Top clubs in Europe (Real, Atletico, Juve) are waiting for United to be out of the running, cos they know they will be able to get Eriksen at a knock-down price. I imagine Levy will be happy with this as well because he won't want to strengthen a Top-4 rival.

They fluked a Champions League final for the first time in their entire history, and lost comfortably. Stop thinking for the minute, and think the bigger picture. By your logic, Celtic are a better prospect because they have Champions League this year.
Not sure that really makes sense. It paints us as this storm cloud circling above other European heavyweights ready to outbid them for any player they're interested in just because 'we can'
Specifically in Eriksen's case I really doubt we want him enough that we care if he goes abroad, if he were a priority signing they'd of been a lot more of this earlier in the transfer window rather than the last 4 days

he will also be aware of the fact Chelsea are likely out of the running for top 4 this year. that's one less competitor. the possibility that Eriksen is the primary reason why United would knock Spurs out of the top 4 seems pretty low to me, especially if they use the Eriksen money to get Bruno. there's a good chance it'll be Tottenham and United both in the top 4, meaning Arsenal would miss out.
They were the only ones keeping pace with Liverpool and City for half a season and even after a total and complete collapse in the League, they still managed to make Top 4. There's no harm in admitting Spurs are a team far likely to do better than United right now and over the past few years.

I think Eriksen would be an excellent signing. Adding him to the midfield would go a long way to fixing our creativity problems, he is a goal threat and can actually deliver quality crosses from corners and free kicks. It would be very surprising if Levy let's him go to a top four rival this summer, though.
From Eriksen's perspective, I would probably just let my contract run out and make a decision next summer. He would probably be able to go to most clubs, if he keeps up his performance levels, and without a transfer fee he could land a great contract. Obviously it is a bit risky, but he has never really had any injuries to speak of.
I know new signings have to sound positive about the club but it's not too much of a stretch for Eriksen to be considering us now given the investment we've made and how glowingly the likes of AWB and Maguire have spoken about what Ole's trying to build here. I can certainly see us being a lot more attractive to him now than at the start of the window

Because at the moment Levy can tell Juve, Atletico, etc that they have to bid higher because United are circling, even if in reality we're not interested at all (see the Bruno Fernandes example)
