Fallen Muppet. Lest we never forget
Probably not even worth posting the source but...
Seems we are going after 3/4 players after having FDJ funds freed up
Isn’t this what we wanted this summer?
Why do you need a RW though? I never understood why you were targeting an expensive RW in Antony. You have Sancho there. That is the issue. Why is why someone like Antony made more sense, but our genius recruitment team have a LW as a backup to a RW.

Gakpo van play from the left wing and can play as a striker. Two positions in which you can use an extra option. Gakpo seems a logical addition to the squad. Good player that could be a good rotation player from the start, with potential to develop into a solid starting eleven player.
He's not going to be a new Mbappe, but these gems are not signing for United at this point. I think going after a player like Gakpo makes sense. On the other hand, with all this Dutch connection nonsense, I could also argue that there should be players with Gakpo's qualities available outside Holland. They may be more expensive though. Gakpo's price should be pretty decent relative to the current market standards.
So, you know how EtH is going to play a player we haven't even signed yet. Interesting, anything else you'd like to share about EtH's plans? That is the issue. Why is why someone like Antony made more sense, but our genius recruitment team have a LW as a backup to a RW.
Because other than Sancho, our other right sided options are kids. I think we were interested in Antony for around £50m, but when it became clear that Ajax wanted more, we were out. We have enough left sided options, but nobody who can compete on the right and allow us the flexibility to move Sancho to the left if we desired. Why do you need a RW though? Chelsea bid incoming
Should also mean that the guy's been coached by Ruud. And he knows a thing or two about finishing!Looks a talent. Also helps that Ruud van Nistelrooy is the manager of PSV…should hopefully mean it’s not protracted affair.
Antony made more sense, because we don't have any left footed attackers. Gakpo doesn't make as much sense, because he's another right footed player that prefers the left, which we have plenty of.Why do you need a RW though? Are we stacked with left wingers? Rashford starts there and there's still big question marks over him. Sancho has the RW position. We need more quality going forward.Another winger that prefers the left??
He's a versatile forward, what we've always been after.Another winger that prefers the left??

Meh he's mediocre. Not something to be depressed about nor excited.
Need a left footed right winger to have the option to rotate the wingers and have good competition. Sancho is equally good on either wing. Rashford is only a left winger. We have nobody to come in on the right in case Sancho is injured or loses form. If Rashford loses form or is injured, we can move Sancho to left. A RW for me is key for this reason, to have some attacking depth. Why do you need a RW though? I never understood why you were targeting an expensive RW in Antony. You have Sancho there.

Agree with this. Hence why I said he could hopefully become a better version of Bergwijn/Depay based on that eagerness towards the goal and finishing ability. I don't consider him a true gem with absolute world class potential because of what you said. Not particularly skillfull or great at beating his man. He's really comparable to Bergwijn and Depay, but his finishing (also heading) could take him a level above.Watched a bit of this lad when we were linked last season. I don't think he's a particularly skillfull or flashy winger in terms of taking a man on and beating him through sheer skill. I particularly watched him in the Europa League games vs Leicester, and thought he was disappointing, not only with the ball but no real interest in winning the ball back.
However, what he does have is a a great stature, a great knack for getting in the box and great finishing ability. His frame and his finishing coming in off the left definitely reminds me of a young Henry.
For these reasons I see him moving to a centre forward, and becoming a very good player there. I'm just not sure he'll work as a left winger in this league.
Not sold on him at all. He's a great finisher and is quick but he doesn't look to have the attributes to make it as a winger in the pl.

So was Van Persie. Whenever Gakpo finds himself in a CF position, his hold up play, touch and finishing are great, like RvP.Wouldn't really recommend it. He has a fantastic cross and is a dribbler. Bit of an Arjen Robben like forward. Though not as good, mind you.
“That kind of money” is the going rate nowadays, to be fair. It’s actually on the cheaper side to get a 23 year old with his stats.I would be weary on spending that kind of money on a eredivise player unless he is and elite talent as were de light or de jong.
A lot of the big talent of the league (especially attacking ones) flop in bigger leagues. I feel this is due to the notorious poor defense in the league gives a false representation of the player.

Naah, Van Persie has way more technique and was never as much as a dribbler beating people with turns and speed. I'd say RVP is more a Bergkamp type.So was Van Persie. Whenever Gakpo finds himself in a CF position, his hold up play, touch and finishing are great, like RvP.
What about it might change? Will we suddenly develop a right winger? That might change by Xmas

He's nothing like early Rashford, and he's arguably better than Rashford and Martial. No better than what we have already at the club currently.
Not every signing has to improve the starting eleven, however if we are signing players similar to what we have already (he reminds me very much of early Rashford) then they need to be improvements, otherwise it won't help us short term.
