No, I'm not pretending all is rosy in the garden. I said the CL performances gave me hope the ability in the team was still there, but carry on rewriting what I actually said. And I didn't 'complain all season long', literally all the posts you quoted were from the final third of the season.

We played shit for the final third or so of the season - Burnley, Arsenal etc, all those performances are from then. Otherwise we had the odd bad game (which yeah, fecking obviously in match day a fan complained about) but were comfortably third best in the league and not far off the top two.

Literally the last one was from October. And was before a game. You can’t hide from what’s written down.

Spurs were fourth best and are a mile off Liverpool and City.

Eriksen to United, Pogba to Madrid (either this year or all parties agree he'll move next summer), Lo Celso to Spurs would be the logical follow up to the smaller moves implied by Lyon and Spurs and Betis so far, as Fekir has moved to Betis, Ndombele to Spurs and Lyon buying 2 mids in Mendes for 25M and Jean Lucas for 8M to replace N'Dombele and Fekir leaving.

I'm guessing he wants to join Barcelona or Madrid. Juventus have spent a lot the last two windows (in terms of wages) so I guess they won't be after him, particularly after signing two midfielders already, and I don't think he will fancy PSG.

How can I put this ..

We're not all that great. We need investment (cm and fullbacks especially) and I said that for a long time and still think it's true.

We're still better than the current Manchester United team though. And that's all I've said in this thread .. that we're better than you. I've never claimed we're going to win the league, or that we're liverpool/city level .. just that we're closer to getting there than you are, and that Eriksen won't want to move backwards team quality wise.

I'm sure you're aware that right now being better than United isn't a big achievement, so a team can both be criticised and better than you are. Just like Arsenal fans have probably torn in to their team all season long, but most would still say they think they're better than you.


edit: And that very thread has me in there saying that we'll be well in the mix for top four and people were overreacting to our performance vs City. My position has always been the same on us, serious potential in the side but without investment will remain top 4 but no higher.

I said WE WEREN'T FAR OFF THE TOP TWO AT ONE STAGE. Which we fecking weren't, table wise. That doesn't mean that across the season I think we're close to the top two, because clearly we weren't. Nobody was.

As for the second part of your post, for the millionth time you're taking me being frustrated in a fecking match day thread and making out that I thought the team was outright shit. I think we had the odd terrible performance which showed we were in a false position, but across the season I think we've been a better team than United, which is what is relevant here.

You're inventing a point that isn't even there. In fact feck it, I don't even know what your point is meant to be. Man says performances are shit in match day threads, therefore can't think the team is better than others? There's zero logic to it at all. Yes, I complained about certain performances before christmas, I don't know a single fan who doesn't chat shit in match day threads. Do I think we're a perfect team who should never be criticised and prior to christmas had no poor periods? No, obviously fecking not. Congratulations you outed me .. Jesus.

Don't know who is better player Pogba or Eriksen..? Their stats seems similar.

It’s Pogba, but not by much. He has more special moments where he takes over a game. His peak is higher and he has more world class moments. Eriksen is more versatile though and better at controlling the game. Eriksen still offers goals and assists, but it’s his passing and the way that he makes Spurs tick that is his main strength. You saw a bit of it when he came on in the second half against us in the friendly.

Eriksen is much more consistent too. Atleast from what i've seen.

I'd agree that Pogba has the higher ceiling, but Eriksen is more consistent and has a higher bottom level. Both great players in my view.

It's amazing how people get angry when you rewrite what they actually wrote and go on some bizarre tangent in order to try and make a non-existent point. Fan complained about a few bad performances thus thought team was terrible all season long.

Provided football is a game for the fans to watch (first and foremost), it is Pogba as he has more flair and magic moments about his game. More exciting to watch when he is in form.

In terms of efficiency, they deliver similar end product, although have several different traits.

I think you underestimate the impact Ndombele will have.

Alright, we might let the opposition have a goal or two out of pity, but that's the most I'm willing to concede.

You complained all season. It’s in your post history. You then rewrote it yourself by pretending it was only after games and in the second half of the season. It’s in black and white. If you want to continue denying it then knock yourself out. I won’t be responding.

If having a moan in a match day thread about the way your team is playing on the day means you think your team is shit full stop, then basically no fans rate their own teams. I'm massively kneejerk on match day .. I've admitted this before, nobody is rational during that period. My overall view on the team has remained very consistent and you've provided nothing to say otherwise.

I'm also fully capable of thinking the team is good but not being happy with a lack of progression - most of my moaning was aimed at the fact we didn't sign anybody and that Pochettino was having to make do rather than being able to push this team on. That has nothing to do with whether I think we're better than United/Arsenal/Chelsea or whatever, all season I said I think we're a better team than those sides but that we were allowing them to catch up through our own lack of ambition. All my arguments with Glaston or any other Spurs fans pretty much revolved around that.

You can keep making out a few moans on match day threads mean more than they do, that's fine. You can also keep posting quotes where in the very same page I'm saying that we're a good side and will make top four, knock yourself out..

I don't think any players will leave aside from maybe Eriksen. And if they do I imagine they'll be replaced.

IF Eriksen does go, then to be honest Ndombele/Sissoko/Lo Celso is still a better midfield than Sissoko/Eriksen/winks/skipp/wanyama etc So we're still upgrading in that area even if we've lost that star man.

But overall my prediction for the next season remains pretty similar to last at the moment. I think we'll get third, I expect quarter finals or more in the CL and I'd like us to make a real go at a domestic cup. I don't think we have or will do anywhere near enough to push Liverpool/City unless they both have freak terrible seasons, and I also don't think United or Arsenal have done enough to make the gap on us, not when we're also making signings. Chelsea I'm discounting a bit and maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I think losing Hazard will be similar to us losing Bale. They'll really struggle as a squad for a season as they adapt from the 'get the ball to Hazard' game plan, we went through a similar transition.

Anyway, this isn't the Spurs thread so I'm on a bit of a tangent :lol:. But overall I don't think us keeping or losing Eriksen will have a huge impact on our season, unless we were to straight up not replace him. He honestly wasn't all that great for us for most of last season and would honestly have been dropped a couple of times had our midfield depth not been tragically poor.

Thanks for the scouting report mate, rarely get to see many of his games living in England. Can you ask your mate about that Son guy, he looks good on the tube.
 
Eriksen ain't the player United need in their midfield. He just ain't. He'd be better for them than all their current midfielders though.

That s my impression too. Though he s still relatively young, he looks like someone past his best.apart looking older than he actually is. I hope he s not another Matic...

From what I’ve seen of Son personally he’s bloody brilliant. We would never be able to sign him
