Club Sale | It’s done!

What a depressing post. Yeah let's do away with any challenge or actually earning trophies, let's just spend as much as City/Newcastle til we win.
You earn trophies on the pitch. It will always be that way. Look at Chelsea. Spending money doesn’t equal success. Look at us as another example.

Maybe it’s a trap for Jassim to up his bid? Classic press tactics
Which it could be

If they want a full sale, why wouldn’t they pick Jassim to negotiate with exclusively and say the valuation hasn’t been met instead of the current tactic.

I'd rather keep a couple of Glazers around in minority roles if it stops us being state owned. I know many of you have pretended to be disgusted by City and PSG for years when you were actually just jealous. I was actually just disgusted.

What a really silly comment.

How did Liverpool win the league and get over 95pts twice without oil money then?

You don't need to be sportswashers to win. You need a top manager and have top people behind the scenes running things, something Liverpool have.

Look at Liverpool go now.

There will always be outliers. I’d hope United fans wouldn’t want us to be outliers but rather competing consistently.

You don't know them, they are not Elon Musk and they don't necessarily see it as a risk. I mean take the Raiders as an example, they are owned by a man that is worth roughly the same amount as the two Glazer brothers if he decided to sell that franchise he would multiply his worth more than 10 but as far as I know it hasn't been a topic, he wants to own the franchise that his father gave him.
Honestly have no idea about the Raiders and how their owner has treated them.

Has he been like our owners who have visited OT less than a handful of times and have not shown any real interest in our club's decline on the field? Has he kept a former investment banker who has no idea about the sport as the CEO who has absolutely fecked the club?
Has he tried to form a super league with other clubs to get more money at the cost of alienating the fans further?

You say as if we have not seen proof of how the Glazers have treated United as a cash cow and just a business they can siphon off of.

Looks like the Sheik has been badly advised. Probably thought that Sir Jim wouldn’t pony up the cash.

I apologise for my past comment. United are quite important for me I having slept for quite some time and have some health issues at the moment. Yet that is not an excuse for what I said which was OTT.

Anyway I don't want to sabotage the thread any further. I hope that whoever owns the club treats it good.
Take good care of yourself and let's hope the new owners will take good care of Utd as well. That's what we all want.

At the expense of being sports washers for Qatar? No thanks.

We could have won the league a few times over the last decade with better decisions made. It hasn't been a lack of transfer funds that's let us down. We have spent as much as City have.

And sir Jim has much more money than the Glazers do. Think about that.

If there is no competition; why they feel the need to up their bid. We’ll find out soon what the story is regardless.

Nobody knows which side the leaks are coming from. First it’s said Qatar’s bid includes the investment, then it got denied by Qatar supposedly. Nobody knows truthfully what the feck is happening, we just need to wait for the dust to settle a bit and then see.

If Qatar have been outbid they've been outbid, they have no right to the club. That's the way it is.

If they come with a higher bid or it was higher all along so be it.

Same here.

Its actually shocked and saddened me how many people want Qatar owners.

BBC have just put up the story as well. I doubt they would put their name to rumours or speculations.

I think we should wait for someone from a financial background to provide clarity. Someone from the FT or Bloomberg will provide concrete news. The sports journalists are not the ones to provide that, especially at this stage.

Sir Jim wins a race, Glazers staying as minority owners, dept stays, Qatari buying Liverpool.
Nightmare scenario is closer and closer.

Complete nonsense.

Qatar could have made an offer for Liverpool for less than they are bidding for United. Liverpool also don't need a complete Stadium overhaul.

You guys have latched onto “sportswashing” without actually proving this isn’t a private bid from an individual that happens to be a Qatari. I mean, he has reportedly been outbid by Ratcliffe, no? Doesn’t seem like something a state intent on their sportswashing agenda would let happen.

We are where we are and we’ll need considerably investment in the team moving forward to keep up, all while needing to fund a new stadium/renovations - not even mentioning upgrades in training infrastructure, as well as academy.

Yet his bid doesn’t clearly outline anything regarding existing debt nor plans for investment. Also, his other football club doesn’t seem to be doing/have done too great.

Likely citing the same source as the others who broke the news earlier though. So it would have to be somebody with inside knowledge of both bids for us to be able to conclude that it's true.

That will be disastrous and basically no better than what we are now.
I actually fear it would be much worse than it is currently, given that we're in need of huge investments on and off the field. The stadium and training facilities need a load of money, we're probably looking at at least £200m to be spent on the first team squad in the summer, and we've got a lot of pending transfer fees to be paid off as well. This is really the reason the glazers are selling off in the first place.

Now if the new owner is going to take loans to buy United (even if the loan would be on the parent company) and isn't very committed to the above investment requirements, I don't see how it's not worse than the current situation.

Agreed. Only thing to know now is whether it's an intentional leak to get Qatar to up their bid because all of the Glazers want to cash out?

They will probably share the same sources as certain journos. They were just as guilty as everyone else with the second stage farce of bids

We're Manchester United not fecking Newcastle. With a good owner we can compete with any club.

First, SJR is NOT a good owner (see Lausanne and Nice). Second, clearing the debt should be a priority but will not happen without deep pockets. And thirdly, competing on the transfer market demands ever deeper pockets.

If SJR is the best Britain has to offer as a rich man, then no wonder why the country is in trouble.

Not a penny of glazers debt will be paid off by him, so why some prefer the rat cliffe.
feck off Brexit Jim! Utd fan my arse. No true Utd fan would allow these parasites to remain in any capacity.
He is not paying any of the debt, only greedy to get his hands on 50+% share. Ratcliffe ownership is no better than the glazers. PL should ban these debt takeovers.

City are facing 100+ charges for how they built their team. Going forward they will need to build their team with money they earn (plus 60m/year in outside investment).

Newcastle will either have to cheat, or build their team with money they earn (plus 60m in outside investment).

United will only be able build based on the money we earn (plus 60m in outside investment), or else cheat.

If FFP is enforced, United will have an advantage over everyone, even if the club merely spends what it earns. The calculus of what it takes to compete with City should be changing once those 100+ charges are settled.

You're incredibly naïve.

That would be my guess. In which case the subsequent Qatar brief would be Jassim's camp calling their bluff.

It can't be coming from INEOS's camp - it's not in their interest to try to drive up the bidding.

A few things Joel and Avram are the only two that have been involved in the club dealings, so they seemingly cared enough to be actively involved. Out of 6 siblings two have been involved and are co-chairmen while 4 haven't and are said to not care one bit about the club but those have a controlling majority.

Also CEOs of Football clubs are generally not Football people, Woodward has the exact same background than Gill or Kenyon. I also don't know what makes him have no idea about the sport, his peers at the ECA seemed to think otherwise.
