Seems like that's what LvG thought too. Rooney (the Captain) and RvP (the Golden Boy) were the obvious first two choices. Then you have Falcao coming at big wages that 'would need' to be played. Combined with Madrid just winning CL and 2nd/3rd in the league the previous season, and United who aren't competing in Europe, he had to be mad to refuse Madrid's offer.
 
Having read van Gaal's interview, I can not see Chicha playing for us ever again. Either we buy a new young striker and Wilson goes on loan, or we have Wayne, RvP and Wilson as our strikers next season.
 
He should accept his level and move to a mid-table club if he wants to be a regular starter. Would be nothing more than a sub/second-third choice at a club challenging for a titles. His overall game just isn't good enough to command a regular starting spot at those clubs.

His allround game is really underrated.

You would think he was complete dogshite with the way people go on about it. In the Celta game, the way he brought down a long ball from deep and then put Ronaldo through with a first time through ball was excellent. No, his allround game is not as good as Rooney or RVP but he's hardly shit either. He's better at running in behind defenses than any of our other strikers currently.

Yes, why would anyone want to sit on the bench at Madrid where you can play in The Bernabeu and have a shot at winning the European Cup when you can play for Newcastle!

He bitched about his lack of opportunities here and was philosophical when asked about the Madrid situation, where he had spend majority of his time on the bench when Benzema was fit.

Some players like to play football then being mere ornamnets on top clubs benches. He could be one of them, we would find out soon enough.

He has already said that he couldn't turn Madrid down if they wanted him to stay.

If United were European Champions and at the sharp end of that competition again then I am sure that he would be happy to sit on our bench too.

Who would be happy to be a bit part player in United's team last year?

Then he is an idiot. I read somewhere that he contemplated quiting football all together when playing opportunties were scarce. I don't think that would change in a hurry unless he improves his allround games overnight. If he wants to sit on Madrid's bench, collecting trophies that he has barely earned, then good for him. If wants to play regular football then moving to a smaller club would be the prudent move.

Probably everyone in the world would have agreed with you, until the moment the ball went in against Atletico. That was a glorious moment that was seen worldwide, and would never be eclipsed by anything he could achieve at Newcastle.

I'm still not sure what I would do if I was him. There is an inherent risk of being a poacher like him. Going to a mid-table side in either La Liga or the PL will not guarantee him playing time either; it might actually be worse since many of those sides rely less on possession, create less chances, and often require more in terms of hold-up play from their strikers.
 
I wouldn't leave Real Madrid for Newcastle.

But if getting few chances with Real is that serious a problem, I think the genius move for Javier would have been to go to LA Galaxy. He'd be the league's superstar by a mile and would stay in front of the Mexican media every day. The salary package and endorsement deals would have been insane. And living in LA is pretty sweet.

But I hope Louis brings him back to OT. Despite his rep here as a one-trick poaching pony, Javier would be a fantastic option to have for us.

Even though I hate Real Madrid, if he's happy there, then I'm happy for him. He did alot for us and we're the ones who cast him aside it's not like he was begging to leave for Madrid in his prime like others have.

Probably a good move for him anyway. Just being a Madrid player opens alot of opportunities for him like it does being a United or Barcelona player. Even if he doesn't do much he'll still be marketable to whoever his next club is which wouldn't happen to the extent it would if he were a regular starter at some midtable club in the Premier League with a decent scoring record. After Madrid he'll probably make a fortune in the MLS.

Glad but he's not going to get much game time in our 4-3-3; Rooney's undroppable, Van Persie's staying for another year apparently and Wilson is sure to get more minutes unless he's loaned.

I don't think he'd be willing to stay.

Yeah, he doesn't have to drop down to a club like Newcastle but the clubs you mention can all be good choices for him.

Well, he is unwanted by Van Gaal so there was no reason to not sweet talk his new team. He's just going to be sold to the highest bidder to the summer, it's not as if that comment will come bite him in the ass.

It isnt as simple as moving to a 2nd tier club and becoming an automatic starter for a player of Chicha's style. He is very heavily reliant on service and becomes a passenger without it. With most teams using a 1 striker system, they cannot afford to have someone who cannot hold up the ball or get involved in the build up but just good at putting away chances. Strength to hold off CBs is a major factor for such sides especially in England.
 
We'd be silly to get rid, in my opinion. Top player and he's been what we have needed this season; someone to run in behind and stretch defenders, as opposed to sitting in front and expecting ball to feet.

I think he'll definitely go to MLS but not yet. He should stay in Europe longer as the quality is superior there.

Yet, we have someone who is considered a legend at the club for sitting on the bench collecting trophies. Played the same position too! Did kind of the same thing on top of that, didn't do feck all then scored an important wondergoal as an 80th minute sub!

Loyalty or no ambition, legend or idiot. I guess it depends on it's for United or someone else.

I never heard Ole complain about lack of game time or giving up on football alltogether. Whereas there have been murmurs of the same from Hernandez. That is the difference.

If Chicha is ready to accept the role as a bit-part player then good for him. If not, and he wants a regular starter spot, then he has to move to a smaller club.
 
Keep him for a season, you'd hope LvG recognises our current issue with strikers. Don't care if he sits on the bench for the entire season we need options and backups
