Chido Obi | 2024/25 Performances

Id have him on the bench for spurs away. We are very thin in attacking options.

Both strikers are fit though. The injuries don't really open it up for him.

If anything it'd be Moorhouse or Kone you'd think would be needed.

Zirkzee might be a 10 for the rest of the season with Amad and Mainoo out

Yeah possibly but I think he's started there once maybe under Amorim and pulled off before half time? But maybe there's no choice now.

Still think Garnacho, Eriksen and Bruno are preferred as a 10.

I also think it'd be really tough for him. He doesn't look like the kind of striker that's going to create for himself, he needs service. And we just don't create.

But you never know with young players. Crazy stuff can happen when they first come in.

Dissapointed he was brought on with only 2 minutes to go. Bad decision by the manager. Give him 15 mins at least.

He really couldn't have been worse than Hojlund today, infact when you consider Hojlund output and general play in the league, anyone's an upgrade.

Just being gradually integrated, his minutes will increase. It’s normal to give a young debutant only a couple of minutes, just to get a taste of the environment in the first team. If he starts scoring he’ll be starting games, no doubt.

Really great to see him get a run out today. Promising performance and lots to see. Great to have a forward thinking manager promoting the youth

15 minutes wouldn't have hurt. Even 10 minutes.

2 minutes, what's the fkng point?!

Traveling with the squad, warming up with the first team, being involved with the team talk, warming up to come on, making his debut no matter how many minutes.

ALL are positives and great experience for the kid.

He would of leant a lot this weekend.

Would have learned more if he had touched the ball a few times and made a few passes.

I completely get phasing him in but Hojlund was gassed and offering close to no goal threat in a game where we were down 1 nil. Chido should have come on at 80-85 mins IMO.

I imagine a young kid of his talent and confidence has a bitter sweet feeling tonight, in that his premier league debut couldn’t have been more forgettable.

Glass half empty thinking.

It is what it is. He is progressing fast enough imo. I bet he was buzzing inside with the full crowd, obviously couldn't show it due to the loss but he is getting closer to the first team.

He will get his chance to shine, no doubt. Amorim has given many young players their opportunity and that will not change at United.

According to Flex (so take that as you will), Chido wasn’t happy at only getting 3 minutes.

Don’t blame the kid, what was he ever meant to achieve in 2 minutes? This was nothing but a token gesture by the manager to say he’s given him his debut. I know he’s very young and will get more opportunities but if you’re going to bring him on at least give the lad 10 minutes or so, then he’s actually got a chance to impact the game in some way. Especially when the attackers on the pitch couldn’t hit a barn door from 5 yards away.

I'd be more concerned if he was happy with it

I continue to defend Amorim and won't judge him until the club back him with 3-4 players who fit his system. But yesterday I did not see a United manager. That was pitiful and harmful to the young players.

I think putting him on was just purely for the nod for hard work and to get those debut nerves over.

We were playing well so wasn't too much need to change it. I'm sure he'll be in and around the first team and will get more opportunities from the bench. To be fair we're only a Hojlund injury away from him having a potential major role in the team.

Not being happy is one thing (and probably a good thing as you suggest); openly complaining about it is another. The last thing we need is any sort of entitlement amongst our younger players.

Wish he wouldn't associate himself with Talkshite, does he not realise how much the station hammers Utd or happy to just shill for them

Tell you what, Obi showed up today. Was winning duels, making a nuisance of himself, providing lay offs to teammates. Yes Everton Moyesy'd the second half and got deeper and deeper but the kid had an impact.

He's not great technically and needs to improve a lot. But it was positive to see that he won a header and a couple duels as a proper 9, something we haven't seen from the others.

Very raw but the more minutes he gets the better for his development. I’d rather that than wasting more time on Hojlund.

I wonder how long he'll think passing the ball on and pointing to where he wants it, then be ignored is an option for him

The boy did more in his short time on the pitch than Hojilund has this season, in terms of hold up play and bringing his fellow attackers into play
That's absolute rubbish of course. Good for the lad to get minutes but he didn't do much and that's because the ball never went his way, the same problem Hoijlund is having.
