since then its been nothing but low after low I always think he'll be announced as dead or something every time this thread gets bumped, the type of person who by getting rich has destroyed any sort of being an actual human being he may have had before he was rich
He was actually a pretty decent bloke at the beginning of his career and used to travel a lot with his trainer to Iceland where by all accounts he was well liked. Funny, charming and friendly was pretty much all that was said about him. Don't know what happened but he has become parody of himself.

Apparently, Conor McGregor wants to run for president of Ireland. Seriously.
He's been talking shite about that for ages. He doesn't seem to have a clue about the role though. From his statements he seems to think he'd be able to do the job of the government and have actual political power.
He's a total moron but I'm not sure he's fully serious about it. To run you need support from 20 members of the Oireachtas or 4 of the local authorities which he's just not going to get.
Everyone there fecking hates him and has done for 10 years so good luck with that one.
Next election cycle appears to be this November according to a quick Google search, decent chance he's dead by then.

Nah, I'm pretty sure the vast majority hate him. Pogue is a lot older and posher than I am and I don't know anyone who likes him either. Even people I know who think Trump is funny can't stand McGregor.
He would be well and truly disappointed on day 1 when he tries to start rounding up foreigners only to find out his sole duty is to shake hands with people at sporting events.

I mean he's always coked out of his nut, often hammered as well, he's clearly been on HGH since the leg break, always seething with anger at something and regularly getting into confrontations so I don't think he's ever getting his free bus pass that's for sure.
