Club Sale | It’s done!

Wholeheartedly agree.

Only problem is, we don't have that option.

There's 3 offers on the table.

1. Glazers stay
2. A british Sir
3. A qatari overlord

Choose one of the three.
As far as i'm concerned, i don't mind either of the three simply because i don't care about the ownership side of the club.
Could be Osama Bin Laden for all i care.

I do however love reading the well informed posters on the caf.

So far, it's between 2 and 3 with both sides having some moral dilemmas.

If I had to choose then it would obviously be 2. Because I think what I have said is exactly what INEOS/SJR will do, and I can live with that and still enjoy going to watch United. Ok we might not win as much as we once did (ie nearly every season) but we can be competitive every year and the wins will feel as good as they always did.

Top level trolling

Even Goldbridge got his panties in a twist - just goes to show that every person is as clueless as the next.
Yep he's clueless. Can't believe there were some believing he had a genuine insight into the sale earlier today after one of his tweets and probably a YouTube video to support his lack of knowledge  . Feckin clown who's making a killing off gullible United supporters.

This thread moves from: gloating from Pro qatari --> virtue signaling --> rumors squashed --> gloating from SJR fans.

(I may have missed some steps)

All due to fecking glaziers.
Then there will be some hyped news from the INEOS camp and the cycle will repeat on the other side. On and on. Like Ariston.

Big day today.

We could find out if United:

1) Become a sportswashing vehicle for an autocratic regime.

Or

2) Get bought by the duplicitous Ratcliffe.

Neither is any good, unless you ignore some pretty important facts about either participant.

Will stop supporting the club if it's option one. A combination of its odious political aspect and the inevitable cityesque success which will follow.

We will become a truly hollow club (or franchise, as it's more accurate).

I can't be bothered becoming the 'up-is-down-and-black-is-white' style of city supporter I've met all too frequently. It's embarrassing. We can hear all the 'advantages' of this takeover:

Better infrastructure! New stadium! Invest in the women's team! Mbappe!

None of these temptations are more important than human rights.

Option Two fills me with a nameless dread. A return to protesting. I'm tired of protesting. I bet you are, too, but my good gosh: Lyin' Brexit Jim
and his glazer pals? No, ta.

Will wait for the pain to be formalised before informing the club my decades old association simply cannot continue. I will phase the club and all it has meant to me out of my life.

No idea how to cope without my beloved United, I guess I'll soon find out.

Does human rights matter to you in other aspects of your day to day life? Do you refuse to buy anything made at Foxconn? Do you refuse to wear your Nike trainers? Will you be protesting the British governments attempts to back out of the human rights act?

Just opened up youtube and the first video that pops up is "It's done. Breaking news - Sheikh Jassim won the bidding war for Man United" streamed 1 hour ago.... the balls on these attention seeking cnuts is incredible. The sunday sport would be proud.

Genius. If Hermann Göring used this defence at his trial, he'd have walked free.

Goldbridge has a new one too - "The Truth - Glazers Delay sale further! Kim Min Jae deal done"

How the feck do these twats get away with it?

He's like concentrated ball of all the stupidity and toxicity that exists in the Manchester United fanbase.

Can understand the euphoria over the speculation, this club has been incarcerated beneath a depressing blanket of negativity for 18 years, the fan base just wants the club back and the chains released, I do think it will be Qatar who unshackles the club soon enough.

Hopefully it's only a matter of time before Qatar do actually win.

Then SJR can feck off back to watching Chelsea.

We laugh at PSG and city all the time. Though I wouldn't laugh at Chelsea, them Americans are quick to pull a trigger. Also, don't reply to this from an iPhone, we don't want to be supporting child labor now.

I'm sorry, its just funny that human rights violations are now an exclusively Qatari thing. Do we know anything about Ineos's set of morals?
Are you comparing public company Ineos to autocratic state Qatar?

This is the dumbest argument ever and I’m not sure how it keeps getting peddled. Whataboutism is dangerous and pathetic, as shown by the fact that Trump used it constantly.

The Glazers might not be good people but they are not a State regime with multiple human rights violations (as the Qatar take-over is very clearly a State-backed acquisition with Jassim as the face of it). That is my line in the sand.

Do I have the power to stop rooting for the team or having feelings for the club? It's not black or white, even when you are in love with someone and they become a cnut and you leave them, you still have lingering feelings, maybe forever. That doesn't mean you don't fall out of love. The tribalism around this is something I don't quite understand, one of the reasons I love Utd is the romance of it, the history, and it will (in my mind) be tainted by this.

There's a lot of bargaining, what aboutism and coping going on in this thread for people that can't imagine stopping following the team, I'm fine with that, to each their own, but it's equally understandable that a Qatar backed take over would be the breaking point for a lot of us.

It's very strange to me, considering a HUGE part of the United brand is built on that romance. The narrative of Man United IS the narrative of it's self sufficiency. It's winning European Cups with different teams built out of it's academy, or from young players it bought and developed. It's recovering from setbacks & tragedy with it's own players, it's own graft, it's own mythology....United are not remotely the most successful team in football. We never have been. We're not even the most successful English club in Europe. The reason we're so beloved (and so supported) is in huge part thanks to this romantic image of the club... The irony that a lot of the supporters who support us because of this image, are more than happy to tear it down for the (vague) promise of unlimited success is so utterly depressing to me. City's treble was entirely without romance, without narrative, and yet people still looked at it and went "yeah, I wanna sell our soul for that! Gimmie gimme! And what's more I'm gonna celebrate it, and laugh in the face of anyone put off by it, because I get what I want!"

I will remain a United fan, but I will simply care less, in much the same way I care less now than I did as an obsessed 14 year old who used to cut the heads of top players Panini stickers and stick them onto duplicates of our players. Football will remain a part of my life, just a slightly less joyful part. A part I take less pleasure and certainly less pride in, as that will simply ebb away a bit into other things.... It's not a massive deal, but it's sad nonetheless. And the kind of people who consider that something to crow over, I will simply never understand.

I just don’t get it. Why is it ok in one aspect of your life but not the other? Are you down at Whitehall every day protesting our own Govts actions?

Are people expecting Qatari ownership to come in and ban LGBTQ+ from the Stadium? Or have migrant workers from Pakistan build the new ground under unsafe conditions? Of course they aren’t.

Supporting Man Utd doesn’t become support for Qatari laws. Just as having the Glazers own is isn’t support of gun rights in the States.

How are these shite arguments still being made all these months later.

Even giving a toss is binary it seems. You either care about everything or nothing? That's such an illogical, impractical and paper thin defence for human rights abuses.

It's very valid, but only when aimed at those who claim moral superiority for their isolated opinion. You can't just be selective when acting holier than thou, can you?

It’s not valid. it’s idiotic. It’s actually so dumb it boggles the mind that people are still doing it. It’s trying to turn a complex problem into a binary “either I’m ok with Qatar or I need to change my entire lifestyle and boycott absolutely every little thing wrong with the world”. It’s so dumb. How is it still a thing?

Having principles is not acting anything. And if you have any principles you have to be Jesus or some paragon of virtue to legitimise them?

Grow up.

Great post. And agree wholeheartedly.

It’s heartening to see some people come out with anti-sportswashing sentiment in a thread full of Qatar backers.

You are spot on there mate. However, sometimes it is just best to ignore certain posts and posters.

The one thing I hope does still stay in tact whoever owns us next is the academy player in every matchday squad since 1938

Yes.

sums up my feelings too.

that will remain no matter what. Under Qatar regime Utd will hoover up endless young talent in same way City have done. many will never be seen and still sold for healthy profits.

People just want to feel morally superior about everything these days while not actually behaving any better than anybody else.

I know next to nothing about the owners of the other PL clubs. They are probably all awful people.

I just don’t know why and when it matters. Like why is supporting Utd tied to your own individual morality?
