Christian Eriksen - Contract till 2020

… Nobody is denying Real Madrid are a more attractive proposition for most players or managers. You’ve created this argument all by yourself …

It was you who took issue with my earlier statement that "I imagine he'd choose the CL-attached circus at RM over the EL-attached circus at United."

But now not only have you ended up agreeing with my statement, you also have the gall to say I've created this argument all by myself

Currently Real Madrid are sitting outside Champions League qualification and in relative disarray. I was talking about that. They aren’t guaranteed Champions League next season. That’s where I drew parallel to United. You started talking about the allure of Real Madrid and their previous Champions League wins.

I'm afraid your post displays an ignorance of history. In the first half of 1960s, Spurs were the dominant English club ... and during this period became the first British club ever to win a European trophy and the first club in the 20th century to win the league and FA cup double.

Not a single thing in my post was "nonsense".

Are Preston a sleeping giant? Are Blackburn a sleeping giant? Blackpool?

Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Huddersfield, Derby County?

Spurs have had about five decent seasons in their entire history and no amount of log cabins or free WiFi is likely to change that. It won’t take five years before you’re back to being another West Ham.

Few of those clubs are now in the top-flight league. Spurs are in the top-flight league, are competing well within it, and have been in the top-flight league continuously, with one brief exception, for many, many decades. In terms of current potential there is no even remote comparison with the likes of Huddersfield, Wolves etc.

PS. Less than 5 years before we're another West Ham? That's a longer time frame than the usual failed predictions of a "mass exodus of best players next summer" ... so things are looking up!

Can see Eriksen playing for Barca more than Real Madrid tbh.

Neither Spurs or united are competing in the league at the moment.

City - 35 points
Liverpool - 33 points
Tottenham - 30 points
United - 21 points

Slightly confused. 5 points isn't too far away but 14 points away is massive. Tottenham are doing fine in the league imo and still very much in the title race (although I dont think they will be come May).

He’s the kind of player that can play anywhere, great in possession but can play vertical football and he’s a set piece specialist. Barca are stacked in midfield while Madrid are looking weak so it’s more likely he ends up there imo.

Juventus and PSG will also be very interested.

Tottenham are doing well in the league right now but they're not and won't be challenging for the title.
It's the same every year with them, maybe it's because of the new ground but they almost seem to write themselves off at times.
You said yourself they're not likely to be challenging come may.

The reason why no other club is likely to challenge is because City is on course to hit 100 points again, and if they do then it's unlikely that any other club can challenge. Right now Spurs is just as good a bet for second as Liverpool imo.

I don't disagree, I wasn't making a criticism when I said Tottenham aren't challengers, I don't believe Liverpool are either.

I think when he wakes up Glaston repeats in front of the mirror 100 times how many times in the last 5 years United has been out of the top 4.

I guess we kinda agree then although I would still call us challengers until we're a few more points adrift. Although it doesn't look like it now, they can lose points, and it's not yet 100% that they will win the league.

Yeah, Florentino Perez is already planning next season with the assumption that Eriksen will be in Madrid....

Challengers for the Premier League? This season!? Wow.

He'll be at United next season, Mark my words.

I'm not seeing any white text. What makes you so sure? He'll either sign a new contract or he'll move to a team which is capable of winning the Champions League such as Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus or Bayern.

I'm still lighting a little candle every night in hope of him coming to Merseyside. Exactly the kind of player we need.

It is possible. I can't see why Levy would sell to a PL team though, but, if he did, Eriksen would almost certainly pick Liverpool over United, with the exception of a large financial wage offer from United.

I don't have much to cheer about these days. So transfers that probably won't come true is all I have to cling on to (football wise)
