Christian Eriksen | Signs for Manchester United

Would he want to come here to presumably be Bruno's understudy - unless the new manager was intending to go like man city and play two attaching midfielders

Its great to see him playing again and I would live him here but I think going somewhere else may be a better fit for him - could see him back at spurs (I think he and Conte were on good terms in the end?)

My guess is that he ends up at Newcastle on some crazy wages

Nunez, Nkunku and Eriksen would be a good start in our attacking department for ETH first transfer window. Ideally, Anthony but I dont think we can afford him along with Nkunku and Nunez.

I can see Eriksen deployed as an more advanced 8 playing alongside DVB in ETH’s system. The intricate passing and combination play with a front 3 of Sancho, Nkunku and Nunez would be interesting and entertaining.

Being heavily linked with us today in the press. Wouldn’t be against it as we’re losing so many players, they can’t all be ultra expensive signings. Need a mixture of players aslong as they have the right mentality and quality , which he does.

From The Star so likely bollocks

After seeing him collapsed on the pitch for what seemed like a eternity I'd be sh*tting bricks to have him here for us. Crazy I know because he's clearly well enough now to still be a influential figure for teams.

Used properly and having his game time properly managed Eriksen on a free could be a real game changer for us as we haven’t had a playmaker since Scholes and to a lesser extent Carrick, we’d be doing great business bringing in Eriksen and Kamara both on free transfers this summer.

I believe if we offer him a contract, he would consider. We may not in in the champion league next season but with a proper manager and a good transfer window, we will compete in 2-3 years so why wouldn't he join. I am sure he wants to win something and having work with ETH, he should know what kind of manager is he signing up for. I think he is a very clever player, definitely pick out a pass better than anyone we have now.

Class player and a part of me wants to believe he can be like a Modric who's still playing at the top level despite his age. But the risk is quite high - he's 30, he's had a massive heart scare, we are rebuilding under a manager who would want to install a high press/high work mentality. Not sure the risk would pay off.

Love him but definitely not. We need to move away from this kind of deal.

Why would we want this guy when we've got VDB coming back and Mejbri pushing for minutes, doesn't make sense at all. He hasn't got the legs anymore for aggressive pressing football anyway, and I wouldn't want to be the manager that yells at him to run more only to see him collapse on the pitch again.

He’d be the perfect Mata replacement. As in, a technically gifted older player who doesn’t really fit and would just take up a space in the wider squad at the cost of younger talent

This thread is the Mata syndrome, logic and reason seems to go out the window with some people when it's a player that they have a soft spot for.

I would take him, he will be coming on a free, is well suited to the premier league, he is a model professional and a great role model for the younger players, technically better than all our current midfield options, he fits ten hag's style and has the potential to morph into a more deeper lying midfield position and he isn't that old, besides have we not learned from watching moutinho school our midfield everytime we face wolves that not write off eriksen as a worth while signing for our midfield just because he is 30 years old.

I would rather have him in the number 10 position over the stroppy and wasteful fernandes.

Just because he is good technically that doesn't mean he is suited to the Ten Hag system, there are more requirements than just that. He'll never be a deep lying midfielder in the premier league either, he's not physically robust enough for that. It would be like trying to play Mata in CM, result will be the same.

Ten Hag is one of the most physically demanding coaches in Europe.

A 2-year deal to add a bit of width, experience and quality to the midfield area? I'm not sure. Doesn't sound like the worst idea in the world, as long as it doesn't come at the cost of also recruiting younger players for the long term.

I definitely wouldn't use the heart thing as an argument against it. It would more be if he has the energy to press and fits the playstyle. But I also think he would want to be a starter in whichever team he chooses - he also has the World Cup to look forward to. So I don't think we are a match for him.

I was thinking the same. Tired of seeing us constantly lose the ball because of Bruno.

Could he not play in the Scholes role? The Scholes mk2 that is after he evolved his game into a dm deep lying type role. I don’t see why not. Passing, vision and reading of the game look top

He’ll be a bargain for whoever gets him. Probably ends up back at Spurs with Pochettino.

I'd take him for a sensible wage, he's a quality player and we'll need him for all the games we've got. If we can get him for a good price and keep the wage respectable then it's a no brainer.

No brainer free signing for me. He might not want to come to United though? If he does it would be a very useful addition especially against teams we should dominate possession, he would create a lot of chances for Ronaldo no doubt.

Got the Ajax connection and trained with them before coming to Brentford so I’m sure ETH is well aware he is free this summer.

He’d go to Brentford but not United!?

Not many sides will give him the amount of space as we did tonight, especially if he's playing for us

Would be a fantastic Mata replacement and rotation for Bruno. We could certainly do worse.

Definitely still has it. Wouldn't be against it but then where does that leave Donny?
