Which makes no sense. They're hardly strapped for cash.

And the supposed front is known and in business in the UK. That's the part that I don't understand, why would influential people in the UK be difficult toward someone like Hamad Al Thani or his son when they are in constant business with them? I could understand if it was a nobody from the UK standpoint but it's not the case. Do we think that they would tarnish their relationshio with him for no apparent gains?

If this latest tweet has any substance then Sheikh Jassim or Qatar seem to be searching for reasons/excuses for letting Sir Jim win the auction. I think they can do much better with 6 billion than throw it at a football club.

Building hospitals and schools is an eternal investment.

it's they're turn for some brinkmanship. Take the cash or else we'll screw Hotspurs over. I

Not flashy enough

Rather than going over this again (it has been done to death, and no: I can't provide with you undeniable, incontrovertible evidence that this is a state bid, you know this already), let me ask you this:

Are you against state ownership? If I could provide you with undeniable evidence that it's actually the state of Qatar bidding for Manchester United, would you then be against it?

In the absence of any evidence to the contrary and taking into account the facts I have presented, then you should be open to the possibility that this is indeed a private bid.

I would prefer there was no state ownership in football but already too late for that.
There are states that I would be against owning my club, Qatar is not one of them.

I'm sure they will move on to a new club but this is speculative bullshit as always from the express. More likely they'd go back for Liverpool.
Or the team in London with the best stadium in the country. Spurs are ripe for someone to turn them into a sugar daddy club

Hopefully a load of bollocks. I would hate to see a perennial bottling club like Spurs suddenly turned into a trophy winning machine while we slug it out for a Europa League spot under Brexit Jim.

I'm not a Ratcliffe guy, but you could say that about Elon or Bezos or anyone on the Forbes Richest list. Most of their wealth is based upon assumed value of their companies.

Yeah you could, and you'd be right. Musk had to borrow and finance to buy Twitter, a mere fraction of his assumed 'net worth' compared to what United's value is (even simply just buying most of Glazer's stock) is to Ratcliffe's.

Nobody argues he cannot put together financing of a deal to buy control of the club. Undoubtedly he can. I think the pushback comes from "He's worth $13bn, if he buys us we'll be minted". I think that's very naive. He'll have to borrow to buy the club then likely borrow to invest in the stadium.

The only way anyone can think otherwise is to think he's taken every penny Ineos has made as net profit over many years and pocketed it himself as dividends. Spoiler: he hasn't. In 2021 Ineos made a £500m profit. In 2020 they made a £226m loss.

Where is this £5bn coming from if not from the banks?

His estimated net worth just 9 months ago was £6bn

If Qatar don't get us I expect they'll invest in some sort of moon base and use it to destroy Old Trafford with powerful lasers.

 I could imagine that sketch but with one of the Glazers in his place.

"It's still nil-nil, Chris!"
"You're at the game?"
"...Yes..."
"The game at Old Trafford?"
"...Indeed..."
"But United have just scored."
"...oh yes, Chris. Wow! The crowd are making the stadium around me shake. It's really quite something."
"Who scored the goal, Avram?"
"....I think the connection is a li-"
"Avram! Who scored the goal for United?"
".... Cristiano Ronaldo...?"
"You're not at the game are you, Avram? You're IN FLORIDA washing your ponytail aren't you?"
".....sorry, Chris."
Lovely, lovely stuff ..

Now over to the sports desk..

The Qatari's offer is believed to be significantly improved on his first, although it is still thought to value United at a lower price than Ratcliffe.
Don't fancy their chances much if this is true.

Valuation of share price thought to remain below SJR

What’s the point if it’s still below what SJR is offering the Glazers?

So they were negotiating with the Qataris at Jassim's dad's hotel. And the article in thr Express was a take it or leave it. It's now been confirmed by their mouthpiece.

Come on Jassim, drive the Glazers and their pal Jim out of the club.

Though still seems a bit pointless if they still get more in their pocket from the Ratcliffe bid. Weird that Qatar is still standing firm about buying all the shareholders out at this stage

I don't believe in these Qatar'is at all. They seem very sketchy and might not have the money at all.

I believe that both bidders have had to show proof of funds to get to this stage.

STILL below Sir Jim
Who’s telling them this?
Can’t imagine Raine are telling Jassim how high Ineos bid is?
Can’t imagine Raine are telling him how much the bids are
Can’t imagine Ineos is telling Jassim how much they are

If the Qataris thought the Glazers are overestimating the value of United, good luck trying to negotiate with Levy. Don't think he'd let go of Spurs for anything less than 4B.

Can clearly see which side of the fence The Times are on. Why that picture and not the one of the fellas holding up the Qatari flag at OT?

Anyway, don’t see the point in this latest offer if it’s still below Jim’s value for the Glazers shares. Whats their incentive to take the Sheikh’s offer? These parasites are only interested in themselves.
