He could well have links but that doesn't mean he'll run United in the same way as PSG.

PSG exerted their dominance domestically but fell at the last hurdle in the Champions league. For Sheikh Jassim, the aim has to be to knock Man City off their perch. And if he can aid the club in doing that, then he will have helped in creating a team that can win the champions league, aswell.

You create a PL winning team = team that can win the champions league.

PSG actually lost the title recently in embarrassing fashion. Their team is basically Neymar Mbappe FC, everyone else is a mish mash of random players. If we weren't linked with Qatar ourselves we'd be laughing at then right now. They are a study of failure and how not to oil up a club.

He responded specifically to a post about the meetings that just happened. This is what we were talking about throughout the response. Whether or not he got it confused phase two with the meeting is another matter. Look who is shifting goalposts now.

Most of their "books" are most likely electronic, regardless. Encrypting sensitive information and sending to potential investors is common practice in many businesses. I can't speak specifically for football clubs, but I would be surprised.

They lost the league title to Lille a few years ago by one point. Hardly embarrassing considering the great job Lille did by signing a lot of very talented young players.

Where were city and psg prior to ME investment?

Both consistently win their leagues and are always in the final stages of the CL. Which for two clubs with zero history behind them, has already been an impressive feat.

As for city buying good players, yes they have. They've been able to do so because of ME investment and would never have done so under any other ownership. First club to pay 50m for a fullback and what not. Nice to have that type of backing.

You might be right. If Fergie was still around we might have half the silverware. But if Fergie was around and we had Qatari owners, I'd be pretty certain we'd win the CL far more times than we had in the previous 50 years.

For me, Qatar is the best choice from a purely footballing perspective.

My feeling is the Qatari group put down a number that they’ll offer and it’s pretty much up to Ineos to match or beat it

I hope we have a clear idea on the likely outcome to all this by the end of the month

It wasn't the the geographic component of the ME investment that made them better. More money could've come from anywhere. In City's case, they made the right choice in terms of players and managers to where more money was beneficial.

For us, and only City and PSG, our club is a cashcow that generates a lot of money and simply needs to get rid of the Glazers and the debt to remain competitive.

Or a range of hipster choices from people who've spent too long on championship manager.

Or even worse, the stats obsessives who never actually watch games.

And? You think the Emir sits and makes decisions on every investment they have?

JBJ has already spoken about how his boys want to invest in Manchester United. Interview was done by a respected Bloomberg journalist.

City were the 2nd British club to pay a million quid for a player, so it's not like they haven't spent big in the past

I think its been proven that sources of capital have been hard to come by at the top level of football.

You've got the hedge funds/American banks and that's about it.

The ME sovereign funds are so sizeable that very few can compete with their capital.

I do agree that we would be far more competitive if we got rid of the debt. But we don't have the same financial moat we had 10-15 years ago. There is a reason the glazers need to sell.

Lets not forget the massive investments we would have to make if we redevelop/rebuild Old Trafford and Carrington. There isn't a chance we wouldn't need to borrow more money to do so, with or without the Glazers.

That's not the point. There is an example of the Qatar royal family owning a football club and not doing so well. Given you are already drawing conclusions based on limited information, I don't see why this wouldn't be considered.

The Royal family consists of several thousand members. Bit harsh to judge all of their ability to run a club based on the one person behind the shitshow that is Malaga. He is not even a key member of the family.

Similar that situation I don't believe you can compare owning Nice and United either. I'm pretty sure SJR would have different ambitions for United than he currently has for Nice. It doesn't help his reputation of course, but I don't think we would experience anything similar if SJR wins the bidding.

It could be literally anyone. There are about 750 billionaires in the US alone, so it could literally be anyone with some degree of interest in football. I don't care who buys the club as long as its not a nation state or a Glazer-like lot who saddle the club with needless debt.
