Cheltenham 2016 - Drinks On acnumber9

doubled my 25 euro with a few lil bets and 5er e/w on Sprinter Sacre

£100 up for the day. Great days racing. £60 in free bets earned for tomorrow too thanks to all the Irish winners.

A very creditable performance from Pendleton.

Nina was as ever quite brilliant in the race.

Where there are livestock there are deadstock but every year at the Festival we get the Animal Rights idiots who come out of the woodwork without the slightest clue about the industry or the love, care and lives afforded to these beautiful animals.

They then disappear for a few weeks before emerging for the Grand National where they pray for a fatality to further their agenda before vanishing again for another 11 months. Ask one of them to name a horse who lost his life at a smaller track they wouldn't have a clue but during Cheltenham they know it all. Or better still ask the name one of the countless lost this year while turned out in their fields or those who escaped their fields and got ploughed down on the roads and you'll get the same blank look. Muppets.

You could have quoted me. I'm not some activist who hates horse racing and all its followers, I'm a fan (yes, a casual one) whose enthusiasm is routinely dampened when I'm forced to confront the idea that a non-insignificant amount of animals are dying for my entertainment.

I wasn't aiming reply at you though, your post got me thinking is all. Disagree they are dying for your enjoyment, they are doing what the are bred and love to do. In my opinion the slight risk involved is worth it considering the fantastic care they are given. They live and are treated like kings. Long Dog today broke my heart as he was a real favourite of mine but his death was something that could have happened at home, stepped in a hole and broke down. Totally unavoidable.
