Classic Photos

I seen a brilliant picture before that I had as my desktop background of Macheda, Fletcher & Welbeck just after Kiko scored that winner against Villa. I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find it?

I'd hope it was less sexually aggressive if it was his desktop background.

I didn't see your post.

I was waiting for those HQ pictures, to make it 1440x900...

They had those printed up and attached to the car park railings opposite the East Stand at the start of the season. They looked great. Wonder what happened to them, as they've been replaced with pictures of the current players since.

Found a flickr account with a huge stash of stuff. But you can't get the image url for posting the pics, or drag them to your desktop, so I'm taking screenshots and cropping them down.

If you want to look through the stream it's here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterunitedman1/ . Some of the pics have captions if you're curious about the details.

I don't think I saved them all in their biggest forms either, so if there's one where you can't read the print, try the flickr stream.

Nice images, Goo. I really think you need to give credit to the people who have spent years buying these items and then hours scanning them though.

I know the guy who put these up and I know he'd rather people just visited his Flickr site rather than posted them up on forums.

You're quite welcome! I'm pretty amazed by this person's collection!

I can tell you for certain, he will not be amazed by the fact that you've uploaded all these images here.

I suppose some of it is Flickr's fault for having such stupid policies with regards to sharing images - they should have a simple image code with embedded link back to the original image page, but they don't.

I don't know, what does he get out of someone going to his flickr page rather than seeing them here? I did give him credit...

Though I seem to have a bandwidth problem and all the pics are gone now. Hmm.

Well, on Flickr there are no bandwidth problems and you can see how many people visit your stream, look at each photo and read any comment they have left about them. It bugs me when I see forums such as Redissue have linked loads of my flickr stuff to one of their threads and I can see where the views are coming from but not what is being said about the images. I think it's the same for Leslie - that's why he's disabled the ability for users to see the (much bigger) full-size scans and get right-click features such as image links.

I suppose. Mods, I'll take them down if you want me to, lemme know. I would think 99% of the pics in this thread were shared without the original copyright owner's consent. If United had a display of their memorabilia as such I wouldn't feel bad about posting copies elsewhere for those that don't come across their offering.

If he was making money off ads for his site I'd agree that he should have some exclusivity, but I don't care if flickr get the hits or this site does.

I'll re-upload them to a flickr account, but it will be a few days.

You will still have bandwidth problems unless you have a paid-for Flickr Pro account though. Maybe the fact that he has paid for his account and spent so much time uploading his stuff is part of the reason he wants people to look at his images on Flickr rather than copying loads of them to outside forums.

He has let me use his images on blogs and on my website, but we credit him for every image used.

Too many pages to go through here, but has anyone got that pic of Niall Quinn missing a pen for City in the derby infront of United fans...? Every Red is pointing and laughing at him.

Okay, so I went with the facebook solution. Again, if posting these causes any problems I'm happy to take them down. I'm certainly not looking to profit in any way, just share these historic images with fellow admirers of this club's great history.

I'm going to trickle them out over the summer, here's the first 10!

Visit the man's site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterunitedman1/ for all these images and descriptions!

[Okay, FB didn't work, the images disappeared. I tested this by going to a popular FB pic site and trying to view and post the image in it's own page, and it worked. But today I tried it again and the pic disappears. Anyone have any idea what that's about? Going with imgboot.com this time, claims unlimited bandwidth, we'll see!]
