Christian Eriksen has left Old Trafford on crutches

If the club backroom has told us that we can't invest this winter more than we did with Wout's loan deal, then it's said. No need to be mad or sad about it, just accept it and let's see if any of our younger players can make the step forward by giving more game time.

Well that's our season done. Probably will fall out of top. Worst thing is our board/owners won't even attempt to find reinforcement. Two MFs out for the season and they'll do nothing and watch our season crumble.

It was really stupid playing 1st teamers in the FA cup with Fred and McTominay on the bench. Honestly...I said it when I saw the lineup and especially Eriksen who's been needing a rest.
Who did you want injured ? Casemiro , Fred , Rashford , Martinez, ? Carroll was the village idiot looking for a victim but let us all ignore that , its not Ten Hag's fault.

Tbf we shouldn’t have been playing Eriksen every three days anyway, he struggles to last 90 mins

Also, just to say he could have had 30 days rest before the Reading game and the same injury would still have happened.

Going to be a big miss and with the matches coming in thick and fast expect some loses, I am not going to expect anything else with the squad being as thin as it is, might force ETH hand a play fringe players regardless because our leeching owners do not give a dam or will not part with anything now.

Wow, that's terrible news. All the attackers need to step up now because Fred - McTominay will be our midfield 80% of the time. And we have no cover for Fred now.

The bottom line is we have half a day to get someone in and realistically will they be better than Mainoo and Iqbal.
these guys are very good midfield players, at least one of them could come in and be a revelation.
I agree Bruno could play deeper, we have others who can play at 10.

So basically, we have Bruno/Fred/Casemiro as starters with MCT as cover for Fred/Case.
Not great at all.

McT is cover for Fred/Case AND Bruno.

We literally have four midfielders that can start games of football for 3 positions.

Maybe the people that want to see Martinez at DM will get their wish.

FFS with this still! If he pulled a hammy from wear and tear you'd have a point, but he was mauled by that thug Carroll.

A player could do their knee going up the stairs, so 'resting' players for whole games isn't always the way.

It's just shit luck, you can't blame the manager.

I dont agree with the "it could have happened to any player" gang. The concept of rotation exists because the key players are needed to be protected against running themselves into the ground AND injuries. The chances of injury are minute but they are always there. Eriksen could have twisted his ankle playing normally and then we wouldn't have Carroll to blame.

At the end of the day he got injured playing in a game where he wasn't really needed. If our backup player was injured, we would not have cared too much.

These are the games where you can afford to rest your key players and get rid of any risk of suspension/injury. Ajax fans already told us about ETH and his poor rotation skills.

Although Eriksen's injury could have happened with or without a plethora of games having been played in close succession, it must be noted that fatigue increases the likelihood of injury occurring.

I get what you're saying - but we literally should have some money in the budget saved from Ronaldo's wages anyway.

Also if you a buy a player, they literally become an asset you can use to increase your sale price. Also the club is a more attractive propsition with Champions League football... these should be easy arguments to make to the Glazers.
Add to the fact the Glaziers dont need to spend 50 mill. Tottenham are buying Porro for 5 mill loan with obligation to buy. We could have done that because it will be the new owners obligation to purchase the player. I think its more down to the fact that we are struggling to get the right players.

Also, just to say he could have had 30 days rest before the Reading game and the same injury would still have happened.

If ETH was even a halfway decent manager then he wouldn’t have played Eriksen for a single minute this season. That way we could be sure he’d have avoided any injuries. But since he was forced to play in a game of football, this is the sort of thing that happens. ETH is basically a bald Ole.

Not a fan of burning effigy but I would burn one of Andy Carroll.
They need to investigate it, a 90% almost retired striker with no future has no business doing that sort of tackle in the 70th ish minutes.

You're not wrong, but he got snapped in half by a caveman.

Step up Fred and Scott! Is Iqbal in contention for an attacking spot in the squad? Yes i know it’s not competitive games but he was quite impressive in the pre season friendlies

fecking Arse have a felt 0 injuries over the course of the whole season so far. And we have to deal with that.

Exactly. I'm struggling to work out why we haven't opted to start games with the minimum required 7 players at this point.

Recall Hannibal if we can't get anyone in perhaps? I know Birmingham has gone off the boil a bit, so perhaps a good time to do so

Anyone blaming Ten Hag for this is an idiot. This is 100% on that donkey Carroll.

We had just played a little more than 50 minutes and were only 1-0 up and therefore risking a re-play. Not to mention there were at least 3 more important players than Eriksen on the field, so in terms of "saving your best players" the argument doesn't make that much sense either. Can you imagine if we had subbed off Eriksen and then Casemiro got injured instead?

You can't protect the team from every possible incident. You just can't.

Eh ... Gabriel Jesus their supposed Messiah?

Nketiah's just come in and actually shown how a number 9 should actually play in front of goal though

Asked if Fred can step in to replace him, Ten Hag said: "Fred's playing with Casemiro in the Brazil squad, that's not the worst squad in the world!

"They have so many choices they can make but they prefer to play them together. Fred can contribute a lot to the team. He has a lot of qualities and I think Casemiro and Fred are a good partnership."

Well if ever there was a time to start using Galbraith, Mainoo, Zidane and Savage then it’s the League Cup semi and FA Cup games so Casemiro and Fred can be rested as February is already a crazy busy month for us game wise.

I’d like us to see if Gravenburch at Bayern or Paredes at PSG were available for loan just to add depth and I’d look into recalling Mejbri from Birmingham as he’s probably the closest thing we have to Eriksen’s role in a two man midfield, Mejbri is more ready than the kids I said above too and has played first team football regularly all season too.

Massive blow for us. That's so much creativity lost for the majority of the rest of the season. And in a window where we don't have the means to replace him. I'm gutted to be honest and not feeling great about our prospects for the rest of the year as this highlights our lack of squad depth
It was always going to happen. What if rashford gets injured too? Dalot has now quietly missed 6 games and no news on martial.

With so many games coming up we are likely to unravel and end up in free fall.

I almost forgot about him! Hopefully Fred will go through a similiar form-high as Nketiah. I'm actually not too worried about him. More playing time for McT is what worries me.
