Cheltenham Festival 2011

From racing post -

Bad news for Denman fans - the ground will almost certainly not be soft for the Gold Cup this afternoon.

Clerk of the course Simon Claisse said: "We had very little rain overnight, it was barely measurable.

"It is good all round on the chase course.

"We may get a little bit of rain between now and midday but I don't think it will be enough to change the going."

Just been speaking to Willie Mullins and he said that Kempes is absolutely going to smash the Gold Cup today,he said the horse is looking so strong and told me to and I quote "bet your feckin house on it son"
Not going to go that mad but will have a cheeky £50 on it.

 not that Im disputing your claim but im not sure I've ever heard Mullins speak that bullishly about a horses chances. Usually hes quite withdrawn when it comes to making predictions. Havent made my mind up on that race yet. Its a v difficult one to call. So many if and buts about the majority of the field.

I have never met him and did not know who he was,my pal told me it was Mullins.I have no idea what type of character the guy is but he seemed certain that Kempes was going to win.

I got each way odds of 6-1 early in the week, I've also put some money on Kempes each way because Cheltenham Red's tip was too tempting.

For me its a race for watching....Might be the last time we see some great names at the festival. did Kempes ew myself glad I took a price earlier...

heavy late backing for Imperial Commander. Big bets to move the market so late.....

I think it's going to be a young horse winning today, Long Run or Kempes - anyone putting money on Star or Denman must be very sentimental.
I don't think it's sentiment, Kempes has a stone to find on the book and whether Long Run acts on the ground remains to be seen.

Well, Wille Mullin's is a shite tipster!

A few 20p Accumulators, 5 for 5 :D

There was no tips, I went on, had a nose of odds, recent form, trainer, jockey and made my pick

I'm no horse expert

What a great race. Nice to see Kauto Star and Denman battling it out, until the youngster came through very impressively to win.

I did Imperial Commander, not sure what happened to him, he was going well in the early stages but I see he did not finish.

Only two winners all week, and one of them was picked by the missus. :(

I won an obscene amount on Bobs Worth and Long Run today, just as well after I spunked away £300 on a "gilt edged" tip for Ericht the other day. Plus I must be the only punter who didn't make a killing on Big Bucks.
