If Qatar are bidding for us that's done. Nobody is capable of matching them including the other oil states. Morals aside it's probably a positive for the club from a purely financial and footballing perspective

even though i don't want it, how could they even attempt to do that after allowing Newcastle
New white paper and regulator coming in hot.

Article also states the bid had fan engagement at the heart of it.

Always been a great bunch of lads. So we have two official bidders. Who is next?

Well if it is a ‘private sector’ investor there is no moral question in any case, certainly on paper. At least not in the sense that they are liable for any sins of their government.

This is BIG! Going to be interesting to see how it plays out, but if they're really serious about acquiring us, they will.

‘Qatar based investment group’ - is that different to being owned by the state or is it basically a smokescreen for the same thing?
Private sector so it is different, not a state, but will probably have some connection to it.

Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is a man utd fan who grew up in the UK. It was meant to be.

If we do get bought up by an oil billionaire I hope we continue to spend within our means and don't pull a Chelsea. I'll just be happy to see us debt free at last.

From the article by Mike Keegan.

"The bid for United would come from separate, individual Qatari investors. There is no interest in taking a partial stake, with only a full-blown takeover being discussed. Insiders have disclosed that the group want to use the knowledge gained from hosting the World Cup and are seeking a new project."

"That would include handing Ten Hag a transfer war-chest to allow him to compete for signings with the world’s richest clubs."

"There are significant funds available,’ they said. ‘These people are serious. They want to make sure that United are where they should be and they are confident theirs will be the strongest bid."

It's not a State though, it's a private investment group. It would be no different to an american consortium

Think this could be the one boys, if we’re led to believe bids are to be submitted this week.

What do they mean by knowledge gained from hosting the world cup? So they are a private investment group who also had a hand in organising the world cup?

If Beckham Fronts the bid then they've got it, fan support would be overwhelming i'd imagine

Sigh. We shouldn't need oil money to compete. I guess the hope is that we wouldn't be state owned but purely an investment firm/random United fan with a lot of money.... Right? We'll see. Ratcliffe would be ideal IMO. Qatar is too shady morally and I'd rather steer clear.

0 chance i believe it is not state owned though.
