Goblins are known for their trickery and love of mischief. They are typically associated with hoarding treasure.

Gremlins are mischievous entities that cause mayhem. They often sabotage technology.

Glazers are clearly goblins

You got to remember that Ratcliffe has 3 kids/earthworms who could potentially take over United.

Much less than they could have made by running it competently. They're stupid businessmen.

They could have made hundreds more millions if they weren't useless when it comes to managing a sport entity that largely makes money on prize and broadcast revenue. In theory the goal was simple, reach the CL QF on a yearly basis. Instead they accepted mediocrity and by extension far less revenue for themselves while allowing a level of spending that borders on stupidity.

Yes they are, they had a multi million pound business and ran it so deep into the ground it now operates at a loss.

They haven’t a clue what they are doing and further goes to show this was all Daddy Glazer and these are just chancers.

Sir Jim will run rings round these when it comes to business.

And yet they could potentially walk away with a billion bucks each? Must be real dumb.

They could have been walking away with a lot more had they not mismanaged a crown jewel of an asset.

Really? I think you are confusing football performance and financial/commercial performance. The Glazers have increased our topline revenues many times over.

Other than two periods, united has traditionally been a cup team.

We are way overvalued as it is!

  • Jim Ratcliffe could cut 300 jobs at Manchester United in streamlining
  • Ineos will instruct external auditor to assess club’s structure
  • Ratcliffe believes staff of 1,000 can be reduced by 25-30%.
  • Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to ask an external auditor to assess Manchester United’s structure and expenditure with a view to executing a major streamlining exercise, meaning as many as 300 jobs are potentially under threat.
  • Executives from Ineos have been in discussions with United over the past weeks regarding Ratcliffe’s plans ahead of his 25% purchase of the club becoming official on Christmas Eve, with the club’s management already having been reminded to curb rising costs to ensure maximum funds for transfers within the strictures of financial fair play.

Saw this in media a few days ago. compared to other clubs. We have about 180 more staff than the second placed club (think it was Arsenal} and think it was Spurs we have 400 more. Cutting 300 will have us approx Liverpool/City level. Shows the incompetance of how we have been run.

Mismanaged companies are often very bloated at all levels. It's not nice but it is required. It's not a charity.

Hopefully that includes Sancho.

NYSE trading at $20.22. Sir Jim already making huge loss without consummate the deal

as I said through chance, the only thing that got them this was their father.

The way they bought the club these feckers would have made money buying my local Sunday league team as they didn’t put a thing in.

like it or not they are dumb as rocks.

Putting Manchester back in United. A local lad helping the community.

Should recoup a few million on that investment.

Absolutely, Utd employ hundreds more staff than any other team in the league so unfortunately this is inevitable.

Somebody posted a breakdown of the article on reddit.

Interesting bits:

- It is understood that director of football John Murtough will leave his position, following recently departed chief executive Richard Arnold, as Ratcliffe brings in people he believes are capable of turning things around.

- it is expected Ratcliffe will bring in a new structure with the aim of improving their strategy.

- Ratcliffe is expected to bring a number of his trusted people into the club though the billionaire is likely to have the final sign-off on any major football decisions.

- A new director of football is a key appointment. Michael Edwards, the former Liverpool recruitment chief, and Paul Mitchell, sporting director at Monaco with experience across a number of European clubs, are among the many names who have been considered. Iain Moody, former sporting director at Crystal Palace, has worked as a consultant to Ineos at Nice and may have a role in the new set-up.

- Sir David Brailsford is expected to be involved at Old Trafford overseeing a transformed performance and recruitment department.

- He wants to renovate and potentially expand the stadium but more investment would be needed if the stadium were to be fully modernised.

- But as a source told The Times in October, “There is no point having a stadium as magnificent as Tottenham’s if you haven’t got the team”. So the main project is sorting out the club’s recruitment and structure behind the scenes.

- Ratcliffe wants to have full ownership and there is an expectation that this purchase of a partial stake is the first move towards full control.

My two biggest concerns of this article is still nothing about managing the debt (accepted it won't be cleared) and no suggestion there will be a Head of Recruitment and Director of Football appointed.

Cutting down 300 jobs/Cost cutting to fund the transfer? Either the math is completely wrong here on something is being reported inaccurately.

300 jobs will merely fetch you couple of millions

If each job costs £100,000 in salary and benefits etc that is £30,000,000/year.

Looking at all aspects of an organization's operations is typical when new management takes control through a transaction like this

They will probably cut some departments and do them inside Ineos Sports. So basically cut internally and do them externally instead. Since they already got more than one football club and other sports, it make sense.

Someone with more knowledge about City Group can enlighten me, but I think they do it like that and are well under 1000 employees at Man City.

Woke up this morning and realised a Qatar state backed bid din't manage to takeover my football club. Fantastic stuff.

Leave the ground alone though.
