Competition for players this summer

I have a question for you.
Are PSG genuinely thinking of letting Ibra leave?
I mean, he is the best striker in France and is he not PSG's best player?
He himself said he's going. Not sure what PSG can do if that's the case, and he finds a suitable club to move to.

Of course, he is THE star in Paris.

End of contract next summer.

Last summer, PSG didn't extend his contract certainly because the management didn't expect such performances this year. You can't put Ibra on the bench: that is why, PSG has waited for the end of the contract to see if he's still excellent to help them bringing the Champions League.

Now, Ibra and his agent want to negotiate with any interested parties at the end of the season, probably before the start of the Euro2016.

1. Can Dahoud's club really keep him if theres big offers? They claim they can keep Xhaka too but nobody believes them on that score.

2. Hummels is definitely a creative CB. Not a lot out there, for sure.

3. Do you believe the Mkhitaryan rumours? Arsenal signing him would be odd since with Ozil as a 10 he's either fighting with Ramsey to be the 8 or playing out right. I think he'd actually be a good signing for United, playing with Herrera and Schneiderlin in our trio, if we play on the counter under Mourinho. Schweinsteiger could get time when we want a calmer player but that's an athletic and energetic trio to start most games.
  1. I'm sure Gladbach fans could answer this much better than me but from the outside I think so. Gladbach are ambitious and financially stable enough to keep him for another season or two. If he doesn't have an exit clause that is. Of course I don't know him in person but I'd be surprised if Dahoud wishes to move after just one season in which he established himself and can't see him pushing for a move.

  2. It's hard to tell how Tuchel and Zorc would handle a move of Hummels. Potentially Subotic moves, Tuchel stated that he doesn't see Ginter as a natural CB, Merino could be tested as CB - impossible to predict what'll happen.

  3. I think clubs would be dumb to overlook him, therefore I believe Arsenal's interest. If he's interested is another matter. He's not mainly driven by money and wouldn't just move somewhere because it's a financially attractive.
Mkhitaryan is a very sensitive guy and therefore I could see him under a coach like Wenger. Likewise, I'm almost dead certain Mkhitaryan wouldn't play under Mourinho, same regarding a 2nd spell with Klopp.
It's obvious that Tuchel and Mkhitaryan have deep mutual appreciation for each other, and the way Tuchel sets Dortmund up suits Mkhitaryan's strength to a 't'. He got a big contract extension on the table and seems to be happy within the team and in the city. However, I can't help myself thinking that he hasn't forgotten that some fans and media called him the personified crisis when Dortmund went downhill last season and therefore that he wouldn't mind moving on if the right package (club, manager, €€€) comes along.

I hope we think outside the box this summer and bring in the next Payet, Kante, Mahrez rather than the so called big name players.

A bit like Depay, Schneiderlin, Darmian, , Herrera, Martial plus all our youngsters?

We need to bring in here and now in my opinion, not potential that may or may not (more likely) be the next big thing. The problem is that these thinking out of the box players tend to come from lesser teams, and if they aren't the next whatever you end with a team full of lesser players. We're basically in that situation at the moment, and even poor results aside, it's meaning these players aren't progressing as much as they probably could because they'd do better in a better side.

If that would be his main reason to move, then he should not move to a bigger club as he would not receive better treatment there when he would underperform as he did in the first half of the last season. Mkhitaryan did get some abuse back then, but the vast majority of it was on the net and not in the stadium. I remember instances when a portion of the stadium started to show frustration with him by booing but also how a way bigger part of the stadium reacted to it by chanting his name when he screwed up to encourage him to try again (something he noted and showed gratitude for multiple times). He is in general very well liked amongst the core support because of his immense work rate. He is one of the names (Schmelzer being another very prominent one), where the receiption can differ immensively between stadium goer and the internet.

The support of Dortmund in general can´t be considered harsh for a club of that size. The main reason for that is that while the success under Klopp has attracted some event and spoiled audience the majority of the real core support aka season ticket holders are with the club for many years now (the waiting lists are extremely long because of that) and have experienced way darker days than the last season and have built up a high patience level. The club and the stadium remained very calm for a very long time in the nearly historical collapse back then.

As for the media, while the German one can be annoying as hell, it is nothing compared to the English and Spanish counterparts in terms of critical response to performances. It also helps tha the largest chunk of the medial interest in Germany is still concentrated towards the south of the country.

@Sphaero
  1. IMHO his degree of underperformance in said 1st half of last season was pretty much at eye level with most of ur squad. The only player in kind of normal form was Auba. Furthermore he played a number of nice key passes which team mates failed to convert (and vice versa of course); if more goals had resulted from his shot assists, his scoring contribution stats wouldn't have been bad at all.
  2. Apart from what I wrote above, I second most parts of your post. The question is though how Mkhitaryan perceives it, and if he thinks that he's learned to cope with rising pressure that would come with a move.

If LVG stays (which I don't think he will, but if he does), why would any big player want to join MUFC?
We tried offering huge sums of money to clubs and players last season and LVG stated clearly that he cant get any Galactico class players to join.
Last year we had 2 Galactico class players in our squad and both of them wanted to leave last Summer.

While LVG is here, I don't see any big names joining us. LVG does not know how to manage those types of players.
LVGs one of the most successful managers of all time and oversaw our biggest ever signing so you're probably wrong.
