What makes you think they can afford his wages? Ajax’s highest wages is Haller 68k. Eriksen is on 260k p.w at Inter, worst case his wages wouldn’t be dropped to below 100k at brentford. The answer of your question remains the same that Ajax can’t afford his wages.
Is staying in London really a factor in this deal when Manchester is just 2 hours on a train (45 minute flight).

This always confuses me, too. I live in Manchester and London is literally not a long journey on the train. If they want the London nightlife they can have it, they would just have to book a hotel or something which they could do easily.
Can imagine we'll know on this one either way pretty soon. His contract with Brentford will expire on the 30th so certainly by the end of the month.

Some people have a thing called loyalty, such as staying with the employer who took what was a massive risk on you when you nearly died and giving them an extra year on what is undoubtedly a very healthy wage packet believe it or not, Grimey.
I know I get that, but I really don't think commuting from London to Manchester to work (especially as a footballer) is that bigger a deal over a 2/3 year period.
Large percentages of people in the professional game have their family in one place and work somewhere else.
Saying that, after what happened last summer, I wouldn't be surprised if family time was his priority and he wanted to spend as much time with them as possible.
Anyway, I hope we sign him. I love technical footballers who are confident on the ball. Him and FDJ would transform that midfield.

It was mutually beneficial for both at the time and he was great for Brentford. He owes them nothing though and will want to play for a bigger club. If he signs for Brentford you can come back to me but it won't happen.

He's been based around London for the past 5 months. This time last year he lived in Italy, then he moved back to Denmark, and then spent time in the Netherlands. That solid foundation of 5 months of basic stuff must be too much to give up.
Inclined to agree. I don't think it's completely beyond the realms of possibility that he'll stay but this is probably his last chance to get a crack at a bigger club and that must be of some appeal to him. My hunch is he'll end up at Spurs but we'll see, I've said before I think he'd be a decent pick up for us on a free.

You’re not allowed to play professional sports in Italy with a pacemaker. Italy is very much the exception with such a rule.

If you lived in Hale or Bowdon and played at United, you’d have things pretty great. Plenty of great homes around, 20 minute drive to training, really good schools. Then you have some decent countryside and parks on your door step. Manchester airport also only 20 mins away. To me, it seems absolutely ideal but I must be missing something.

Eriksen is class, he has not been coached or used well at Inter Milan.
It seems like ETH genuinely wants Eriksen strongly based on what the media is saying. Fair enough, we should go hard to sign him in that case. I'm still quite confused about where ETH sees him playing. Is it going to be a midfield 2 of FDJ and Eriksen behind Fernandes? That seems like quite a defensively weak midfield to me but maybe it will work better than I expect.

I'm not convinced this one is over. If he doesn't want to live outside of London, then what more is there to decide. It's a pretty easy decision between playing Champions League football at Spurs and battling relegation with Brentford.
Wanting to stay in London if Chelsea were interested would be understandable but to prefer to stay in London and have Spurs or fecking Brentford as options over playing for United is quite a ridiculous stance, if true.

Well London would be better than any city in the world for multi millionaires and we’re not just talking about living experience here. There might be family/friend reasons. He lived in London for 7 years.
United would be the biggest and most famous club he’d ever played for. If he prefers the familiarly of London instead then fair enough. His loss.
Brentford, Spurs, United...3 teams that are going to realistically win nothing next year, so I can understand his decision coming down to location.
When you watch Barca and City play thier midfielders aren't defensive beasts. They are masters at the retaining possession & closing down space as a group to win back possession. FDJ and Eriksen are excellent at both.
I think Bruno should be worried about his position long term.
London is painfully overrated. It's just a big city like any other UK big city.
