Christian Eriksen | Signs for Manchester United

If people genuinely think youth is all we need for a successful football club and not players who have been there and done it, you're mad. Eriksen is a quality player, on a free and as a bit part player for 2 years in a growing side he'd be well worth it. Amazed at the negativity to be honest. If you can get 4 players in and Christen Eriksen on a free, that's a majorly successful summer.

Also I want the Brandon Williams/Eriksen love in to continue.

Depending on the wages, he’d be a fantastic option to have and a good step towards the necessary overhaul of the dressing room culture. I’m not sure how he and Bruno fit in one team, however.

Rotate them. YOu know how Bruno is like towards the end of the season when he has been overplayed etc. He can share the responsibility with this gem of a player.

I like Bruno but Eriksen is a better 10 than Bruno in every way bar goal scoring imo. Could Bruno and him play in the same team, I'm doubtful but to be honest I'm not sure that should be the main concern. There are four competitions and whoever is playing better will play the main ones.

If both Bruno and Mata could play together, why can’t Bruno and Eriksen?

He is a better passer of the ball and a better set piece taker than anyone in the Man Utd squad, and he would cost nothing. Not sure why people are against this.

Mata and Lingard have left the building I don’t see why people are complaining about this one . It’s a no brainer if he’s ok been a squad player
Agreed. Yes we have had 3 midfielders leave (Matic as well). Eriksen would be a useful addition to the squad.

I mean, that’s kinda my point. If there’s not a natural way to fit them both in the team, I can’t see Eriksen coming. He’d probably just as soon remain the main man at Brentford than come here and be a squad player… or just go back to Spurs and play in the CL.

Why are people factoring VDB into this conversation? Again, I'll ask, who would you rather have - the Eriksen who played for Brentford for the last 6 months or the VDB who played for Everton for the last 6 months (let's not mention his previous time at Utd).

VDB is a busted flush, there is nothing to suggest he has anything to offer this team going forward.

It's the VDB obsessive brigade in action. They think that with ETH coming VDB will reclaim his right to the throne in the CAM position and will turn his career back to former glory.

But Eriksen/United has 2 things going:

1. He knows ETH and benefitted from ETH's goodwill by allowing him to train with Ajax when he was recovering. After coming back from a near-death situation, those things mean a lot. It changes how you see the world. Every day he is playing is a blessing and a joy.
2. At 30, he really shouldn't expect or want to play every game for health reasons. Sharing with Bruno is caring. I expect his wife to chime in on this. Its the EPL where every match is critical and not some Welsh League.

I would take him for sure on a free... but I don't really understand the logic in the signing. Unless Ten Hag actually sees Bruno as a wide player? Eriksen is far better than Van de Beek, but if we are using Bruno as a 10, then Van de beek is more than fine to be our depth for the #10 position while we are in the europa league (or just keeping Hannibal). So I don't really think he's going to be meant as a back up to Bruno, but more to play alongside Bruno and be a regular.

Chance we see him as a backup to Frenkie De Jong as the deeper playmaker with Ten Hag retraining him? His on the ball play style I think would definitely suit it, although we would need a very strong defensive midfielder next to him and behind Bruno. I dunno. It's a weird one. Everyone loves their #10's I guess.

Eriksen also played as wide playmaker under Poch with Alli playing behind striker.

Eriksen is versatile and technical, Ajax 18/19 team had about 4 playmakers starting (De jong, Schone, Tadic, Ziyech), we currently have two playmakers likely to start (Sancho, Bruno), I can see why he'll fancy adding a couple hopefully we'll land De jong too.

Would be a good squad option but we need someone to play beside FDJ (if he comes) and I don't think that player is Eriksen. Unless Ten Hag is planning to use Bruno on the right and Eriksen in the center like:

-------------------Striker---------------------
Sancho------Eriksen-------Bruno----
--------------DM-------FDJ-----------------
Shaw----Varane---Timber------RB

He'd be a great rotation option for us - He was fantastic since he signed for Brentford.

The question is if he's willing to be on the bench for us vs starting for Brentford every week.

Think he was also used by Conte in a deeper role for Inter. Don't think he still has the legs for that though..

The mind boggles. I mean someone was calling him a pensioner even though he's early 30 ffs. No indication he's lost a beat either after coming back

We have also lost players like Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Cavani who all played mins taking up attacking positions. We need numbers too, we need lot of attackers.

Yeah, not sure if he can play lot of games with high workrate if we play him in deeper role, he will add lot of creativity to the team either in Bruno's position or from wide right position.

Only way this makes sense if ETH wants to use Bruno as a wide creator or sell VdB.

Or maybe as an alternative to FDJ?

Wanted him when he was at Ajax and Spuds. Class player, rotational piece, finds space, great delivery (Bruno has terrible delivery), could play with Bruno against weaker sides, Bruno running off the ball, with Eriksen finding him could work.

It's a free, not big money and shows he can still play. Do have to consider his health issue but hopefully he is fine!

Yes they can both play in the same team if ETH uses Bruno as he uses Tadic in Ajax.

On a free, proven he can keep up in the PL, decent age of 30. At a time when we need some serious numbers coming in?

Yes please. We need to be smart with transfers now in the next few windows. Can’t throw 50million+ on every player.

This would be an excellent move and for all those who moan about United's spending as if it was their own money, he won't cost anything to sign! He doesn't even have to be one of those who plays every single game if we buy 2-3 younger midfielders. We needed two new midfielders last season at least and have "lost" (and I use that term very loosely) Pogba so three is the minimum we should get, in my opinion. And they should not be all the same type of player - we need different people for different games so that we can play different games. Last season, every opponent knew exactly how we were going to play every single bleeding game

Might be a clever bit of business to sell Donny and sign Eriksen on a free. We get a better player and money to put back into the team

Bit harsh. He's been at the club for 2 years and he's played about 400 minutes of league football in that time. He clearly wasn't Ole's signing, but he has exactly what Teny needs to get his style up and running.

He's a fantastic 1 and 2 touch footballer and he's quite handy in the tackle as well. Better than Mctominay in that department if you ask me. Ole should have given him a go.

I would count him in the squad but plan transfers as if he is the poor version. If he comes good then great if he doesn't no loss on the the field. Then sell in January.

It'd be amazing if we can get Ajax or Everton to put in a 15-20M offer for Donny.

I like Eriksen but am a little concerned if we’re focussing our efforts on one of the few positions that we have appropriate resources in. It’s a like for like replacement for Mata but Mata himself was not a good fit for us and was only being used as cover on the wings and not number ten.

There's always this reaction of where will he play and what happens to this other guy when we're linked to players. We need a squad, with quality in depth. Just look at our rivals domestically and in Europe. Many benches make our first team look like a joke. Let the manager worry about who plays and when/where. There's definitely enough games in a season. Eriksen was no nailed-on starter in Inter's team.

Quick thinker on the ball and decision making is top notch.

Be a great addition to the squad. Would love it to happen.

At no cost and decent wage demands (I assume), this is a no brainer specially as Bruno can have bad periods!!

Him, FDJ and a CDM…. With a striker upfront….and hopefully a defender will be a perfect window!!
