It's nice if they can keep in with old friends that keep their feet on the ground. It's when they are in with a bad lot and seem to have a lot of fair weather friends who disappear when times get bad. That's when you find out who your real friends are.

Very true. Its worth considering that some people are justg desitned to have problems anyway. A lot of people have mental health issues, addiction problems and tragic events in their lives. Being a footballer, as an example, might allow you easier access to drink, drugs and whatever else but its not caused by your career.

Gazza is a great example. Read his book and you can see he has real issues stemming from events in his childhood. If anything football was a release for him and the money he's made may have stopped him going down an even darker path than he has.
