Another one who follows the media narrative. He has owned twitter for what? 2 weeks or so now and he is crashing twitter because he is making his own fecking rules after spending 44billion  "oh we have to work extra hours" "no more free lunch" "no more working at home" Lazy feckers. To think a successful billionaire like Musk doesn't know what he is doing is funny.

So you think twitter is going under now?
"Media narrative" is the weakest excuse I've ever heard. How about "established facts" instead?

-He offered to grossly overpay for Twitter on a whim, waiving due diligence he should have performed.
-He regretted his offer once he sobered up and tried to get out of it by making up some fake excuse he should have been able to find had he done said due diligence.
-He was forced to go through with his commitment because judges aren't swayed by the power of stale memes.
-Since he walked into Twitter HQ he has alienated the advertisers who are responsible for pretty much all of Twitter's revenue, the employees who maintain the company in working order, and the people who actually make the product aka the power users.

This is the kind of management you want for Manchester United?

Not believing a word of it at the moment. Too many false dawns.

Don't get carried away.

Quote me until hell freezes over if this does go through - I'll be fecking delighted.

I won't be getting my hopes up just yet. The statement just reads like they are considering any form of new investment, which could include a sale. To me that doesn't mean they want out, just that if a big enough offer came they would take it up. Their preference is still likely to hold onto the club and just get additional investment from third parties.

We really need to see if any actual concrete bids come in now.

I think you are better to wait until a year later to judge how Twitter does. He is currently trying to revive them from the core. Without that change of ownership, Twitter is destined to fade away in a few years under the previous management.

Not getting my hopes up too high but this would be incredible if works out.

Not even a fan of Musk but people on here keep doing this thing of finding one slight and hammering on it while conveniently forgetting that he has several successful businesses and definitely knows more about running a company than the most of us. Even if you’re not a fan of his persona, man is super successful so you’d think he’d get the benefit of the doubt.

The Glazers are great businessmen, but that doesn't make them good football club owners.

Here comes Dubai, they were interested, weren’t they?

Aside from a state, I can’t see anyone buying us for 9 billion.

Musk? He ain’t buying us after buying Twitter.

Insanely good news. Let's see what happens.

Steady on. It could end up being awful news.

There's only a small amount of potential owners who could afford to buy Utd, and most of them are horrible people.

Say what you want about the Glazers - at least their wealth isn't derived from slave labour and they don't support oppressive regimes with shameful human rights records. Nor are they henchmen for dictators and war mongerers like Putin.

Who else is there for Utd? Do we really want another Todd Boehly? I'd rather keep the Glazers than be owned by a clown like him.

There's a very small pool of potential owners who would be better than the Glazers tbh. I hope we get one but I'm extremely worried we don't. I think the assumptions that we can't get worse than the Glazers are naive in the extreme tbh. This isn't intended as a defence of the Glazers btw - I don't like them but I also know I will unfortunately probably like the next owners even less.

Been a while since I’ve seen the map but from memory I don’t see where they could fit a new stadium without needing to build over some of the land OT is on.

Especially considering you would hope if someone goes down the route of building a new stadium it’s bigger and better plus developing fan areas, possibly fitting in another smaller stadium for the woman’s team youth teams.

Still got the issue of the railway and Hotel football.
I never see the canal mentioned as an obstacle to building up he surrounding area. Isn't that as restrictive as the railway?

Yeah that’s cash. Total assets i think he’s around £100m. Of course not enough to buy Man Utd, but enough to be the face of a consortium.
Honestly, do you really want Neville and the his old gang around club?
I will always respect them and what they did for the club but it is time to move forward and move fast.

Wow. What a news to wake up to. The club is at a massive turning point now.

I can't imagine United under actual competent owners who care about the club. So I won't get too carried away and just hope for owners who don't make actively awful decisions and see where it goes from there. If a sale even happens at all, that is.

They are 100% going to sell.

The idea it might just be extra financing from a new investor that they're after or whatever is bollocks, the fact they've officially come out and acknowledged they are willing to sell means they've already made their minds up and they are finally fecking off.

Thank God.

Ronaldo gone. Glazers looking to sell.

Going to walk up to my boss and demand a 100% hike today at work

Things keep getting better. So Ronaldo sacrificed himself for the club’s benefit. What a selfless player!!!

Yeah they will be looking for pretty close to double figure billion pounds for the club, unfortunately there won't be many bidders that will be able to meet it. When there is talk of solid interest from usual Utd suspects then I might get more belief.

I'd expect some consortium from Dubai will step forward.

Edit, as per above although in my defence I hadn't seen those posts!

I definitely do not want Neville or any ex United player having a major say. Ideally I’d rather none were involved. However, I think the best way for say Saudi/Emirati/Qatari/Chinese businessman/group to buy the club and get the good will of the fans might be to have someone like Gary Neville on board, ex player, businessman etc and on bright side if he gets too big for his boots they can always invite him for a meeting at the embassy.

But personally as long as it’s not Putin, the president of China, Bin Salmon, Tony Blair etc I don’t care what country the owner is from. But a lot of fans can’t differentiate businessperson from country.

Because in the case of sovereign wealth funds and similar, the country and the businessperson are one and the same. I'd argue that there is actually no businessperson in those cases.

This could all end in disappointment if all that happens is a change in majority ownership. The Glazers will be asking for way more than what Chelsea were sold for. Potentially over 6 billion if reports are to be believed

What's funny is Chelsea fans are about to find out their franchise is worth about a quarter of what United is worth. I love that.

Which of his businesses has failed? Yes that's the management want, ones who want success.
The fact you think a self made billionaire and a successful business man wouldn't be good for United just because of his persona is delusional.

Since you know better and want a specific type of owners, why don't you buy United yourself.

He has destroyed twitter already beyond repair according to some here.
It's mental really.

That doesn't actually make sense.

Also why all this chatter about Musk? Wannabe cool dude isn't buying us.

Nah not getting excited over anything until there's headlines that the club has been sold to someone else.

How is he self made exactly? His apartheid profiteering family owned an emerald mine. His family had generational wealth.

And who said anything about businesses failing? Though if we're on that subject, the Boring company is a grift that's just about run its course, Twitter is a company that's never made any money and he's just scared off its major advertisers, and Tesla (the major source of his wealth) has been grossly overvalued for years. Based on the last couple of weeks the market may finally be realizing that there's no reason for one medium size car company to be worth the same amount as all the other car companies combined.

Well everyone isn't goof for United. USA, Russia, Class of 92, Saudis, UAE, Qatar, Musk, 51-49 (Bayern model)
So again who the feck do you want to take over?

I hope our fan base keeps a positive outlook on whoever ends up buying us. There will be moral grey areas if we’re owned by the Middle East or any other large consortium. In fact, there is little virtue in capitalism, as we well and truly know.
