Looking forward to see the opening on LinkedIn, if they go with a recruitment agency.

"Got a friend who might be up for the role? Tag them in the comments."

It’ll be Steven Bartlett

They like a young appointment, he’s literally wrote a book on being a CEO and he’s a United fan who has a pre-existing relationship with Brailsford

(I actually believe this enough to write it here so I can gloat if it happens)

It will be Blanc or another INEOS rep no worries, this is likely to appease the ratification process , so not worry.

They're talking about entrusting a headhunting firm to appoint a new CEO, which I think is probably a good move unless they decide to promote one of Baty or Stewart. For the sanity of the casual observer, I hope they go with the headhunting firm and bring in a external candidate. This also doesn't mean that INEOS won't have sporting control, but there is a difference between who the board of directors are, and the people who direct the football side of the club. The Glazers will for sure have a say on who the CEO is.

This was exactly my understanding. INEOS cannot independently go out and recruit a CEO. Board needs to ratify the appointment, and Ineos are actually outnumbered in these matters with Glazers retaining a large share of the voting rights.

It's understandable given what's at stake and how vulnerable the the Glazers' business model is. You need someone with a keen eye for the business side so that the money keeps rolling it. I wouldn't have a problem if they promote the current CFO but ideally give substantial power to the DOF.

After that you can have a Transfers and Contracts Committee in which the CEO has a seat, even if he may not have a vote but you want the guy who knows how the money is moving being involved in these decisions.

Agreed. The people controlling the business side of the club will have a greater say on who the CEO is imo. And we all know who controls the business side of the club.

FFS, don't want gill at any cost.

Think about it

a- He was alongside Brailsford during the last game
b- He has worked under the Glazers and he's got SAF's support
c- He's experienced and lead us to a successful period during a time when we were tight

He’s been employed as a consultant at the club for ages.

I don't think the Glazers want to actively sabotage Ineos and the club, so I don't see them not agreeing to whoever they want to bring in as CEO. Still, it's a little bit disappointing that they also need to agree.

Regarding Blanc, I thought he would not become CEO as he already has a bigger role within the INEOS hierarchy as far as I know...however, I've been convinced in these last few weeks that he was going to basically appoint himself as CEO...?

Anyways, I'd take Gill.

No blanc = the return of Edwin ?

Don’t see VDS coming back to football anytime soon especially in such an unstable environment as United, I could see Blanc as unofficial CEO as a sub contractor type through Ineos then Gill in the official capacity creating a heirachy of

Blanc-Gill
Brailsford
Ashworth
Mitchell
ETH/Someone else

That would work well for me and Gill has experience in running the club during a highly successful period, contacts throughout football, is highly respected, been Vice Chairman of the FA, is on the UEFA committee, was Vice Chairman of FIFA and is a good friend of Sir Alex.

Yeah and he's on the PLC board too. So he's going to be involved moving forward anyway. As I said on the last page maybe he prefers working in the background rather than being a face of the club.

Logically thinking the CEO will work for the Glazers rather than INEOS.

CEO doesn’t just work on the footballing side. Largely responsible for bringing in revenue.

Please can I have some of what you've been smoking?

Awesome - the whole advantage about Sir Jim's bid over Jassim was that he will bring trusted capable people on top positions.

One down . Let's what happens to the.next 2 positions.

I did wonder re Blanc. He only became CEO of Ineos Sport in December 2022 - and his responsibilities are broad. Relocating to Manchester probably wasn’t on his agenda.

Time will tell what the eventual structure looks like. I’m cautiously optimistic about all of this though.

there might well be compliance issues with Blanc being CEO - people seem to have forgotten that the 2 club thing is still a UEFA rule and both Blanc/Brailsford have had involvement at Nice

I dont know the fine details of these rules and what UEFA need to see to allow it as they did in the Red Bull case though

No chance. That guy is a fraud.

WTF are you waffling about

INEOS will need CEO approval for final transfer budget.

It will be a Glazer yes man, we can only hope the candidate cares about the footballing side.

He's also been hanging around the London offices in the last couple of years. If he wants it I see no reason why the Glazers and Ratcliffe would be against it.
