Who was the anti post you did a while ago Nearco, was it Long Run?

I think Hurricane Fly will be hard to beat but I also like Peddlers Cross in that race.

I'm also going with Sizing Europe, the previous Arkle winners have a good record in the Queen Mother so the odds are in our favour. I see Somersby has been changed from the Ryanair Chase.

Whats your taughts on Mikael D'haguenet and what would be your NAP?

Somersby is a horse I really like but not over two miles. I'll be backing him for the 2012 Gold Cup after the Festival

Mikael D'Haguenet travelled like an absolute beast on his first run of the season in the Drinmore and his fall at the last was most unfortunate. It was a weird one in that his front legs seemed to get tangled up upon landing. He would have pissed the race if standing up and the form of it has worked out really well. The trainer fecked up running him just a fortnight later over shorter and he bounced big time.
I liked his last run in the Moriarty. He travelled OK once again and of course was hampered really badly when his stable companion fell at the fourth last. Just imagine that you're running in a race on heavy, rain softened ground and you're tonking along nicely under a steady rhythm when suddenly you're almost brought to a standstill by an unexpected event happening in front of you. The effort involved with having to get back into that rhythm and back on terms with the leaders who have pulled away from you must take it's tole at the business end of a race. For that reason I am hopeful MDH can give Time for Rupert a run for his money in the RSA. Ultimately he has the capability to be a monster of a chaser and if you look at the odds right now on Betfair for this race:
5/2 - Time for Rupert
8/1 - AiteenThirtyThree
10/1 - Jessie's Dream
11/1 - Wymott
11/1 - Wayward Prince
13/1 - Mikael

Time for Rupert looks a bit of a good thing. For the horses between the favourite and MDH to win this race Time for Rupert will have to run below form or fall. But Mikael D'Haguenet is capable of winning this race without that condition. For that reason he's a fair each way bet.

My NAP of the meeting is Hurricane Fly. This horse is a monster and although I respect Binocular the form of his win last year is gash.

Oi, ya bugger you might have tipped us the wink a few months back.

Actually apart from For Non Stop (and that bet was a bit risky at the time as he had an entry in the World Hurdle) and Dunguib there isn't a huge amount of difference to the prices available now.

Sizing Europe is still in double figures which is ridiculous. Arkle winners have a great record in the race and Woolcombe Folly being shorter is plain daft.

I'll let you off then - I don't know much about jumps and fancy a punt at Cheltenham aside from laying a few favs.

Can't have hurricane fly myself, beating solwhit over and over with Luska Lad a bare 2 lengths behind as he was at Christmas doesn't negate to champion hurdle winning form and he has zero course form also which is a huge trait. And this is the hottest champion hurdle of recent times.

He's the sort of horse who can't really be judged on how far he wins by because the jockey holds onto him so late. Look at Binocular last year, McCoy went for him entering the straight so naturally it's easy to judge how superior he actually was to the other animals. Hurricane Fly is like a Sea the Stars in that his true rating will always be hard to adjudge.

The lack of course form isn't ideal obviously but it is only a trait in Champion Hurdle winners because the vast majority have run at the Festival before as novices and such. Hurricane Fly missed the last two Festivals through injury so for me he's a special case in that regard.

I agree it does look a mouth watering renewal and I can't wait. I also think Dunguib is a cracking each way bet. Still got a lot of faith in that horse.

I was impressed with Dunguibs comeback run, it was his best round of jumping to date and he will come on for the run as well. Hurricane really is a bit of an enigma, with his cruising speed he will be there coming to two out but whether he will be first up that hill is anyones guess. Will Townend keep the ride you think?

I hope so. He's a fine young jockey who could do with a winner at the Festival.

Unfortunate for the race. I'm balls deep on Hurricane Fly at an average price of 6/1 so with the market very much in my favour now I'll probably cover on Peddlers.

Can't wait for this, work is always very slow during Cheltenham week

I see there's no post from Cheltenham Red yet

Got it at 11/1 last night.
Only 2.50 E/W mind.

Had a fiver on Spirit son to win.

Decent enough start.
On the fave in the next.

Good day yesterday. Hurricane Fly making up for Finian's Rainbow getting beat.

Today:

2.40 Mikael D'haguenet
3.20 Sizing Europe
4.00 For Non Stop

All each way.

Had an each way double with this, Non stop was traveling well before the fall. Horses can break your heart

Such a shame. Guaranteed second and he might have rallied given that the winner didn't jump the last well either.

I don't think he have beaten the winner, I thought the jockey made too much use of him early on.

Probably. He was very prominent in the race where Grand Crus sailed past him in November.

I'm going tomorrow, can't wait. It's the weakest day of the four but a great experience.

I have Noble Prince in the first race and will back Grand Crus on the track for the World Hurdle.

Good luck - my one trip to Cheltenham did not go well and I've stuck to the flat ever since.

fecks sake I really don't know why I bother, bloody Ericht I hope it's dog food in the morning.

Yes, I did him as well.

I've only had one winner so far, that was Chicago Gray @ 5-1.

As usual, I'm going for Imperial Commander in the Gold Cup, with a possible each way bet on Midnight Chase.

Possibly the best line up of horses I've seen for the Gold Cup, tough one to call.

I couldn't pick my nose this year, apart from one winner.

Then, God Bless the missus . . . . :)

Her maiden name was Holmwood, and she spotted a horse named Holmwood Legend was running to day, and asked me to put a £5 on it.

It only bloody won at 25-1.

Just checking in............ on the batter since tues. Bad day today had a stormer yesterday 3 winners 16. 14 and 10/1.

Best bet Ive ever seen in person happened today. 6 euro tricast won on eof the lads 650 euro. Unbelievable. The pub I was in had a horse running today Rubi something, the whole place was on e/w, few of the lads had himat 50/1 antipost.

Quality few days I must say.

Who do people like in the Gold Cup tomorrow? The same guy that assured me Junior was a lock has said that he's putting £500 on Long Run.

I think this is one of the best line-ups they've had for years for the Gold Cup.

I'm sticking to the same bet I've done for the last couple of years . . . Imperial Commander, plus an each way bet on Midnight Chase.

Mind you, after the missus picking out a 25-1 shot today, I might just let her pick the horse!!!

Good luck everyone. ;)

Not a bad day, had Albertas Run‎ and Big Bucks (I love that horse).

Unsure about the Gold Cup today, might go with Long Run but if the skies open I'll have a look at Denman

The lack of rain worries me re Denman and Long Run. I'm hopeful rather than confident. Not sure about the track for the latter either but I can't desert him now having punted him every time he's run since the Feltham in 2009.

I don't think Imperial Commander has had the prep he had last year and am against him and Kauto Star who simply has too many miles on the clock.

We saw three of last year's winners triumph again yesterday and last year's Triumph winner Soldatino has an each way chance in the 2.05. I have him in an each way double with Kempes in the Gold Cup. The latter looks a big danger to Long Run and Denman as I think he'll like the ground and he seems to be improving big time.
