In the latest episode of the United Hour Podcast, Nik (@Rood) and Imran (@Annihilate Now!) are here to discuss three 1-1 draws.
The first got us knocked out of the FA Cup, the next puts us in a good position in our Round of 16 Europa League game, and the latest was an actual decent performance against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
All hopes for the season now rest on the Europa League - does Amorim have the squad to win it?

Its no surprise since its an American publication. Same with Delaney who writes for ESPN as well. Quite obvious to see the agendas. Pander to your audience and what not.
Do you think that given the financial/debt problems United has just gone through over the past 18 years of the Glazers, that the fanbase have a right to know whether this is a thinly veiled Qatari state bid ? Nearly all money anyone from the royal family has is originally sourced from the Qatari state - so why not simply admit that it is, deal with the issue transparently so that all parties are aware this is not a private individual, but rather a tacit Qatari state actor attempting to buy United.
The agenda being of course, the viewpoint they’ve maintained for years that a country with thousands of deaths behind its wealth and prohibitive laws for gay people and women is not great?
Why would it matter if its based in the US ? Unless of course one has a problem with free speech and a free press.
Genuine question here. Are there actually people that this bothers? What fans of other clubs/journalists think of United and what we accomplish?
I know a lot of Chelsea fans and none of them have ever been bothered by this.
Then again I've never seen the appeal of claiming the moral high ground like a lot of our fanbase seem so fond of.
It is literally not claiming the moral high ground. It is having the moral high ground. Chelsea’s riches came from a regime that is now murdering thousands and now stealing kids.

I know a bunch of City fans that much preferred the old club because this new one is simply hollow. My mum’s fella stopped his ST after the first title season and barely gets to a game now, “it’s not the same club” has been uttered many times.
@Mockney as usual absolutely nails it. What’s even the point of sport if United don’t need to loan a Weghorst cause they’ve spunked away too much in the Summer, or if Real don’t let Makelele go cause wages mean nothing here.
No there isn't. These are regular journos asking the tough questions that any responsible journo should be asking. It isn't their fault that Qatar is a corrupt, authoritarian nation where covering them results in negative stories.

The narratives emanating out of these opinion pieces are questioning the legitimacy and wisdom of the State of Qatar buying United. This would also be the case if any other nation state led bid was on the table.

Fair enough. Appreciate the feedback. I don't know anyone like this so it's good to hear other views on it. Personally it doesn't bother me.

Nothing against people who say “I don’t care that United’s future success will be bankrolled off the deaths of hundreds and thousands of vulnerable people”. I get that you can separate it.

Right. What is happening to you here is simple.
You have been caught making an argument you don’t even believe. I have literally proven you don’t believe those words.
So as a human being you have two options:
A) continue to lie to yourself and think you’re justified
B) Admit you have completely changed your arguments and moral viewpoints across a two month period to justify the fact your football team has more money.
That is absolutely fine. But fecking OWN it. Don’t make bad faith arguments. Just own the fact you’re excited by a transfer kitty.
It just bothers me the most because there’s only a handful of clubs, that if run well (not Glazer run), they can stick two fingers up to the nonsensical state ownership of football clubs & the bottomless pits of money they provide.
United & Real stand clear as two shining examples of clubs that absolutely can stand above it, one has been run so superbly that whilst the state owned clubs dither about year on year in the CL, they are undergoing huge stadium renovations, are financially in a brilliant position and win the CL almost every year.
The other has been run like shit and fans will therefore give up all the moral high ground of being a proper club that pays for itself, despite years of slating state ownership because they see dollar signs, shiny new stadiums and training centre, but these dollars we barely fecking need if we were just run well as a football club.
