If we don’t get good players in then the choice is either you’re a bit part player for a team in crisis, or you’re starting every game for a worse team, but a team with a better atmosphere.

Again not sure what that got to do with the made up ITK tweet.

Again he hardly be a bit part player if wee don't get any players, he most certainly he stating every game in a "crisis team" that will still be streets ahead of Brentford. Apparently they have better team atmosphere as well.

I don't even know what your point is

Gone were the days when players were dying to play for Man Utd.

Now we are waiting for a 30 years old with serious heart conditions to decide between Brentford and us.

Plenty of players had rejected us in the past even when we were winning things under Sir Alex, mate

Did you watch last season? Do you honestly think our team atmosphere was anywhere near good. Arguably the only team with a more dejected set of players was Everton. Brentford has a great season, they were promoted and stayed up pretty comfortably with Eriksen being their star in the second half. He’s not been a player who really cares about money, he left Spurs with a better offer on the table there. He wants to play and enjoy his football. If it looks like we’d continue in the same vein as last season why would he want to join? Just like ETH wanted assurances to join, Eriksen will want to see that we’re on the up. Just as it’s rumoured Ronaldo is doing.

It’s not a defeatist attitude. If we don’t make good signings we are going to struggle this season. I mean there’s obviously a reason he hasn’t made his decision yet. Otherwise he’d have announced he was joining us a week or so ago.

Outside of your cartoon version of the world there are many factors to making a life decision.

Perhaps it's more that failing to complete those deals from here would be a sign of continued off pitch failures

Absolutely. For him coming to a dysfunctional version of United would be a waste of the second chance people speak of him getting. So much better to stay at Brentford and be idolised and play every week in front of a crowd that probably won't ever get on his back.

But we are huge; and if he sniffs that he could be a cog in our resurgence then he'd struggle to say no to that.

You realize he’s only playing for brentford, because they offered him a spot after a cardiac arrest, right

Yes but when the option is us or Brentford why does it matter who we sign? We'll still have a better cast.
Unless he is literally saying don't sign anyone who keeps me out?
Or will only bother to leave the romantic option of staying put if we'll have half a chance of competing?

Do you really think he would have enjoyed playing here as much as he visibly enjoyed playing at Brentford last season?

Maybe, given his condition, he's having second thoughts on playing under the pressure that will exist at man utd

He can have a lovely ol time at Brentford, hey relegated and no one would care

Tell that to literally anybody affiliated with Brentford

I was being glib and not totally serious, of course but Brentford would not really be expected to remain a PL force for too long. They'll enjoy the season and fight to stay up but if they went down there wouldn't be too much furore

Man Utd draw against a bottom half side and the knives will be out the world over. The pressure is not comparable

Really hope we get him. Has any player ever done more to get back to this level. An inspirational guy and a quality player. The kind of determination to succeed we need more of in our dressing room for sure and a brilliant replacement for all the qualities Mata had on and off the field. He wants assurances perhaps, maybe waiting to see how stocked we will be in his positions…all fairly understandable for a player who’s come this far and doesn’t want to end it just taking money for sitting on a bench. Further proof we need his type for me.

Am I reading its better to stay at Brentford than go Man Utd?

The last few years have really done a number on the fanbase.

I've literally explained it at length. Are you a headline writer or just to lazy to read the last few posts?

I know this might blow your mind but it's different for a veteran international with a heart condition than let's say a promising 23 year old looking to break into an International set up?

Any clearer?

Edit - literally, the post you quoted explains it.

Really surprised that is just Brentford and us that are in for him. Surely the likes of Everton, Brighton, Villa etc. could benefit from his experience.

Yes, but they may just be well stocked in the said position. Villa have coutinho for example.

Erikson is always a player i thought we should have signed a long time ago. We would have if LVG hadnt been fired that summer. A quality player who creates alot of chances from open play and dead ball situations.

Rumours Leicester and Newcastle also offered a contract but who knows. I’m expecting him to sign for Brentford again I think.

This guy literally did die.. and now he is coming here.

I know little about him but thought he came across slightly simple in that Spurs documentary.

So does Paul Scholes. Don't have to be a smart human to be a smart footballer.
Oh yeah no doubt he's a brilliant player. I'm not really sure what point I was making to be honest.

He's sitting at brentford without any offer from other clubs and is acting cocky demanding utd sign quality players first.

How is he affected if we sign or not ? Its not like he's has a chance of winning the title with brentford and therefore joining us might put that into jeopardy.

Not the right attitude.

You guys have the weirdest notions at times. He is entitled to take his time

Would be odd that that's what would sway him

This is just BS. We weren't even in for Malacia till a week ago and now he's a requirement for Eriksen to join United. Get over it.

What next? As soon as the Antony rumors take hold, the press says Eriksen will join only if United sign Antony?

I can guarantee considerations about playing time, his role in the squad, moving his family away from London, expectations / pressure at United are a lot more important than our transfer dealings.

There isn't even a source for it. Vague mentions of 'according to reports' and links back to their own unsourced article which is also based on 'reports' and then they make the claim that 'the report' also mentions he's waiting to see who we sign. Jokers

I can imagine it's not necessarily about Malacia, but more about the guarantee that Ten Hag will be backed with some more players who can play in a certain playing style so that there is an environment in which Eriksen can also thrive as a player.. I can imagine he isnt necessarily looking forward to being the only new face in last years Man Utd..

Why is this even a reasonably realistic scenario to think about though? We spent quite a bit basically every season, so it's almost impossible for us to go in without spending 100M+ this year. The only question is if we spend 100M or 200M.

We're negotiating for FdJ and failing that we'll still have the same money for other players.

The coach has more of an impact on the style of play than any single player and in EtH he knows exactly what he's getting - I'd understand if he has reservations over joining, say a Mourinho United side. But even a Mourinho United will be a lot more dominant and use more of his skills than Frank's Brentford.

I really don't believe the FdJ signing has anything to do with this transfer.

I agree, it sounds very much farfetched..
