Yes, but why promote the obvious work to a 'stage'?

No doubt they may have started with a template but that would have been months ago. The lawyers would have negotiated the details of the draft and crafted the outline, their instructions would have been to prepare the papers ready to lodge, time being of the essence.

As stated in the more recent tweets, today, the 'stage' seems to have been cultivated to encourage the unsuccessful party to improve their bid.

If this is the rate of progress then we have no hope. Of course things are complicated however the whole purpose of the exclusivity agreement is that they can then deal with the substantial issues at hand.

Sorry I have no more posts left today to discuss this interesting point.

What do you mean by promote? Reuters simply reported on what was currently happening, there has been no promotion.

No it won't, they all chance their arm at times.

Nah, not Reuters. Their business is based on people making big decisions using the data and news they provide. They won't report something unless they're certain it's true. Reporting rumours would kill their core business.

If any party enter exclusivity talks then the Glazers agreed on a fee. Exclusivity is generally about how ownership is transfered legally and how each party want to pay or receive the payments. And yes, it can last a while.
Exactly and SJR option is so complicated it would take at least 12-16 weeks !

It would be close to a price point where it doesn’t make sense any more demand for the stock coming in as the takeover would only buy them at the agreed takeover price.

However, that’s only if it’s Sheikh Jassim winning. If Ratcliffe wins then I’d expect the stock to tank as Ineos have no plans for the foreseeable future to buy the public stock.

There are around 163 million Utd shares in total I believe. So a price of $35 would put the market cap at around $5.7 billion. Obviously no one knows what the takeover price is or will be yet.

Next week this, next week that..always next bastard week!

This would never happen under Logan Roy.

Totally agree so many fans are not seeing the absolute pure credibility of Reuters, they simply never guess or take a punt, this is Reuters they just don’t do that.

Exclusivity is usually when the DD starts. Not sure in this case because the information has made it sound like DDs have already been done by both parties. But generally investors do not want to pay millions to legal and financial advisors for the DD without exclusivity.

I should have mentioned that part but I was thinking about negotiation more than anything since the idea of the Glazers using it to get more money has been mentioned several times. And the due dilligence should includes third parties who weren't formally part of the process until this point, I don't really know which administrations are supposed to do it in the UK.

It'll help for me. What you do is your prerogative brother

I hope you're not one of them people that needs "in my opinion", "for me" type disclaimers in every post, to understand them

Jesus christ, you sensitive soul.

It was a pop at the media in general.

I won't do it again.

Yes, agreed, some are better than others but I suppose this is not the thread for casual opinions. Unless they exactly match one's own.

This feels like it will end in the buyers walking away and being an absolute waste of everyone’s time.

shoehorning in a couple of legends for PR isn't gonna make any difference to how the club performs

Yeah I have always felt it's to sell the club to potential signings, obviously this won't apply until their first window in January

Squeeze Jassim for Ratcliffe, Squeeze Ratcliffe for Jassim. Get the best fee, flee.

That's the part that I don't get. Unless you think that an agreement for exclusivity can happen without negotiating it, how do you not understand that it's a normal process? How do you interpret it as baffling?

Or are you baffled by the fact that this stage was reported?

Just to reiterate, I was bolding the baffling part in someone else’s post. I’m not baffled per se by any of it, my actual point is that I personally think that everything being reported is closer to complete bollocks than to the truth and at this stage it’s more likely the club isn’t sold at all than to either bidder. Glazers longing the whole thing out etc.

However, the news that is being reported is simply not news. An entire article about Jassim entering into negotiations to enter the period of exclusivity is not news. That’s the period you’re in from the very start by virtue of bidding.

they are selling the club in the same manner they have bought it and they have run it, with absolutely no regard for the fans or the clubs footballing performance. they know that stretching this process and trying to squeeze a little bit more out of either bidder has potential to scupper our pre-season plans and having possible longterm consequences, but they don't seem to give a toss.
I want ETH to actually make a statement saying how the sale process is now having a negative impact and front up the glazers.

This shows how far detached you are from the club.
Many of the staff members embodied the fabric of the club, the likes of Ronaldo, SAF, RvN, Becks etc. All had the same faces greeting them and making them feel at home.
Mitten mentioned the current staff care so much about the club, it would be atrocious if any new owner completely overhauled that.

Make the right structural and footballing changes sure, but a lot of staff members are very much what makes the players make the club feel like family.
Some one has to employ all the Qataris in UK. It’s just 800 migrants.
This guy has to stop this mongering of his own thoughts and stop selling the people of Manchester as Feckwits. Likely the people losing their job in these changes will mainly be decision makers and it’s no one’s responsibility to reward incompetency.

i worked at reuters for nearly 10yrs. They are not click bait. They dont just run with rumours, this will be verified with multiple sources. It doesnt mean they are right every time as news changes...but its not based on a whim or rumour as other tweets are. They dont get their revenue based on rumours. they are not the daily star or caughtoffside.

So you’re saying they didn’t get their info from Rio?

Rioters

Them & Rio are only ones keeping me positive

This isn’t directed at you @VP89, but your post sparked a question.

Given the anticipatory outrage at the prospect of Qatari ownership by many of the fans and posters who believe themselves to be the closest or “most attached “ to the club (you know, the match going fans like the MUST spokesperson who besmirched himself on Twitier yesterday and Wumminator who, per their own deluded, Orwellian self importantance, matter more than international fans), if 92 Foundation becomes the new owner of MUFC, by extension of the uber-fan’s logic and apoplectic reaction, shouldn’t we expect to see mass resignations following the sale from those even closer to the club than they are…the staff who are “the fabric of the club”?

What will it say about the make up of the club if the staff continues to take a paycheck from such reprehensible owners? Will the uber fan still root for the team when the fabric of the club is so tainted by their tacit if not overt support for the new owners?

The Athletic piece actually concludes Ratcliffe's a better fit for United despite the concerns.
Well he is a better fit by miles. Absolutely disgusting that the club is being whored off like some cheap meat to Qatar. Glazers are a disgusting lot. Knew it would come down to this. All Qatar will do is bring the circus from Paris to Manchester. That last point could be proved wrong of course, but everything from here on in, in terms of success will be hollow from my point of view.

So actually we do not know anything new since the last bid. We might as well read the truth in tea leaves as reading news.

Reuters keep on posting tweets doubling down on their story.
They've added a nice video breakdown as well.

They're confident in their information, nothing being said by another outlet is gonna change that

I don't disagree with that.

But wrt the idea that The Times is nothing but a mouthpiece for Ratcliffe...I mean, what's the supposed narrative? In reality it's Qatar (or at least, they're clear favorites), but Jimbo tells his mates at TT he's still very much in the running, and this helps him...how?

Barring some big unknown piece of information, Qatar will buy us after Glazers have squeezed them dry, with no regard for how long the process takes. That's been obvious for months and remains obvious.
