Oh no, not fierce competition..

"Fierce opposition", rather than competition. But yes, as far as I am aware, all they can do is oppose and moan a bit. It might drag the process out, but if Qatar are the preferred bidders, the other Premier League clubs ultimately cannot block it.

I think Ineos will be named preferred bidder though, unless Qatar pull a rabbit out of the hat in extra time.

Wouldn't be surprised to see protests at the FA Cup final if Ratcliffe(with Joel and Avram still staying on) is the preferred bidder.

Hopefully it is by Friday as reported. Because if it’s the Glazers staying, we can hope for a juicy protest on Sunday. If it’s Glazers going, it can be a celebration.

I guess they could threaten a breakaway if the strength of feeling was really that strong among so many members. Given United are the biggest name in English football though it wouldn't work.

The Glazers will still be the owners at the FA Cup final, no matter what happens this week, so protests are inevitable either way.

We’ll have Fulham at home on Sunday before then.

Yeah, i do reckon we'll get an announcement if top 4 is sorted on thursday. Can imagine the protests being bigger if it seems like they are staying on.

Because the transaction involves a knight of the British Realm they can't make the announcement until the next weekly meeting between the King and Prime Minister, which is Thursday at 11:00am.

Pencil it in.

I very much doubt 17 clubs would oppose Jassim, just made up rubbish from Qatar hating Miguel.

Even if they did then so what, it won't count for anything.

Even if they did oppose Jassim, it would have no substance, just sour grapes. I imagine their sense of sportsmanship would vanish in a heartbeat if the Qataris came knocking at their door

More likely, after a lot of moaning they'd ultimately insist on revamped (stricter) FFP rules to neuter the nation state clubs a bit (and push for the investigations into City, Newcastle and, probably within a few years, United, to be expedited).

If you're Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea, it is a daunting prospect going up against three countries (rather than simply three clubs).

Miguel wants to make us think he knows something, but is 100 % guessing, based on us getting CL and the end of season been the most logical time to annouce something, yet even then still wants to cover himself just in case he's wrong.

Best job in the world.

Would the Qataris have put another bid in knowing it wasn’t going to be accepted? I’m not sure. Surely they would’ve spoke about something at this mystery meeting.

The tweet itself doesn’t really say much in all honesty.

You mean like abu dhabi and saudi?
Unlike City and Newcastle, Utd is a huge club in its own right without rich owners. With rich owners we’d be City on steroids and that’s saying something.

City/Newcastle can’t buy a global fanbase, a great football brand and heritage and an illustrious history.

Even without rich owners we’ve managed to keep up spending with City and PSG. Everyone knows with rich owners we’d be uncatchable.

Of all the clubs to get an owner like this United should be the least opposed, as we don't need a rich owner to invent our income, we just need one that is not going to steal it.

Rumours where? Are they actually rumours or just unsubstantiated drivel from bored children on twitter?
They’re not allowed to post the Twitter source in this thread so it becomes “rumours”

The point no one gets, a rich owner gets a great stadium and infrastructure etc, we can already afford the best players and don’t need Qatari money for that , just someone who will put the right people in charge to manage the club properly.

I wonder why 17 rival clubs aren't opposed to Ineos. It seem that they are quite happy to see united being owned by the lausanne/nice owner
You're relentless

If the Glazers were staying with minority bidder or staying with Ratcliffe's 50%, safe to say nothing would be announced until after Sunday.

I get the moral outrage towards Qatar. Also i get question marks too. We literally can't know how good/bad owners they will be.
But wanting Sir Jim, i don't understand. There are two huge red flags around him; his failure with two(!!) clubs and him buying only 51% which means that Glazers are staying (in next 3 years everything can happen).

So we are better off shackled I guess.

Didn’t know Delaney was the source.
Back waiting on news now after that fleeting moment of excitement

Unfortunately Delaney is a confirmed and known bullshitter who is up there with IndyKaila for making up nonsense for clicks.

Those are valid concerns. There are only three possible outcomes, though. At the end of this process, either Qatar, Ineos or the Glazer family will own a controlling interest in United. A lot of the support for the Ineos bid is based on the fact that Ratcliffe is not Avram Glazer and he's not a nation state and is therefore the least worst option (even with your valid concerns).

Come on. Known devil is better than an unknown one. Would rather Glazers stay than Ratcliffe.

If Ratcliffe was American his very same supporters would be vilifying him and shitting the prospect of him becoming owner.

But because he's 'one of our own' (with a Chelsea season ticket) and the Qataris will apparently turn Manchester into a medieval landscape, then he's supposedly our best option.

Nonsense. People don't see him as the best option, they just see him as the lesser of three evils. You don't have to pick a side. They should all be treated with suspicion. Not welcomed in with open arms because they promise a few new signings.

Juicy protest? What a few lads marching up Deansgate again? Few bedsheet banners?
