Can I ask why?

I promise not to get in to any kind to debate as to why you should or shouldn’t make that specific decision but I’m intrigued having toyed with the idea myself at the beginning of this debacle

What difference would it actually make to your support of the club? Again, I’m not trying to debate whether you’re a real ‘fan’ or not but there is a big difference between not going to games anymore and just not watching on the TV.
 
Are we officially a sportwashing club yet?

I am not against him but considering him an independent investor is ridiculous… He will either be representing QSI (the state’s fund) or using his father’s money. If it is Daddy’s money you could technically say it’s private money… But it’s still not gonna be independent from the state. There is no free market in autocracy. Ultimately everyone answers to the rulers, in this case to the Emir of Qatar.

Football died a long time ago, it’s sole purpose is now to hoover up the remaining money from us plebs into the hands of billionaire owners and corrupt officials at Uefa, Fifa etc.

Might as well board the train and enjoy watching games without dropping too much money or emotion into the game now.
 
It’s going to be a very interesting morning. The longer it goes with no word from the British press Id say the Qatar news is real. I’m expecting a ‘Insiders at United insist no deal is done’ piece at any moment.
 
Big day today.

We could find out if United:

1) Become a sportswashing vehicle for an autocratic regime.

Or

2) Get bought by the duplicitous Ratcliffe.

Neither is any good, unless you ignore some pretty important facts about either participant.

Will stop supporting the club if it's option one. A combination of its odious political aspect and the inevitable cityesque success which will follow.

We will become a truly hollow club (or franchise, as it's more accurate).

I can't be bothered becoming the 'up-is-down-and-black-is-white' style of city supporter I've met all too frequently. It's embarrassing. We can hear all the 'advantages' of this takeover:

Better infrastructure! New stadium! Invest in the women's team! Mbappe!

None of these temptations are more important than human rights.

Option Two fills me with a nameless dread. A return to protesting. I'm tired of protesting. I bet you are, too, but my good gosh: Lyin' Brexit Jim
and his glazer pals? No, ta.

Will wait for the pain to be formalised before informing the club my decades old association simply cannot continue. I will phase the club and all it has meant to me out of my life.

No idea how to cope without my beloved United, I guess I'll soon find out.

Or Joel Glazer refusing to sell Martial several times? Ultimately, if we don't change where we are with these parasites, we are going to keep falling further behind.
 
Better infrastructure and facilities to improve fans experience. The club being debt free and using the money it generates on improving the quality of the squad thus being able to complete for the biggest trophies. We are a huge club, once the shackles are gone we can beat City and Newcastle and PSG when it comes to transfers without having to dope anything.

I normally go about 15 home games a year; I’ll stop that if Qatar win.

It will mean everything I love about Manchester United is gone. The club to me should stand for hard work, dedication and a belief in doing things the right way. A Qatari state bid changes all that. With no chance of failure, reward is pointless.

Besides, he wouldn't be the only hypocrite in this thread. Just had a scan of the Qatar World Cup thread and saw some prominent pro-Qatar posters from this thread, being completely the opposite in the other thread. One poster argued against a point for the Qatar world cup in that thread, then used the very same pro-Qatar point in this thread. Obviously blinded by oil money no matter how much they protest.

@Wumminator had done what @Adnan did at least 10 times in this thread. Interestingly the reaction from a certain crowd was very different.

People have already made up their minds as to what they believe to be true, and no amount of educating them or providing them with sources about the Qatari autocracy or way of government will convince them otherwise.

Now this I do not understand.

What IF the club is just returned to what it was pre-Glazers?? Do the Qataris not even get the benefit of the doubt that they might just run us like Gill et al used to?

I think it is very premature to say say anyone should/would stop attending based on being owned by any ME state.

Yeah that’s what I’m expecting. They must all be reaching out to United we will hear something soon.

Don't see it as bad news,least we are actually hearing from Qatari sources which is positive

That’s a completely different Qatar publication isn’t it? Al Watan broke the news yesterday that’s Al Raya

Al Watan have since pinned the United news to the top of their account.

no. They don’t get that benefit. The rulers in that country have vile laws that I do not want to support,

Only Liverpool remains as a non-plastic team in the prem. What a time to be alive :(
 
I admire some of Jim supporter’s resilience. Reminds me of that Iraqi war minister giving an interview in Baghdad to say there was nothing to worry about and they were winning the war as bombs fell in the distance and American tanks were rolling in.
