Club Sale | It’s done!

I mean, it is though, that’s the thing.

You, quite obviously, are not in a position to determine what the public reaction would be should United win a league title having received foreign investment. Strange that this needs to be debated, whatever you think, it's clearly not a fact.

Incorrect. Radcliffe is looking to leave a legacy. He would absolutely have the clubs long term interests at heart.
Especially since he’s a united fan aswell. The club will come first and he’ll instantly have a good relationship with fans.

Yeah that’s why we need a country / state or someone like Bezos who can take the hit and not actually worry about it, the likes of Ratcliffe would either need to dump a good portion of their personal wealth or need to be backed by investors who would want a slice of our profits at some point.
Unfortunately the only way we get what we want and we get the ownership we want is with a Middle Eastern backer, everything else points to a "business opportunity"

I think its a US consortium unless a state comes with a feck off offer

And when he dies what happens then? His son takes over and sells us or stops giving a shit?

It will probably be INEOS who owns us and they will have people running the club for him. Maybe the club will be sold again if he dies, but hardly something to worry about.

In a way, I am almost hoping for a Hedge fund buyer. A venture capitalist.

We can’t be milked, times have changed. But we are a steady investment play. If you buy us for 7bn, renovate OT and Carrington for 1.5bn, and give the club an additional 150m yearly in transfer funds for 10 years — you are in for a 10bn investment.

Would you get 15bn when you sell this team in 10 years? You aren’t getting 7bn that is for sure. If you get 9bn it’s a break even investment given that it surely will be leveraged (paid for by loans). If you get 11bn it’s a yearly return of 2 percent.

In addition, owning Manchester United is more or less the ultimate door opener. That does carry a lot of value. There are so many opportunities.

And like, 10bn — it is not that much. If you look at listed companies in the US, the 604th largest company is worth 7bn. That is Ralph Lauren. Effin DocuSign is worth 10bn at like spot 500. Some car brand that never sold a car is like worth 8x as much as we are. There is without any single doubt value in the Manchester United brand.

Imagine after all this the Glazers decide they don't actually want to sell and instead just sign a contract handing over the naming rights to the stadium. Or just sell a minority share to some of their buddies overseas.

You like to imagine everything going to shit for the club quite a lot don’t you?

I hope the ethics police representatives here do not support any bid with Beckham as its face. After all, the guy sold out to Qatar and we cannot be having that

Homosexuality is still illegal in Dubai and it is still regularly criticised for human rights violations. Being one of the more liberal states where that is the case isn't enough. It's still abhorrent.
I am surprised so many of you being this up as if that's the apple barometer for judging a culture. Do you know homosexuality is still illegal in Singapore?
Would you show the same contempt for Singapore based on that one law, even though it's never implemented but has been retained till now?

Really sad to see so many United supporters would have no issue being owned by a homophobic nation state in exchange for a few trophies and shiny buys.

Isn't it a process for everyone? No country was 'born' right. Most of the West stands as a good example
Not according to most of here it seems. Unless there's total opposition to any sort of state ownership, singling out Dubai as being not good enough is laughable. They are really progressing and are a lot safer for women than most Western countries.

How about not being bought by a fecking country in the first place.

It comes along with not living in dreamland and remaining grounded in reality to potential motives and outcomes. In this case, they did say they are seeking "strategic opportunities" leaving enough room to weasel out of a potential sale. And I wouldn't trust them to boil two eggs. So what I said remains a possibility.

If it was a State Owned fund yes, if it was private no.

It's done lads.

I posted this earlier today. But what do you mean it's done? I thought someone just speculated and raked in a few million.

Edit: someone with insider knowledge, obviously

No one speculates with all the avilable contracts to buy. Someone knew that news was coming at market open, could be the Glazers for all we know but someone knew.

Really hope its Dubai. That would be the dream owner considering Qatar and Saudi aren't available

Just hope its not an American consortium

Qatar are not 'unavailable' from what I've read.

Yeah, obviously someone knew, my question is more about what do you mean by done?

Do you mean it's guaranteed we're getting sold or that it's actually happened but not publicly disclosed yet?

I came across this too, but I wasn't sure if I had really seen it. And Becks does work for them... How would that work, though? Sounds really shady to me.

I’m Kuwaiti. This is not the sort of project we get involved in.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to say that I'm South African, and that this is not the sort of project we get involved in.
I’d just like to take this opportunity to say I’m British and our economy is fcuked. This is exactly the kind of project we can’t get involved in.

I thought it comes with being a miserable cnut

Do you have a link or anything for me to read?

Qatar would be amazing
There are no rules against people owning clubs who come from the same country.

Anyone clocked our mid season break trip is in…Dubai
