Club Sale | It’s done!

The links to Al Qaeda and ISIS - not least state funding of Bin Laden is extremely concerning. I don’t want the club associated with that. That’s a whole other level from the homophobia and misogyny.
This could potentially turn into a Chelsea type situation where we find ourselves sanctioned by the government and up for a quick fire sale - which is where ropey hedge funds could get involved.

Think that's bad, they were allegedly funding groups whose actions were a lot closer to home for all connected with Manchester.

Hate to break the news, but if you’re British or American, your government has been in bed with the ruling tribes in these oil states for decades, and signed off on the deals that founded the states themselves. ISIS came to be as a result of all the d***ing around in Iraq. Putin on the other hand made no deal with anyone in the west, so Abramovuch was a much easier target. Why are you only aware of corruption as it pertains to Qataris owning United?

Where was the massive outrage when Qataris bought the
Shard, Canary Wharf and the Shell Centre redevelopment on London's South Bank? No I thought so!!

Porto 04, Liverpool 05, Inter 10, Chelsea 21 it’s not as hard as you’re making out to win the champions league.
Not sure your point makes sense…How many times have Porto/inter/Chelsea been in the CL and how many times have they actually won it? That indicates it’s pretty hard.

Our clubs longest commercial partner is a Saudi telecom company. Who we’ve been doing business since 2008, I’m sure if you follow the money it all goes to the same people.

I think most of us have come to the same conclusion as HITC Sevens.

Ratcliffe is personally worth £12-15b. His company has a turnover of £30-60b per year with £2-3 in profits. So if he needs finance to buy United then considering what Sheikh Jassim is promising full purchase, debt free, new stadium etc. But apparently wont need to borrow a penny. Then there's only one likely source for this funding.

However they want to dress it up this is a state funded bid.

The father apparently is the rich one? Sold Qatar airways to QIA for a bunch of money. Still no relationship with the PSG owners.

The government are hand in glove with qatar. We sell them weapons, they are openly courted for investment, and the UK currently does around 45 billion quid of buisness with them every year, a number that is increasing every year too.

We could end up in a real mess at the end of all this. Leveraged sale with even worse parasites than we've been dealing with, or the existing parasites with their own new parasites tacked on!

I'm feeling more and more sure the Glazers are going nowhere.

All that is alright as long as we become like PSG and City and compete with top teams using Qatari money, this is the only apparent way to compete with the best teams according to some people. When you can't beat them join them.

We can keep going circles - Where will SJR move the debt? How much debt will there be? Does the debt even matter? The reality is there's another bid on the table which is completely debt free, promises to rebuild Old Trafford/our training ground and will invest in the local community........What is there to discuss? It's a no brainer.

The hypocrisy around human rights issues has been highlighted a lot in the last few weeks so that doesn't stick + You just need to look at City, PSG and Newcastle if LGBT issues is what's bothering you....It's a non issue.

Anything other than a Qatari takeover and our fans have really used our voice to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Does it need to be pointed out every 5 pages that there’s a big difference between being FROM a country and the actual state itself?

When the US or UK are launching state bids for the club you’ll have a point.

SJR 2-3b? still regurgitating the positive spin? 18b euro turnover the rest lose is pointless. one year over 2b surplus.. usual 0.6b -1.5b surplus. how on earth you get 3b is a joke

plus qatar has loads of gas, i'm pretty sure they have the third large

Debt isn't all the same.

Ineos borrowing to buy the club is not ideal, but it is a sustainable model.

Joel glazer borrowing billions to buy out his family, especially borrowing from Elliot, would leave the club bankrupt with its assets sold off, stadium and land included, within half a decade.

You have to understand that in the region several of the countries have their own agenda towards other GCC members. Qatar has been accused of funding terrorism by KSA and its allies while at the same time KSA have been accused of doing the same. The Spiderman meme comes to mind. Reports of KSA wanting to invade Qatar has been doing the rounds for years and the easiest way of getting international backing would be to link the country with terrorism. Hence the Qatar diplomatic crisis. That was resolved last year in time for the WC but there's still underlying animosity towards each other even if they appear all buddy-buddy in public.

As for government sanctions I really doubt that, both governments are too closely linked together for sanctions to be plausible.

Well that's not happening, the other is possible I suppose, but this would only make sense if a full offer wasn't on the table, like Liverpool, as I'm still yet to see anything close to a viable arguement for this option over a full sale.

So in your opinion, American and British business moguls have no involvement with government whatsoever?

It is an airline, which are notoriously bad businesses, had negative cash flow nearly every year before 2015 as far as I can tell (data from Bloomberg)... if the transaction was at market values it wouldn't have been for very much.

This is such a stupid post. You’ve answered your own question with your last point, nobody is unaware of how shady governments can be, the criticism is specifically being levied at the Qatari’s though as they’re the ones currently attempting to purchase the club.

PSG = None
City = None

SAF = 2 in his entire career
Pep = 2 in his entire career, none for over 12 years despite spending over a billion quid.
Klopp = 1 in his entire career

Arsenal = none in entire history of club
Juve = 2 in entire history of club

Safe to say it’s hard to win. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a season from nowhere where everything seems to just fall into place mind.

I mean, Inter in 2010 won everything, one of only 6 European team to ever win the treble, they were an incredible team so no idea why you idea them? And otherwise what? You’ve offered
3 examples from 30 years of CL football and think you’ve proven a point, you’ve in fact, with that, proven yourself wrong

How many weeks? I thought It was supposed to be all wrapped up by the end of the first quater.

I wish I could find it now, but there was a tweet posted quoting a football finance specialist who stated the proposals would be poured over and presented to the Glazers before any decision was made.

You don't even understand the point I'm making and you have the audacity to call me stupid. GFY.

Annoying John Oliver type voice, but quality content. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Quality? He lost me at the point where he said QIB was predominately owned by the state. There is zero evidence that is true, it's appalling work
