Christian Eriksen | Man Utd player

I’m embarrassed by how our embarrassing fans are always embarrassed by everything the club does.
I wonder how these people go about their daily lives, are they also embarrassed when somebody gets a question wrong on a quiz, oh no there’s some paper floating about on the wind, how embarrassing.

Their faces must be a heck of a shade of beetroot

Absolute tosh of the highest order, these posts not the footage on the video.

Looks quite the professional set up if you ask me. A few camera angles for the main video, a phone for the social stuff and from what I gather a photographer.

Honestly the standards that you guys set for the club is too damn high. You’d think we’d be making oscar winning documentaries if it were up to you guys with Christipher Nolan directing
You veered off my friend. He was referring to the fact that they are milking the viral video between Eriksen and Brandon Williams from the Norwich vs Tottenham game by bringing the poor sod in to welcome the new player and give the "we meet again" vibe. Absolutely cringe worthy.

Club being embarrassing, yet again.

Milking this 30 year old "free transfer" as much as they can, to mask the fact that we've spent naff all so far. Obviously a decent player, yeah, but not exactly groundbreaking or a global superstar; like the club is trying to have you believe. If he didn't recover from Cardiac Arrest, nobody would care about this transfer at all. In fact, the majority of you lot would probably be fecking fuming.
An awful post in fairness

Shows a real lack of understanding of factors such as Ericksen's quality, our lack of squad depth, our limited transfer budget

no one is claiming we are signing a global superstar but it is clear we are signing an experienced and quality footballer, who would have 100% walked into our team last season. Maybe some would have been happier had we spent money on him given the mindset of some fans these days. An obvious low risk, potentially high reward transfer.

Trust your manager!

Overly coddled by their mums and dads.

Misunderstanding what I am saying. Clearly.

No issues with the player. No issues with the signing. Decent player. Will do a good job. A good addition.

Issue with the way the club is hyping it up to ridiculous levels to blindside the fans. . . in what is, again, (so far), another disappointing transfer window.

It's not Eriksen from 3 or 4 years ago but it's hard not to be excited about this. He could be very useful for us.

It's a complete joke, a side like Liverpool didn't get where they are by signing past-their-best players on free transfers.

I mean sure they signed James Milner, obviously, but how well did that really work out for them? 280+ appearances looks good on paper but was that really worth the embarassment? I'm surprised they had the gall to even collect their Premier League and Champions League winner medals.

And it's completely different anyway because James Milner is a better footballer than Christian Erik.... wait no that doesn't sound right....

Why? Because I'm calling it as I see it and not being blindsided by the clubs obvious façade?

Our squad in in the worst state it's been in, in the past 25+ years, and we've done nothing to address that this transfer window - despite our worst ever Premier League finish.
Not sure how we've done nothing. We got probably the best managerial talent in the world alongside Nagelsmann (and Tuchel but I guess he is established). Who from the sounds of it is exactly what we need, a strict but fair manager who is also a very very good coach. Lingard, Mata, Pogba, Matic, Cavani are gone. Williams, Bailly, Jones are on their way out. Malacia, Martinez, Eriksen are in (all of whom are good, committed characters). Yes, we can do more and I am sure we will. If we get De Jong in I will consider it a very good window.

How many free transfers have we picked up, from players looking for one final pay day on stupidly ridiculous wages?

In recent years: Ibra, Cavani, Sanchez, Ronaldo, Eriksen.

Players past their prime, good for a couple of seasons, (at best), and used as a bandage to patch up glaring issues.
There is a difference between short term solutions and constantly filling the squad with free players or those past their prime.
We're not an outlet for freebies or cast offs. Three out of the five in your list were sensible business at the time. One will be judged this season. The last, well, we know how that turned out.

That is not true. If we make no more signings, this is still a stronger squad than we took into the 2015/16, 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, at the very, very least. And the window isn't closed yet.

If you're finding it that difficult to get behind a player like Eriksen (which really, says more about you than it does about this signing), think of it this way; he's Pogba's replacement. Slightly less talented, but coming in with less of an ego, more positional discipline, and a better attitude on lower wages. Will he solve all our problems? Of course not, there are clearly other areas we need to invest. But to replace a talented but mercurial and undisciplined playmaker we lost on a free for another playmaker with similar levels of creativity, premier league experience, better positional discipline, and significantly less drama? We could do a lot worse.

Meanwhile, Milner was added to a midfield of Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard.

See the difference?

why wouldnt we 'hype up' a new quality signing?

Uh, I dunno, maybe sign players that would add real quality? Like the teams around us?

We brought in a left back, when we had two.

We brought in a CB, when we have, like 10.

We brought in a 30 year old free transfer to replace Pogba, Mata, Matic and Lingard. Whilst our midfield was ALREADY a shambles

I genuinely cannot believe how utterly blindsided the lot of you are by the clubs feeble transfer window. I said the exact same shit when we brough Cavani in - and how did he work out for us?

The club is constantly patching issues up with free transfers, or players past their prime, and you lot lap it up.

Get over yourself, there is a reality we live in where problems don’t get solved immediately and where we are no longer the most successful club right now and everyone’s favourite destination. We can’t easily outspend everyone either.

Instead of kicking and screaming for immediate big transfers, most adults on here recognize that we are trying to incrementally improve the team in the right way.

We’ve just spent 70m+ on Sancho 12 months ago and we’re offering 85m for FDJ. How much money do you need to see being spent for you to be satisfied?

The constant crying and whining on here is really annoying.

How is posting a couple of videos and an interview for the unveiling of a player "hyping it up to ridiculous levels"? There wasn't even a piano involved! Oh, and if it is "hyping it up to ridiculous levels" (which it isn't) how do you know the purpose of it is "to blindside the fans"?

It's not what we spend, it's where we spend it.

Our midfield has been atrocious for how long? How long have we been crying for a defensive minded central midfielder, only for it to be ignored? Our last was Matic, who was already on his last legs.

We finally spunked money on a right sided midfielder (after years of ignoring the position), in Sancho - only to play him on the left.

Instead of kicking and screaming for immediate big transfers, most adults on here recognize that we are trying to incrementally improve the team in the right way.

We aren't afforded the luxury of time, unfortunately. The longer we're out of the Champions League, the less attractive we become, and qualifying just gets progressively harder; especially when the teams around us are strengthening significantly. Top 4 will be extremely difficult, when in reality, a club of our size, top 4 should be almost a given. We should be talking about title challenges. . . not scraping a hopeful top 4 finish.

LB- Telles/Williams are GARBAGE(plus their sales pay back the fee) and Shaw still has question marks on fitness. Had Malacia shone at Lyon you'd the same one whinging and binging on why we didn't sign him for £15m when he's sold for £50-60m in 2/3yrs
CB- Bailly and Axel will be sold. Jones aside the remaining options wouldn't last 50-60 games a season considering Varane is injury prone and Maguire is Maguire. Martinez is a very very smart signing
Eriksen- He's a FREE transfer. Again A FREE TRANSFER. He won't affect our ability to bring in a CM which is still going to happen at some point. There's many other things to complain about in life than signings a quality playmaker for free
Cavani by the way was a crucial reason why we had a decent 21/22 season despite how his last season turned out. You seem to have something personal against the guy or hate everything the club do so much that a simple announcement in your eyes looks like something so evil and sinister created by the big bad Glazers for some grand scheme you made up in your head

Ah I getcha. You're saying that we're weaker in midfield, so strengthening that position for free is more embarassing.

Only slight problem with your point is that Gerrard left before Milner arrived while Xabi Alonso had been sold some 6 years before that. Otherwise very perceptive.

Ah yes, the players that have been sold... but haven't yet.

No issues with the players brought in, but don't try and make them out to be top class priority signings...when they simply are not.

Because the manager wanted to assess them in pre season first. Telles, Williams, Bailly, Axel and likely AWB won't be here next season
We made 3 "top" signings last year in Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo after finishing 2nd how did that turn out?
Getting the RIGHT players is better than getting flashy players for the sake of flossing them to rival fans or personal muppet satisfaction

As long as he can stay fit, I think even if Frenkie doesn't come it wouldn't be disastrous. Finally a quality midfielder actually capable of controlling and creating. Always wanted him ever since I saw him played against United in CL. Gutted when he joined Spurs. He was an obvious player we should have spent money on. Like Modric, Lucas Moura and Varane.

Glad to have C.Eriksen and L.Martinez in. Both seem level-headed, driven and serious individuals bent on leaving a mark on football. Not our cringeworthy, childish social media whores of the past few years

Your mistake is in assuming that everyone is being blindsided while you understand the nuances of this deal and of how it is being promoted. Can you present multiple examples of anyone of this forum claiming that we have signed a league winning player in Eriksen? Or a global super star?

Yeah I'm sure he was devastated Barca or Madrid didn't come in for him after his three good games for Brentford. He barely deserved the deal we gave him ffs. The amount of fanfare accorded to his performances for Brentford comes mostly from what happened him not from how good he was for them

It think he was disappointed Spurs didn't come in for him. Or any of the other bigger London clubs. Presumably that was part of the attraction of Brentford as a starting point for him in the first place.

Honestly, what drivel.

After the twists and turns of his life I'd imagine he snapped our hands off.

You're talking shite.

He didn't snap our hands off, only in your imagination. He took his time signing for us. He was weighing up his options, as he should. Likely hoping for a bigger London club. If Spurs wanted him he wouldn't be here.
But I'm still glad we got him.

Overly sensitive pussies, so easily discombobulated. When men used to be men, the antithesis of a Bryan Robson male. Instead, we have a bunch who are as soft as they come. Whinge and constantly claiming to be embarrassed.

I bet their girlfriends beat the crap out of them. Soft, soft men.

After reading this reply, about embarrassment....I am embarrassed.
:p

I would totally understand a preference for a Spurs return but the way you speak is very negative, like he's been dragged here or summat. I doubt he's here through gritted teeth.

I'm glad you're glad.

You're making it look like he was weggie dragged into Manchester for Gods sake
His preference for London was fair for obvious personal and family reasons but he's by no means unhappy to be joining us. If he'd been told that he'd be a Man Utd player after his cardiac arrest it's something that would have definitely made him smile/happy

Because the clubs abusing his popularity to blindside the fans; while we have had (so far) an awful transfer window. Again.
abusing his popularity to blindside the fans haha

Listen the reality is big clubs including United are organisations built on commerical appeal which, these days can amount to clicks, followers, algorithms and revenue. That's how things are whether you like it or not. Dont blame the players, blame the game if you like.

Based on what you've said maybe we shouldn't have posted about Ericksen as we havent gotten De Jong over the line or maybe you wanted M'Bappe/Haaland etc?

Not sure what you expected in terms of transfers but Ten Hag has clearly said he's looking for the right kind of player and there's no indication he's unhappy with the work of Murtough etc is there. He'd be a lot more clued in on whats going on with De Jong etc than any of us on here

honestly though... the annoyance over us posting about a good signing is a little alarming. Maybe give the social media a swerve. Hopefully you are on the windup my friend

Only thing embarrassing is this post you made.
