Qataris aren't serious. Just let that sink in folks

Whoever wins shouldn’t be given a heros or villains welcome. Let time decide if they are worthy custodians of Man Utd and deserve our praises or condemnation. But feck Ratcliffe and his debt laden, no commitment to anything, keeping the glazers in , bid.

Appreciate that this may have been asked and answered before, but has the INEOS bid promised to clear the debt?

The briefed plans from SJR did sound decent. Think he ear marked Paul Mitchell as a DoF capacity whilst SJ wanted ex players around the club.

I think SJR will be a good match with us to be honest. I would not panic too much about Nice. Manchester United is huge and we can get the best people in the football world to work with us.

Anyway, it is not done yet, will probably be some twists and turns yet.

Whoever wins will be hated by most United fans within 2 or 3 years. At United it was ever thus.

Come on, one party wants the club. The other lot have taken Redcafe United fans for a ride. But what a ride.

Qatar wants to own United so badly that they aren't willing to negotiate a deal that actually gets them the control of a club from owners who only care about who gives more money is hilarious. Even ignoring all else - it was literally a purely financial race, and this supposed sugar daddy state can't even afford to pay up? But yet are promising all this money on infrastructure and squad? feck off  Empty promises to win fans over without needing to back it up, that's what that is.

Well, when City finally win it's 11th title in a row and bayern up the league, I'll still have the moral high ground.

Also, I have a clip of that Rooney assist-to RvP volley I'll be able to show my kids about the good times, so whatever.
You'll also be able to come on the Caf and proudly post in the thread about winning the CL 20, 25, 30 years ago.

And as an added bonus, we can start this year with a 10-year anniversary, since we last won the league and keep it going.

The possibilities of becoming and bettering Arsenal are limitless.

My favourite moral high ground is the one with the weird hypothetical fantasy future where everything has already gone disastrously wrong but the only people who truly cared enough about Man Utd get to lord it over the people who were really responsible for the heroic Qatar bid being too arrogant/incompetent to even attempt a deal beyond their own convenience - evil other fans!!

there were rumours last week of insiders feeling Jassim and co weren't seriously interested.

My breakdown on twitter:

More or less confirms what we have been discussing the last days with the numbers adding up. Definitely room for misinformation or stuff being lost in translation -- but if the information from Le Equipe and Jacobs are correct, the latest offer from 9-2 just doesn't seem to be very competitive. I would have liked to see it pressure Ineos more.

Thanks. I always look forward to your posts in this thread - you're one of the few posters here who actually contributes to the discussion instead of endlessly whining about the same thing.

Yes, it's not gone very well for them. They will probably want to forget the whole sorry affair asap - I doubt we'll ever hear anything from, or about, Jassim ever again...

It’s funny isn’t it.

Is this new Qatari bid just going to delay things even further now or can we expect some form of news soon as to who the preferred bidder is?

A month or two ago, I would have been intrigued with this new bid but now not really bothered if it succeeds or not as just want this never ending circus to end. Don’t really care if it’s Qatar or INEOS that wins, just as long as we get this thing over and down with.

Only one of his potential appointments which interests

Everything doesn't need to go disastrously wrong for us not to win feck all of consequence in the next 10/15 years. It just needs to continue on the current trajectory.

You're purposefully ignoring reality and trying to paint reasonable assumptions as unreasonable, just like the Brexit gurus did during that joke of a referendum.

But carry on with the half-arsed responses, I'm sure it helps you sleep at night.

Look, here's £6b. Take it and feck off. Hardly difficult for Qatar, assuming it's a state bid. They've been lowballing Ratcliffe, and it has been utterly bizarre from the perspective of a person stuck in this thread.

I would feel exactly the same about not bothered who wins out of Ratcliffe or Jassim IF those two leeches weren't involved

Nobody really knows anything for certain, but the sense is that Ineos and Raine have at least got it on to the fairway at this point and are closing in on a deal. Qatar are making lots of noise and achieving very little.

Can he If it’s not state backed?
Even if he isn't state backed, I'm sure he would have some influence to make thing happen or at least open potential dooe for the Glazers that would otherwise be more difficult. Even if he isn't state back I'm sure the state would probably be open to helping things out. It would also depend on what you mean by state backed. At the very minimum you'd imagine that the state support his bid and are happy to help out, even if the state is making a financial backing.

They need to try and get exclusivity which opens the opportunity to negotiate and reach that figure. Like I said earlier they can then talk about business opportunities in Qatar

At worst, were actually close to the endgame now. Qatar will bow out on Friday and then with one bidder left, it should move faster.

Plus the extra 1B for the stadium, 700m to clear the debt and then a further 1B in transfers etc? nobody is paying close to 9B mate it's completely unrealistic

Glazers have priced the club out of the market its only because saggy bollocks has given them a stay option at 50% that anything is happening

“Qatar don’t want to pay above value”. Another angle. These are people who routinely pay ridiculous money for stuff. If Qatar really wanted to buy this club, this shi would have been wrapped up months ago.

That would do it. Qatar's 4th bid and this new 5th bid are a waste of time.

What the feck are you even on about??

These asinine proclamations regarding sums of money that have actually never been spent before in professional sports history worldwide are absolutely mental.

If it was all so simple the Glazers would've had more interested buyers, the fact of the matter is not many even amongst the uber wealthy elite in the world can afford or have the will to spend unprecedented money on a football club.

People seem to believe that this is all as easy and straight forward as investing into their local fast food franchise ffs

I dont think the exclusivity stage is where you talk about the final offer.

The winning offer is the one that goes into negotiations of other detail. It's like buying a house, the best offer is accepted and the price is locked. From there they bring in lawyers and wrap it up with final details.

Their £5bn bid includes paying off the debt.

The way I see it, and I could be wrong of course, it seems that this financial offer is made in order not to lose face.

I wouldn't be surprised if we learn very soon that SJR is the preferred buyer.

If not, the media does not have a particularly good overview of what is happening, which is also entirely possible.

Sorry, I must have missed the part where we all got to vote on this?

Though I do like the bit where there’s a declarative very good and very bad outcome here, but that the people who think that aren’t the ones taking a moral high ground.

What the feck can they do if the Glazers want to stay on?
Even if Qatar offer more I guarantee the dickheads would be thinking if we keep some shares we’ll cash out big within the next 10/20 years.
How do we know Jim isn’t just buying us to flip us in a few years to oil money anyway? Get a stadium built on credit that oil country would pay off anyway because that’s what they seemingly want to do so then you have a nice, brand spanking new stadium to up the price, free of charge.
