Or maybe some fans don't want to be the same as City and Newcastle and be state owned. How is this so hard to get your head around?
If he actually said that you’d have a point. It’s a bit different to saying you don’t want a foreigner. How is that so hard to get your head around?

Nationality objections are ridiculous. To be honest it isn't less xenophobic to say "I don't want any more Amercans" either
Where are the ‘nationality objections’. It’s mainly an objection to nation states ownership. To sportswashing oligarchs. It doesn’t work to try and tar that objection as racist. It’s not. The local element and identity can be treasured and sit comfortably with an international fanbase. People - for example - in the far East or the far West can be involved in forums on tv etc and love the club. What a special dream to one day sit in the stands, for such fans. All welcome all important

Stretty News posted this opinion piece earlier, it's since been edited, but you can read the original here.

Not sure how we can accept comments like the one this twitter user has highlighted as a fan base to be honest. How are trans supporters of the club supposed to feel reading bile like this?

So bad. Sometimes when I read stuff like that with well written words but filled with atrocious views, that it’s a paid article.

Same shit happened in the EU parliament. Qatar paid off politicians to speak nicely of them in public. Or the fans who were paid to cheer the national teams.

Cant see why that would be any different online - it’s actually way easier as it’s not illegal like in the EU parliament. Setting up polls which you are ready to jump on and rig with fake users, etc (which twitter has plenty of) I think is what we’ll see a lot of + articles like this. Of course there’ll be backwards fans who doesnt give a feck about humanrights and with pro Qatarviews, so the best of them with the biggest platform will get an offer of getting backed financially to put their views out there more I think. It’ll probably be more of a smear campaign against Jim and Ineos instead of defending Qatar. Connecting Ineos with the evil Goldman Sachs, polution, creating a new super league, etc.

its called greenwashing and yes, that's exactly what INEOS have been doing for years.

It's also called sportwashing, sportwashing isn't limited to ME countries, it applies to corporations.

Doesn't sportwashing also apply to Ineos?
No its for Middle east Arabs apparently.

Also i am not sure if Qatar can even do sportswashing with United. Scrutiny when you own Manutd is massive. Might actually end up improving some of the aspects people are complaining about.

Seems like the ones who would prefer Ratcliffe have one foot stuck in the past if the ideal owner is local (yet lives in Monaco), is a Utd supporter (yet a Chelsea season ticket holder), and wants to put Manchester back in Manchester United, for me, I think the club need to move on from sentiments and look ahead, hopefully with an innovative owner with no personal ambition other than to elevate the club to its highest level.

well true, it's the same thing for different reasons - but with the same objective.

Posters here can take the high road and say - no state ownership! But it seems to be the direction in which global football is headed. Will we come to deeply regret it when LIV/TOT/ARS get bought over by state owners and we finish 6th every season?

Because Sir Radcliffe does not seem to have deep pockets or a genuine love for United (which translates to investment). I'd rather be PSG than Nice. A decade in the wilderness is enough.

Are there any other confirmed bidders (apart from Ratcliffe and Qatar)?
Apparently not but rumours is that there are more. Imagine if more evil corporations or countries are involved, it will cause meltdown of epic proportions here

Curious, as a rival fan, what do you make of us under the 2 different public offers?

Say if Qatar buy us, how would you compare us to city? Would we be seen as plastic etc etc that everyone see city as, or does or standing history change that view point?

Whats your thoughts from the outside?

If Radcliffe and Ineos were American not a single person would be supporting their efforts.

That's likely true. The funny thing about all of this is that I can admit that I am enough of an hypocrite to accept a qatari or Ratcliffe as the future owners as long as they take well care of United. I will call them name when I feel like it but United well being is separate from my opinions.

Now there is a clear double standard from some people and strangely enough the man who championed a policy that was meant to shaft the local supporters of a club that he allegedly supports are now championing him because he is a local lad. The man shows clear disdain for them but they think that he genuinely cares because he is local.

So xenophobia is celebrated and anyone who points that out is playing the “victim card”. Sounds oddly familiar

The discussion isnt about being owned by the people of Qatar, or the people of the USA. The discussion is about being owned by a State, or a US business consortium directly comparable to the one that has bled the club dry and saddled the club with debt.

Neither of those things remotely touch on the topic of xenophobia, they are not the same.
